Euro Fantasy MD4: Round of 16- Best Fixtures & Players to target

In this article, we take a look at the best fixtures and players to focus on Euro 2024 Fantasy MD4: Round of 16. The information is based on the performances during the group stage and the updated Predicted Goals Table (For and Against) for all the 16 remaining teams in the tournament.

Euro Fantasy MD4 – Best Fixtures and Players to Target

Germany vs Denmark (29th of June)

This match is more interesting to focus fantasy-wise compared to the other match on the first day of the round of 16 (Switzerland vs Italy). Germany seems to be the superior team against Denmark, although they might have some issues in their defense with Tah’s suspension and Rudiger’s injury. So the attacking players from Germany are the best fantasy assets to focus for this match.

• I. Gundogan (€7m-MID): The captain and the best attacking asset from Germany because of his impact and secured minutes. Normally he should also be on penalties if he is not feeling an injury like in the first match against Scotland (when he won the penalty but couldn’t take it due to his minor injury).
• J. Musiala (€8.5m-MID): I prefer him over Wirtz because he plays a more important role in the team when they are in the attacking position.

• N. Fullkrug (€7m-FWD): Although he hasn’t started a single match for Germany yet, he could score 2 goals during 73 minutes he plays for the team. There is a possibility that he starts against Denmark instead of Havertz, who hasn’t been sharp during the last two matches.

• C. Eriksen (€7m-MID): If you wish to gamble against Germany and go for a Danish player, he is the clear choice. He already won 2 Man of the Match awards with his solid performances as the key player of Denmark.

Spain vs Georgia (30th of June)

This match is probably the one that so many managers consider to pick players for their fantasy teams. Spain have been one of the best teams in the tournament so far and they could be the only team winning all 3 matches of their group stage (while beating Croatia and Italy in the first two). They have a bunch of interesting picks in different positions that can find their way to your team.

• A. Morata (€7.5m-FWD): He is the main striker of Spain while they have shown many attacking threads during their previous matches. He is also on penalties which enhances his possibility of fantasy returns for our team.
• L. Yamal (€6.5m-FWD): One of the best young stars in the world who has amazed everyone with his quality recently. He proved himself in the tournament during the group stage and is assured of starting in the next match. He plays as a right-wing and is capable of providing an assist or scoring a goal at any moment of the match.
• N. Williams (€7m-MID): Another young Spanish player who brought his high quality to the national team. He plays as a left wing and his advantage compared to Yamal is that he is a Midfielder in the game, while Yamal occupies a Forward’s position.
• Pedri (€7m-MID): He is also very appealing as a midfielder with all the attacking threads he provides according to his role for Spain.
• D. Carvajal (€5.5m-DEF): The best Spanish defender you can pick while he plays very offensively on the right side as he already scored a goal in the first match. Spain have a high chance of keeping a clean sheet in this round which can bring more points to any Spanish defender you pick.
• M. Cucurella (€4.5m-DEF): A perfect cheap choice among Spanish defenders as he is capable of achieving extra points with his high number of Ball Recoveries. (More on Cucurella our differentials blog)
• U.Simon (€5.5m-GK): He is probably the best goalkeeper of this round with Spain’s high chance of finishing the match with a clean sheet.

England vs Slovakia (30th of June)

Although this match might not seem very interesting to invest, England have one of the highest probabilities of keeping a clean sheet in this round. They haven’t been the team that everyone expected at first, as they scored only 2 goals and had a poor performance during the group stage. On the other hand, they haven’t been that bad in defense where they only conceded 1 to be as one of the top defensive performances of the tournament.

• M. Guehi (€4.5m-DEF): The best English defender in the game as he has the highest number of ball recoveries among all players in the group stage.
• J. Pickford (€5m-GK): England’s number one goalkeeper is one of the best goalkeepers you can own for this round with a high chance of gaining clean sheet points.

Portugal vs Slovenia (1st of July)

Portugal is the other team with one of the best fixtures in the round of 16 just similar to Spain. They had a solid performance in their first two matches where they were assured of qualifying as the top team of their group. There are interesting players in different positions that you can pick for your fantasy team, as Portugal is one of the teams with the highest probabilities of scoring goals & keeping a clean sheet in this round.

• C. Ronaldo (€10m-FWD): Although he couldn’t score during the group stage, he could prove himself as the main striker of the team and he is expected to finally start scoring in his sixth Euro appearance. It’s interesting to notice that he had the highest xGI (npxG+xA) among all the players in the competition during the group stage.
• B. Fernandes (€9m-MID): In my opinion, he is still among the top 3 midfielders in the game as he already showed his high quality for Portugal during the first two matches he played.
• B. Silva (€8.5m-MID): Another midfielder of the team who was not expected to shine at first but had such solid performances during the group stage to be the highest-scoring attacking asset of Portugal.
• J. Cancelo (€6m-DEF): The most attacking defender you can own from Portugal who can provide attacking returns and gain cleaning sheet points.
• Pepe (€5m-DEF): At the age of 41, he has a great performance as a center-back for the national team while he is a ball recovery master as well.
• D. Costa (€5m-GK): One of the best goalkeepers in this round you can pick at a fair price with a high chance of keeping a clean sheet.

France vs Belgium (1st of July)

Both teams haven’t had a great performance during the group stage, as each scored only two goals and conceded only one during three matches. It doesn’t seem like a game to focus on the fantasy assets, but I still like some options here that might be worth gambling if you wish to play the game a bit differently.

• K. Mbappe (€11m-FWD): He was a bit unlucky that he couldn’t have more impact during the group stage but still far from the expectations as one of the best players in the world. Maybe this is the game where he can finally prove his quality for France once again and lead them towards the championship as a captain!
• T. Hernandez (€5.5m-DEF) / J. Kounde (€5m-DEF): They are still my two favorite options among France’s defenders as Hernandez has more potential for attacking returns and Kounde is a ball recovery master. Belgium don’t seem sharp in scoring goals and France have a higher chance of keeping a clean sheet in this match.
• K. De Bruyne (€9.5m-MID): If Belgium have a chance to win against France, he is the key player who can make it happen for them. He has been one of the highest-scoring players (fantasy-wise) in the tournament so far and could achieve 2 Man of the Match awards with his great performances in the group stage.

Austria vs Turkiye (2nd of June)

This match is the one I find more interesting, compared to the another match of the 4th and final day of his round (Romania vs Netherlands), to focus on the fantasy assets. Both teams have been among the teams with the most number of goals scored and conceded during the group stage, and it’s also expected to see many goals in this match as well. So I like some attacking options from both teams and specifically some midfielders. With two Turkish main players suspended, Calhanoglu as the captain and probably the best player of the team & Akaydin as one of their main center-backs, I expect Austria to be the superior team in this match.

• C. Baumgartner (€6.5m-MID): The highest scoring player of Austria with the most goal involvements among them during the group stage. (More on our differentials blog)
• M. Sabitzer (€6.5m-MID): Another great pick from Austria who might have a better form at the moment compared to Baumgartner and he also had a higher xGI (npxG+xA) in the group stage. (More on Sabitzer in our differentials blog)
• A. Guler (€6m-MID) & O. Kokcu (€6m-MID): It’s difficult to say which Turkish player is the best pick and they might not be as good as Austrian assets, but I guess one of these two will be the star of Turkiye if they can overcome against Austria in this match.
