FPL GW21 Scout Picks
FPL GW21 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper
Alisson is the Highest scoring Goal Keeper in the game with 77 points from 18 games averaging 4.27 points/game. Rightfully, he is joint Top among Goal Keepers for clean sheets(6). Alisson is also good for Bonus points- Only Neto(10) and Leno(10) have more Bonus Points than Alisson(9) among GKs this season.

FPL GW21 Scout Picks – Defenders
Pedro Porro leads the defense line despite a tough fixture vs Manchester United(A), because who has Porro for his clean sheet points anyways! Porro has 5 assists from the last 9 games and is always a threat inside the box. Only Trent Alexander Arnold(who is injured now) has a better xGI than Porro among Defenders since GW11.
Pedro Porro Stats since GW11(Rank among DEFs):
- Shots- 20(1st)
- Shots inside the Box- 13(2nd)
- xGI- 4.5(2nd)
- Chances created- 24(2nd)
- Big Chances created- 7(2nd)
- Goal Involvements- 5(Joint 1st)
Alfie Doughty is the next pick in our Scout Selection. Doughty has 4 assists and 1 goal from the last 5 games. He is also third-best in the league for key passes(35) among defenders, behind only Trent(49) and Trippier(52). Doughty is also likely to have a Double Gameweek in GW25/GW27.
Doughty is also on set pieces. He has good fixtures and matchups in the upcoming weeks as discussed in detail in our FPL GW21 Differentials article.
Gabriel rounds up the defense. Arsenal don’t have a clean sheet in last 3 games in the league but it is to kept in mind that Arsenal are still Top 2/Top 3 defense in the league based on underlying numbers and clean sheets. Arsenal will be up against a Palace side without their main man Olise which boosts their clean sheet potential.
Palace GW13-GW20(with Olise) vs GW5-GW12(Without Olise):
- Matches- 8 vs 8
- Shots inside the box- 61 vs 51
- xG- 10.38 vs 8.53
- Goals- 10 vs 7
- Big Chances- 15 vs 11
Palace has scored 10 goals from 8 games since Olise came back from injury. Palace have scored 7 goals from the last 4 games- Olise has been directly involved in 5 off these goals(4 goals, 1 assist). He will be a huge miss for Palace in GW21.

FPL GW21 Scout Picks – Midfielders
Bukayo Saka up against Crystal Palace(H) is the Top Midfield pick for this week. Saka has 6 goals, 8 assists from 19 games this season. Saka’s xGI of 13.2 is only behind Salah among all the Midfielders this season. He also leads the Expected assists chart in Premier League this season as seen below.
There was talk about Saka not being a goal threat couple of weeks before, which he has put to rest. Saka has 4 big chances over the last 2 games, the same number of big chances he had registered in 13 games before that. He also has 9 Shots inside the box, 1.58 xG over the last 2 matches.
Palace(who have not kept a clean sheet since GW12) conceded 20 Big Chances from the last 6 games- 2nd Highest among all the teams during this period. This is an excellent matchup and Saka would be looking to return with a haul in GW21. Saka takes up the arm-band in our GW21 Scout team as he tops our Highly successful Captaincy Metrics.
Phil Foden has 3 assists and 1 goal from the last 3 league games and is in excellent form. Adding to it, Foden also got 2 goals in the FA cup win over Huddersfield. Even with the likes of KDB, Doku and potentially Haaland back, Foden should not lose his place based on the current form he is in. Foden has played 90 minutes in the last 4 league games. Foden should be one of your Top Transfer Targets for GW21 as Manchester City are likely to have a Double Gameweek in GW25 as well.
Foden Stats in last 3 League games: 11 shots, 10 Chances created, 3 big chances created, 1.9 xGI, 25 FPL Points.
Even though Newcastle is a tough fixture on paper, they have not been at their defensive best in recent weeks. Over the last 4 games, Newcastle have conceded 17 Big Chances- Highest among all teams during this period. 9 off these Big Chances they have conceded came against Liverpool in GW20.
Cole Palmer, the next pick rewarded his owners in GW20 massive 18 point haul vs Luton- 2 goals, 1 assist and 3 Bonus Points. Since GW7(when he began to start regularly), Palmer has 8 goals, 5 assists from 13 games averaging a goal contribution/game. Up against a Fulham side who have conceded 9 goals from last 4 games, Palmer should fancy his chances once again.
Palmer Stats since he became a regular(GW7):
- xG- 6.19(2nd among mids)
- xGI- 9.3(2nd among mids)
- Big Chances- 9(5th among mids)
- Goal Involvements- 13(2nd among mids)
- FPL Points- 88(4th among all players)
Pascal Gross(vs Wolves) is next player on the team. Brighton have an excellent run of fixtures coming up as seen below. Gross is second in the league for chances created(52) so far this season, behind only Bruno(54). Since GW10, No player in the league has more assists than Pascal Gross who has 6 assists.
Diogo Jota rounds up the midfield in our FPL GW21 Scout Selection. He has been at his explosive best since returning from injury. The Portuguese international has registered 3 assists and 1 goal in 60 minutes of action, spread across three games. Liverpool will be banking on Jota to get the goals in the absence of the main man Salah. Still at less than 5% ownership, Jota can be a good Differential Pick and is discussed in detail in our FPL GW21 Differentials article.

FPL GW21 Scout Picks – Forwards
Ollie Watkins is one of the stand out forward options for this week. In fact, he is the highest scoring available player in the game(120 points) with Salah(156) and Son(136) off to international duty. Watkins has 9 goals, 11 assists from 20 games this season averaging a goal contribution/game.
Joao Pedro has 4 goals, 1 assist from the last 3 games across all competitions. He is the in-form player and is an excellent budget option at just 5.4 million as he is also on penalties as well. Only Salah(6.3) has a better xGI than Pedro(4.5) among all players in the league over the last 6 games as seen below. Pedro’s other underlying numbers are also good during this time- 16 Shots inside the Box, 9 Shots on Target(2nd highest) and 5 Big Chance involvements(3 Big chances and 2 Big chances created).
De Zebri has also heaped praise on him suggesting that his minutes won’t be a big problem. Pedro has also played 90 minutes in all of his last 3 Premier League games.
De Zerbi on Joao Pedro: He is improving. I’d like him to start the game from the beginning, not in the second half or after 20 minutes.”
