In this article, we take a look at the best captaincy options for each day of Euro 2024 Fantasy MD1. There are “Safe” options and “Risky” options for each 5 days of MD1.

Understanding Captaincy in Euro Fantasy

	FPL	2024 Euro Fantasy
Captain	You can pick only one captain for a Gameweek. If he plays and blanks, you can’t do anything about it.	You can select Multiple Captains within a Matchday in a bid to get more points from your captain. However, Captaincy points are accounted only for the player who you leave the armband at the end of the Matchday.
Vice Captain	Yes. Score Double the points when the captain does not play at all	No vice-captain

Euro Fantasy Matchday 1 Fixtures

• Suppose you captain Havertz for the first game and he blanks, you can change your captain to Rodri for the next day. However, this should done before the first game of Day 2, ie. The subs deadline for that particular day.
• Suppose Rodri also blanks, you can change your Captaincy to Kane for Day 3. So it is advisable to have your squad with Captain options from different days within a matchday.
• Suppose Kane scores 2 goals and you are still not happy with it and feel Mbappe can get a hat trick you can switch your Captaincy to Mbappe for Day 4. However, if Mbappe does not perform, you can’t switch back to Kane or any players who has already played. You can only pick players from Day 5 for Captaincy like Bruno or Ronaldo.
• You will double the points only for one player. One player who you have kept as Captain at the final day of that Matchday.

Euro Fantasy MD1 – Best Captain Picks for Day 1(June 14th)

Germany vs Scotland is the only match on the first day and German players are the best options for the captaincy.

• Safe Pick: German attackers like K. Havertz (€7.5m-FWD), F. Wirtz (€7.5m-MID), and I. Gundogan (€7m-MID) are the best options to go safe here. If you own Havertz, he is the best option for me while I don’t find much difference between the other two. Wirtz seems to be more attacking and Gundogan is on penalties, so each one has potential to gain points.
• Risky Pick: M. Mittelstadt (€4m-DEF) is such an appealing option to go differential as your captain. The German fullback has shown many attacking threads recently for the national team and I find him the best option if you wish to gamble on your captaincy, which I assume is worth it.

Euro Fantasy MD2 – Best Captain Picks for Day 2(June 15th)

Italy vs Albania is surely an interesting game to focus on here, while I find Switzerland vs Hungary also tempting if you focus on their talismans.

• Safe Pick: F. Dimarco (€5m-DEF) is the most nailed Italian defender who might have some attacking returns (depending on the team formation) as well as a high possibility of clean sheet points. The other Italian players are far behind him in terms of captaincy for me. So if you have him, he is for sure the safest option for your team on the second day.
• Risky Pick: D. Szoboszlai (€7m-MID) and X. Shaqiri (€6.5m-MID) are the talismans of Hungary and Switzerland and find both players attractive options to go differential. Szoboszlai had great returns during the qualifications and is more secure in terms of minutes, while Shaqiri has shown a better performance recently for his national team.

Euro Fantasy Matchday 1 – Best Captain Picks for Day 3(June 16th)

All 3 games of the third day have some interesting options to go for the captaincy, but England vs Serbia is the one mostly will focus on.

• Safe Pick: H. Kane (€11m-FWD) is one of the best assets in the game and obviously a great captaincy pick here. He is always involved in most of the goals that England score and also on penalties, which logically puts him as the safest selection as your team’s captain.
• Risky Pick: V. Van Dijk (€6m-DEF), D. Dumfries (€5.5m-DEF) and J. Frimpong (€5.5m-DEF) are all great risky options for captaincy against Poland with a possibility of clean sheet points. While Van Dijk is a safer pick overall to select for your team as he 100% starts the match, the other two have more attacking roles but are not certain to start. The point is that Netherlands plays the first match of the day, and if you own any of these three and see their name in the line-up, you can just choose them as your captain. C. Eriksen (€7m-MID) is also another risky option as Denmark will play their easiest match of the group stage against Slovenia and he is the talisman of the team.

Euro Fantasy Matchday 1 – Best Captain Picks for Day 4(June 17th)

France vs Austria is very appealing to focus, while Belgium vs Slovakia also provides some great options for those who want to gamble.

• Safe Pick: K. Mbappe (€11m-FWD) is the clear safe captaincy option of the day and it doesn’t even need any proof. He is just one of the best players in the world and capable of hauling in any match he plays for his national team.
• Risky Pick: Belgian players are also interesting options for those who want to take the risk, especially with their solid performance during the last year. R. Lukaku (€9m-FWD) and K. De Bruyne (€9.5m-MID) are the best options here and they both can gain many fantasy points in their first match of the tournament.

Euro Fantasy Matchday 1 – Best Captain Picks for Day 5(June 18th)

Portugal vs Czechia is the game that everyone will consider for player selection and captaincy on the fifth and last day of MD1.

• Safe Pick: Although it’s difficult to choose one of them as the safe pick, I go for B. Fernandes (€9m-MID) because of his guaranteed minutes. He just has been wonderful for his national team and I assume he will do a great job by gaining many fantasy points here.
• Risky Pick: C. Ronaldo (€10m-FWD) is here for the last time and looking to have a great performance again in the competition as the record-holder for the number of games and goals in the history of this tournament. Undoubtedly he is such a special option if he starts the match and then probably he cannot be called a “risky” pick anymore, because he just does his job perfectly.
