FPL GW10 Tips & Preview – Key Tips & Questions Answered
1. Haaland Analysis Ahead of GW10
Haaland hit the scoresheet against Southampton after scoring two goals midweek in the Champions League. Looking at the underlying stats, Haaland registered a whopping 2.3 xG but was let down by poor finishing and bad luck. Eight shots and three on target is what you want out of your striker and potential captain in FPL. This is one of his best games in terms of underlying stats since he joined Man City.
Many are looking to ship Haaland out to transfer in Salah. It could be a good decision in the long run but any doubts about Haaland and Manchester City are largely false.
Haaland has been scoring goals all season without Rodri and De Bruyne is due to return soon. Foden, Silva, Nunes, Savinho, and the gang are great creators who can provide Haaland opportunities in the meantime.
Nailed on for 90 minutes per match, on penalty duties and a decent run of upcoming fixtures will keep the Norwegian firmly locked in my team.

2. Trusting The Process (again)
We are back again with a section dedicated to ‘trusting the process’.
An important point I want to again highlight is that we work with small sample sizes when making FPL decisions but we can also use this to our advantage and understand when patience is necessary.
Tottenham failed to score against Crystal Palace in a poor performance and a rare outing where they don’t score. Does that mean you should dump Solanke, Johnson, Maddison, etc. for other assets who scored last week? Definitely not.
Spurs now have two home games with favourable stylistic matchups and will have a flame lit under them by the manager. Tottenham have always scored 2+ goals immediately after a scoreless week under Ange.
This same logic needs to be applied across the board. If the player looks fit, the team is in at least decent form and the fixtures are good, there is no reason to drop any of the above plus other assets in the same category.
Being reactive and ‘chasing points’ could see you catch the downswing of each asset and miss out on every haul.
Chris Wood has had a stellar start to the season and scored a brace last week. However, Nottingham Forest have been in the bottom 7 for expected goals created this season and now face a tougher fixture run in the medium term. It could be too late to jump on that bandwagon.

3. Trent Alexander-Arnold Analysis Ahead of Gameweek 10
Trent’s season in FPL terms so far can be described differently based on who you talk to.
He is one point off being the highest scoring defender so far on the back of five clean sheets and one assist in nine fixtures. He has also recorded six bonus points.
Slot’s system of play combined with a favourable opening run of fixtures sees Liverpool boast the best defensive record so far this season.
Trent has been unlucky to not register more attacking returns after recording 3.4 xGI which is the highest amongst all defenders so far this season. He is still getting in to great positions and with corners and free kick duty in his repertoire, I would advise to hold him for the season unless things change drastically and treat him as your sixth midfielder.

4. FPL GW10 Key Fixture Analysis
Gameweek 10 provides a mixed bag of fixtures with tough assignments for the top six teams and some highly owned assets going head to head (e.g. Fulham v Brentford).
Tottenham v Aston Villa is one of the key fixtures I want to analyse. Spurs faltered last week with a rare goalless outing from them. Son being absent through injury and Crystal Palace putting in a strong performance at home were the biggest factors.
Son is likely to return and Spurs are back on home turf. Ange will have the team ready and they face Aston Villa who operate with a high defensive line and Spurs scored five goals against in their two fixtures last season. Trust Spurs midfielders and forwards for their next two home fixtures.
Manchester United v Chelsea is the next fixture I want to analyse. Ten Hag has been sacked and suddenly there are now doubts about how the match will play out. We aren’t even sure if it will be a caretaker manager or the new permanent manager at the helm.
Nevertheless, expect to see some improvement from Manchester United but not a complete change in fortune. The players are still the same and have been drilled to a certain system that hasn’t been working.
The likes of Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson should still be likely to provide attacking returns.
