In this blog, we look at FPL Gameweek 1 drafts consisting of the most expensive player(Haaland, £15.0m), most expensive midfielder(Salah, £12.5m) ahead of the 2024/25 FPL season.

2024/25 FPL Gameweek 1 Drafts with Haaland and Salah
Draft 1: Haaland, Salah with Isak, Solanke
- This is one of the current drafts we are in at the moment almost covering all the important price-points.
- Gvardiol(6.0) is the Premium Defender in the draft and this slot can be an Arsenal defender for their good fixtures from GW6. Aina(4.5) and Castagne(4.5) are good full back with decent attacking threat and good fixtures to start the season. Castagne can be Robinson as well!
- One of the misses is probably a Liverpool defender considering good fixture run they have to start the season. Quansah(4.5) offers a cheap route into Liverpool defense and is a decent pick for the short term as he can replace one of the 4.5 million defenders even though he might not be nailed long term.
- The forward line is just Elite with the likes of Haaland, Isak and Solanke– Top 3 Forwards for Goals and xG last season. With Solanke joining a more attacking team in Spurs, He is likely to continue his goal scoring run for another season.
- If you feel Gordon will not be staring the first game due to the lack of proper pre-season you can do Gordon to Eze to upgrade Andersen to Munoz who is a very attacking full back. Munoz got 4 assists, Had 7 Big Chance Involvements from just 16 games last season. Even if we Gordon does not start GW1, he will be a good pick long term.
- Smith Rowe(5.5) and Nkunku(6.5) are right up there are one of the Top Midfield picks at their price points and also having good pre-season form:
- Nkunku – ⚽⚽⚽A
- Smith Rowe – ⚽⚽⚽(One of the goals was scored when he played for Arsenal)

Draft 2: Haaland, Salah and Palmer
- One of the Drafts with the Three-Premium: Haaland, Salah and Palmer.
- This Draft has 4.5 Million Defenders who rotate really well based on the fixtures- Konsa and Burn, Aina and Mykolenko. There is not a Premium Defender in this Draft- TAA/Gvardiol/Arsenal DEF but has enough firepower in attack to make up for it.
- This draft has a Newcastle Triple up in Hall, Gordon, Isak who have excellent fixtures in the first 5 games as seen below. After 5 GWs- Isak can become a Havertz as Arsenal have a great fixture run starting from GW6
- Hall had an excellent pre-season as well with 1 goal, 2 assists playing as LB. It is his spot to lose at the moment as he was preferred at LB over Burn in the pre-season games with Burn playing only as CB.
- Five out of the 7 attackers are Penalty Takers in this Draft- Salah, Palmer, Isak, Haaland and Pedro.
- Joao Pedro slots in as the 5.5 Million Forward in this Draft. Adam Armstrong is a also a good option to consider- Talisman for Southampton who is on penalties.
- Barco is the 4.0 Million Defender enabler in this draft. With Estupinan ruled out for 2 months- The Argentinian full back who started 3/6 Premier League games towards the end of last season is an exciting option as he got good minutes in pre-season and also took some corners. Draft 3: Haaland, Salah, with TAA and Gvardiol
- This Draft is one of the most balanced Haaland + Salah Drafts along with good bench cover.
- This team offers a good overall balance with attacking defenders from good teams and Forwards who are on penalties as well!
- Rogers slots in as the 5.0 Midfielder enabler in this Draft with⚽⚽⚽A A in pre-season as well. With Diaby leaving, it’s Rogers spot to lose right now. He will certainly start the season.
- Jota had a great pre-season with ⚽AAA. He is very likely to start as a striker in GW1 vs IPS(A) as both Darwin and Gakpo did not have a proper season and will only be slowly integrated. Gordon to Jota is also an option in this draft.

Draft 4: Haaland, Salah with Arsenal, City Defense cover
- This is one of my favourite Salah + Haaland drafts as it has good overall balance including defense and a strong bench.
- Raya(5.5) is the cheapest route into an elite Arsenal defense and Gvardiol covers Manchester City defense. Remember that Gvardiol ended last season almost playing like a winger- 4 goals, 2 assists, 68 FPL Points from the last seven games of the season.
- With Olise leaving, Eze will be the main creator and Talisman for Palace along with Penalty and set piece duty as well.
- Muniz slots in as the third striker along with Haaland and Isak with tempting first 3 fixtures- Man United(A), Leicester(H), Ipswich(A). Chris Wood is also an option at 6.0 million with Forest too having a good fixture run at the start- BOU(H), SOU(A), WOL(H). Wood also had a great pre-season with ⚽⚽⚽AA (Read more: Pre-Season Summary for all 20 Premier League Teams)

Draft 5: Haaland, Salah with Saka
- This draft has Haaland + Salah along with Saka/Foden.
- Nkunku + Bailey slot in as the 6.5 Midfielders in this team- Covering up for Premiums in Palmer and Watkins from their teams. This two are arguably the Best 2nd attacker from these teams and could be very good value picks throughout the season. The two 6.5 Midfielders can be switched around later to the likes of Kudus/Pedro Neto/Mitoma when the fixtures ease up. It can also be Eze + 5.5 Midfielder(Smith Rowe/Hudson Odoi/Semenyo).

Draft 6: Haaland, Salah with TAA, Gvardiol and Solanke
- ALL OUT ATTACK DRAFT– This draft has Haaland + Salah along with the Premium Defenders- Trent Alexander Arnold and Gvardiol. No compromises made in Forward line as well with Solanke + Isak joining Haaland.
- The main con of this Draft is that it has a very weak bench- Two 4*5 DEFs and one 4.5 MID along with Rogers in the starting 11. If there are 2-3 injuries in a single Gameweek, this gamble might backfire heavily.
- Rogers(5.0) and Barco(4.0) though rotate well for the start of the season as seen below If you rotate them correctly you will have 0/9 games vs Last season Top 6 and 7/9 games vs Last Season 11th-17th placed & Promoted Teams.
