Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW6:

Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW4:

Pros of GW6 Wildcard:

Hop on Hop off matrix from @legomane_FPL on Twitter/X
  • Remove underperforming players like Watkins, Rogers, Forest defenders, etc
  • Jump on Man City assets who have been performing well & have got good fixtures starting with BUR(H) in GW6
  • Get Arsenal assets early, with their fixtures improving soon(From GW7)
  • Load your team with DEFCON beasts like Tarkowski, Senesi & Andersen
  • Avoid team value dropping early in the season
  • Bank free transfers for later use

Cons of GW6 Wildcard:

  • GW8 and GW13 offer better windows to Wildcard, with GW8 coming after the 2nd INTL break & coincides with good fixture runs for Arsenal & Chelsea
  • GW13 is a mega fixture swing for Liverpool, Man City & Newcastle. Liverpool face West Ham (A), Sunderland (H), and Leeds (A). City play Leeds (H), Fulham (A), and Sunderland (H). Newcastle take on Everton (A), Spurs (H), and Burnley (H).
  • Managers who have a few transfers saved up can still get Haaland for Salah in 2-3 transfers and save the wildcard for later.

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 1 with GW8 BB

Goalkeepers:

  • Double up on Arsenal defence with Raya & Gabriel, the Gunners have conceded only 2 big chances in the first 5 GWs(Lowest in the League) despite playing Man City, Liverpool, Man United already.
Pope is the highest-scoring goalkeeper
  • Alternatively, you can also go for Donnarumma or Pope as the goalkeeper. Newcastle have conceded the least xGC(2.58) & have kept a clean sheet in 4 out of the 5 games.
  • Dubravka is the 2nd keeper in this and all other drafts in this blog, he’s the only regular starting 4.0 million goalkeeper option and has made the joint most saves in the league so far(19)

Defenders:

  • Senesi and Andersen are locks in this draft, both are super consistent with DC points. Senesi has got DC points in all five games and has the most DCs amongst defenders(66). Andersen has got DC points in 4/5 games and averages 11.2 DC/90 this season.
  • Bournemouth have conceded the 3rd lowest xGC & big chances(5), only Arsenal & Newcastle have conceded fewer xGC & big chances this season.
  • Gudmundsson is the cheap defender in this draft and operated as the LB for Leeds. Alternatively, you can get Rodon(CB). Gudmundsson has got 18 pts so far, and Rodon has 21 pts so far. Leeds have been decent defensively in 4/5 games, they have kept 2 clean sheets, conceded 7 goals(5 of them came in against Arsenal(A)), and have good fixtures coming up.
  • Van de Ven is the last defender in this draft, he’s also the most owned defender in the game. Spurs under Thomas Frank have conceded only 3 goals so far this season, which is the 3rd lowest in the league.

Midfielders:

FPL GW6 Wildcard Players to Target - Bruno
  • We have gone with Bruno and Foden as the premium midfielders in this draft. Bruno has had two 10-point returns this season, and if not for a missed penalty, he would have had 3/5 with returns so far. He’s also top for chances created in the league with 15 chances created, an average of 3 per game.
  • Man United face Brentford & Sunderland in the next two gameweeks, which are decent fixtures. The uncertainty around Palmer means you can go with Bruno for now and then switch to Palmer in GW8 if he’s fit by then.
  • Foden is back in the FPL mix after a while, he’s started both of City’s last two games and faces Burnley in GW6. Most Wildcarders will go with Haaland & Reijnders, so Foden could be the differential.
  • Semenyo is a must own on GW6 wildcard, he’s the highest scoring midfielder with 41 points in five games including 3 goals & 2 assists. Only Haaland(10) has more big chances than Semenyo(6), he’s also their talisman and has got 6 of the 9 big chances Bournemouth have had so far this season.
  • Stach & Reijnders are the budget midfielders in this draft, both offer great value. Reijnders returned vs Arsenal(GW5) for the first time since GW1 with an assist, DC points, and 2 bonus.
FPL GW6 Wildcard - Reijnders
  • Stach is a complete midfielder and offers great value at just 5.0 million. He is top amongst Leeds players for – Shots on goal(11), shots inside the box(5), xGI(1.2), chances created(11), big chances created(2) & DC points(4). He’s also 2nd for Defensive Contributions(43) amongst Leeds players, only behind Rodon(47).
FPL GW6 Wildcard Players to Target - Stach
  • Stach’s 11 chances created is also 4th highest in the league with only three players creating more chances. Leeds also face Burnley in GW8 so that’s perfect for a bench boost.

Forwards:

  • Haaland, Gyokeres, and Joao Pedro are the forwards in this draft, fairly template, but you can’t look beyond them.
  • Haaland has had 10 big chances in the first five games, which is more than 14 other Premier League teams. Even Liverpool have had only 9 big chances so far this season, one less than Haaland.
  • Haaland has also had a whopping 6.2 xG so far, and Semenyo is a distant second with an xG of only 2.89.
  • Joao Pedro is the highest-owned player in the game(67%). He has so far registered 2 goals & 3 assists and has blanked only twice so far. With the uncertainty around Palmer’s fitness, Pedro is the safest Chelsea attacker to consider.
  • Gyokeres is the 3rd Arsenal player in this draft, he’s settling in at Arsenal and has a great run of fixtures from GW7 onwards. The Swedish striker has completed 90 minutes in 3/5 games and most likely on penalties as well. Saka is the only other alternative worth considering, but he’s just returning from an injury layoff and is also 0.8 million expensive without penalties as well.

FPL GW8 Bench Boost Projection(Without any transfers)

FPL GW8 Bench Boost Projection(Without any transfers)
  • Burnley play Leeds & Sunderland play Wolves giving you an ideal option to bench boost in GW8 & get rid of the chip without having to spend heavily on your bench. You can also potentially consider Alderete/Mukiele(Both 4.0 Million) instead of Leeds defender if you plan to BB in GW8.

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 2 – Some money ITB for Palmer in GW9

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 2 - Some money ITB for Palmer in GW9
  • A very similar looking draft to the previous one, with Foden downgraded to Ndiaye and the extra funds used to get another DEFCON monster, James Tarkowski, who has also got a 5/5 games with DEFCON points.
  • Ndiaye has 2 goals and an assist so far this season and has registered DC points in the last two games. He’s on penalties as well, and with Everton’s attack much improved, Ndiaye is a great option to consider. KDH is on four yellow cards, one away from suspension & Grealish is 0.3 more expensive than Ndiaye without penalties.
DEFCON Leaderboard amongst Palace defenders
  • Richards also makes this draft ahead of Andersen, Richards registered 17 DCs against West Ham in GW5 & is the highest amongst Palace players for DCs(50) & 8th amongst all defenders. Palace’s defence is also quite strong, having conceded only 2 goals this season, the lowest in the League. Glasner’s men are also undefeated in their last 17 matches in all competitions, stretching back to last season.
  • Some money is left in the bank for the potential Bruno to Palmer move in GW8 if he’s fit by then.
  • Alternatively, you can use the extra money to get Saka instead of Bruno now and change Raya to Donnarumma. One other option is to do Gabriel to Burn/Gvardiol and switch Bruno to Saka.

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 3 (Haaland + Salah Draft)

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 3 (Haaland + Salah Draft)
  • This is a Salah + Haaland draft for those interested in going with both of them
  • It’s actually not a very bad draft. Obviously, the midfield is slightly weak, but this draft shows that it’s manageable if you decide to go with both of them.
  • Foster is a decent 3rd forward at 5.0 Million, he’s Burnley’s first choice forward, having started in all five games(1 goal, 1 assist), handy for a potential GW8 bench boost too, as they play Leeds(H).

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 4 – Haaland + Saka + Gyokeres Draft

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 4 - Haaland + Saka + Gyokeres Draft
  • Draft with double Arsenal attack(Gyokeres + Saka) to target their good fixture run from GW7 onwards.
  • Donnarumma in goal and Chalobah as the 2nd Chelsea player in this draft are the new players who haven’t been covered in the other drafts before.
