All Premier League Teams Predicted GW18 Lineups
Arsenal
In what came as a bit of a surprise, Tierney started over Zinchenko at left-back. Besides that, the team was as we’d expected and we can expect that to remain the case for Brighton.
Arsenal GW18 Predicted formation:
- 4-3-3
Arsenal GW18 Predicted lineup:
Ramsdale,
White – Saliba – Gabriel – Tierney
Xhaka – Partey – Odegaard
Saka – Nketiah – Martinelli
Arsenal PC/Injury Update(Press conference at 4PM GMT):
- To be added
Aston Villa
Emery continued the trend that Gerrard had set with chopping and changing between his forwards. Just as it looked as if Ings had the favouritism, Watkins started and scored so we can probably expect him to stay in the team against Tottenham. Young also started ahead of Cash at right back but that didn’t really have the desired effect so the Poland international should come back in.
Aston Villa GW18 Predicted Formation:
4-3-2-1
Aston Villa GW18 Predicted Lineup:
Martinez
Cash – Mings – Konsa – Digne
Kamara – McGinn – Luiz
Bailey – Buendia
Watkins
Aston Villa PC/Injury Update:
- Diogo Carlos and Ramsey still ruled out.
Bournemouth
Lloyd Kelly came back into the team after returning to fitness as Mepham dropped out. Jack Stacey also played instead of Christie in a formation change to 442 but you’d suspect that was specifically to deal with Chelsea rather than the strategy going forward.
Bournemouth GW18 Predicted Formation:
4-3-3
Bournemouth GW18 Predicted lineup:
Mark Travers,
Smith – Kelly – Senesi – Zemura
Lerma – Cook – Billing
Christie – Solanke – Moore
Bournemouth PC/Injury Update(Press conference at 1PM GMT):
- To be added
Brighton
In Webster’s absence, Levi Colwill came into the back 4 and we can expect him to stay in the team for now. Mitoma also came in for the injured Welbeck and he too should stay in. This game will probably still come too soon for MacAllister.
After picking up his 5th yellow of the season, Caicedo will miss out against Arsenal so providing Welbeck is fit, he could come in for him with Lallana dropping deeper.
Brighton GW18 Predicted formation
4-2-3-1
Brighton GW18 Predicted lineup:
Sanchez
Veltman – Colwill – Dunk – Estupinan
Gross – Lallana
March – Mitoma – Trossard
Welbeck
Brighton PC/Injury Update:
- De Zebri- “Webster and Welbeck are the only ones unable to play through injury. For them, we have to wait a week or so.”
- De Zebri on keeping Mac Allister and Caicedo- “I would like to keep all our players here, and I would like to add some too. My hope is that Caicedo and Mac Allister will stay with us. “But at the moment I only think about Arsenal. It will be very difficult.”
Brentford
Thomas Frank lined up more or less with what we’d been expecting. The only exception was that of Zanka starting instead of Jansson. You’d have to assume that the Swede wasn’t fully fit yet and he should come back in for West Ham.
Brentford GW18 Predicted formation:
3-4-1-2
Brentford GW18 Predicted lineup:
Raya
Zanka – Mee – Pinnock
Roserlev – Norgaard – Janelt -Jensen – Henry
Mbeumo – Toney
Brentford PC/Injury Update:
Ajer and Hickey are not ready for selection, unfortunately. Ajer trained fully with us today, so it’s very nice to have him in the training group.
“Hickey is getting closer to full training with us, so they’re progressing well and they’re actually a little bit ahead of schedule, so that’s positive, the medical guys have done a top job.
“[Thomas] Strakosha is getting closer, he was involved in the bigger squad against Tottenham but didn’t make it to the bench.
“Shandon [Baptiste] is still out with a groin injury and Frank [Onyeka] won’t play – he’s got a hamstring injury.”
Chelsea
There’s only one place to start when it comes to Chelsea. Reece James went off early in the second half after aggravating the knee injury that kept him out of the World Cup. He’ll be out for a month so Chalobah could start at right back until then.
Elsewhere, Denis Zakaria got his first league start and performed quite well so he should stay in the side. Kovacic & Ziyech are back in training after the World Cup break, but it could be too soon for either to start.
Chelsea GW18 Predicted formation:
3-4-1-2
Chelsea GW18 Predicted lineup:
Kepa
Chalobah – Koulibaly – Thiago Silva – Cucurella
Jorginho – Zakaria – Mount
Sterling – Havertz – Pulisic
Chelsea PC/Injury Update:
- Scan results have regrettably confirmed a setback for the 23-year-old, with Reece James now set to be ruled out for up to a month. – Chelsea official website
Crystal Palace
It was a disastrous return to Premier League action for Crystal Palace as they lost 3-0 to Fulham with two sendings off thrown in there for good measure. Tomkins would probably have come out for Guehi in any case, but Mitchell will be more of a miss and Joel Ward will probably deputise for him.
Crystal Palace GW18 Predicted formation
4-3-3
Crystal Palace GW18 Predicted lineup:
Guaita
Clyne – Guehi – Andersen – Ward
Schlupp – Olise – Doucoure
Ayew – Zaha – Eze
Crystal Palace PC/Injury News:
- To be updated
Everton
After sitting this one out against his parent club, Coady should come straight back in. Gray could also return after McNeill started instead of him. Calvert-Lewin will probably be absent again too so Maupay should stay in the team for now.
Everton GW18 Predicted formation
4-2-3-1
Everton GW18 Predicted lineup
Pickford
Paterson – Tarkowski – Coady – Mykolenko
Gueye -Iwobi – Onana
Gray – Gordon
Maupay
Everton PC/Injury News:
- Lampard confirmed that DCL is fit and will be in squad for GW18. But given the tight schedule in unlikely that he will start.
- Mina is also back in training after a minor cramp issue.
Fulham
Contrary to what many had expected, Aleksandander Mitrovic started against Palace and seemed to be fit and firing. As such, the team will probably stay the same for Southampton.
Fulham GW18 Predicted formation:
4-2-3-1
Fulham Predicted lineup:
Leno
Tete – Diop – Ream – Robinson
Palhinha – Reed
Reid – Andreas – Willian
Mitrovic
Fulham PC/Injury News:
Silva on Mitrovic- “He is ready. I’m not saying he’s 100% fit, but he’s getting better.”
Leeds United
With Tyler Adams suspended, Adam Forshaw came into midfield but that move should be reversed. Everything else should stay the same for Leeds. Summerville is back fit, but it is unlikely that he is risked and he starts.
Leeds United GW18 Predicted formation:
4-2-3-1
Leeds United GW18 Predicted lineup:
Meslier
Kristensen – Koch – Cooper – Struijk
Greenwood – Adams – Roca
Aaronson – Rodrigo – Gnonto
Leeds United PC/Injury News:
- To be updated
Leicester City
Injuries to key defenders and James Maddison resulted in Leicester putting in a drab display against Newcastle. All of those players are expected to miss the Liverpool game too.
Leicester City GW18 Predicted formation:
4-3-3
Leicester City GW18 Predicted lineup:
Ward
Castagne – Amartey – Faes – Thomas
Soumare – Tielemans – Dewsbury-Hall
Perez – Daka – Barnes
Leicester City PC/Injury News:
“[Maddison] won’t be available for the game,” Rodgers told the media at LCFC Training Ground on Wednesday. “He was with Mark [Waller], our doctor, getting some special advice in London today so I’ll wait to hear from them later on.
On Praet, Rodgers added: “He won’t be available either. He’s still sore and struggling with his side so we’ll look to see where he’s at.”
Liverpool
Liverpool have completed the signing of Gakpo from PSV but the game against Leicester might come too soon for him to feature.
Liverpool GW18 Predicted formation
4-3-3
Liverpool GW18 Predicted lineup:
Allison
Alexander-Arnold – Van Dijk – Matip – Robertson
Henderson – Fabinho -Thiago
Salah – Nunez – Oxlade Chamberlain
Liverpool PC/Injury News:
What I heard now, we are obviously very early, which is good, but there might be a chance for Brentford(GW19) – but I think not really, to be honest. Because obviously the first of January is a Bank Holiday and then all the papers, which we don’t have to sign but some other people, will have to be signed on the 2nd until lunchtime. I’m not too positive that that will happen but we will not rush it anyway. So, probably Wolves.
Klopp on Gakpo’s availablity
Fun Fact: Mo Salah is one goal away from becoming the outright 7th highest goal scorer for Liverpool.
Manchester City
As is the case more often than not, Guardiola made a few curious selections. Both first-choice full-backs were rested, as was Foden. We can expect Cancelo and Walker to come back in, but Foden’s place is more unclear seeing as all of the attacking players performed well.
Manchester City GW18 Predicted formation
4-3-3
Manchester City GW18 Predicted lineup:
Ederson
Walker – Stones – Akanji – Cancelo
Rodri – Gundogan – De Bruyne
Foden -Haaland – Grealish
Man City PC/Injury Updates:
- Pep on Alvarez- “He (Alvarez) will come back soon, yeah. After New Year’s Eve, he will be here”.
- Pep on Phillips- “He (Phillips) is coming back fit. He is in condition to train at a high level and to play, and after we will decide”.
Manchester United
Ten Hag was forced to field a back 4 without two of his mainstays of this season as Martinez and Dalot were out. With Dalot still unavailable, Wan Bissaka could retain his spot after performing well but Martinez should come back in, probably at Malacia’s expense.
Manchester United GW18 Predicted formation:
4-2-3-1
Manchester United GW18 Predicted lineup:
De Gea
Wan Bissaka – Varane – Martinez – Shaw
Casemiro – Eriksen
Rashford – Bruno – Anthony
Martial
Man United PC/Injury Updates:
- To be updated soon
Newcastle United
The main news for Newcastle was that Callum Wilson missed out due to illness.
Newcastle United GW18 Predicted formation:
4-3-3
Newcastle United GW18 Predicted lineup:
Pope
Trippier – Botman – Schar – Burn
Longstaff – Guimaraes – Willock
Almiron – Wood – Joelinton
Newcastle United PC/Injury Updates:
Eddie Howe on Callum Wilson:
“Callum has improved. He trained with us yesterday so he’s in a better place.” “We’ll see how he gets through todaybefore deciding if he makes the squad.” Jonjo Shelvey and Emil Krafth are out, while Howe reported “a couple of other niggles within the squad”.
Eddie Howe on Chris Wood:
‘The last few games have probably been his best for us. The Vallecano game I thought he was outstanding. Tactically & physically very good and he carried that on into Leicester. He’s a really dependable character & player.’
This quote probably suggests that Wilson will start from the bench and Wood will be in the starting 11. We feel that he won’t be risked & started for this fixture with the crucial Arsenal game coming right after.
Nottingham Forest
There were a couple of points of note in Forest’s selection. The most interesting from an FPL point of view is that Aurier coming in for Williams. The Ivorian gave a decent account of himself so could well stay in. There was also a new centre back pairing with Worrall and Boly starting together after both were backups for the majority of the season so it’s anyone’s guess as to what happens there going forward.
Lingard also started but he was heavily strapped and had to go off early so you’d assume Gibbs White(if fully fit) comes in for him.
Nottingham Forest GW18 Predicted formation:
4-3-3
Nottingham Forest GW18 Predicted lineup:
Henderson
Aurier – Worrall – Boly – Lodi
Freuler – Mangala – Yates
Awoniyi – Johnson – GibbsWhite
Nottingham Forest PC/Injury Updates:
- “We’ve got a game in a few days, but we’ve also got a busy period after that. We have to bear all of those things in mind.“Jesse walked off the other night and we’re still waiting for that to settle down, in terms of the exact damage, if any at all. We’ll give everybody – those two boys(Gibbs White and Lingard), plus some other kicks and knocks from the game – the best chance we can to get them available for Chelsea.
- Omar Richards, Giulian Biancone, Moussa Niakhate, and Cheikhou Kouyate are long-term absentees.
Southampton
The most interesting selection Nathan Jones made for his first Premier League match in charge was that of Sam Edozie coming into the team. Djenepo also came in but he flattered to deceive so Aribo should regain his spot. Diallo should hold on to his spot with Lavia still not fully recovered.
Southampton GW18 Predicted formation
3-5-2
Southampton GW18 Predicted lineup:
Bazunu
WalkerPeters – Lyanco – Salisu – Perraud
Ward Prowse – Diallo
Aribo – Elyounoussi – Edozie
Che Adams
Southampton PC/Injury Updates:
- To be updated
Spurs
Conte fielded a somewhat makeshift defence due to his players’ World Cup participation but they should all be available to come back in for the fixture against Villa so we should see something more akin to what we’ve become used to from them.
Spurs GW18 Predicted formation:
3-4-3
Spurs GW18 Predicted lineup:
Lloris
Dier – Romero – Lenglet
Doherty – Bentancur – Hojbjerg – Perisic
Kulusevski – Kane – Son
Spurs PC/Injury Updates:
- “Romero is back and he’s available for the game against Aston Villa. Rodrigo(Bentancur), I think we have to wait, maybe today he is going to have an MRI to try to have an evaluation about his injury. For sure tomorrow against Villa, he’s not available. He had an injury in the World Cup and also the timing is more long than my expectation. This question is more for the medical department than me.”
- Conte praised Lenglet, which suggests that he could be ahead of the pecking order with Davies at LCB.
Conte on Lenglet via Football London
“Clement is really good player. We are talking a player who played five years in Barcelona. When you play so many years in this type of club, it means you are a great player. He needed to put himself into a new challenge and when I spoke with him this summer, I was very clear with him, if you come with us and you deserve to play, you will play. I said I think you are a really good player with a good personality. I can tell you it was a big, big surprise for me in a positive way for his attitude, for his commitment, for his behaviour. He is not 100 per cent in the training session, he is 120 per cent if he starts or if he doesn’t start. We are talking about a really good player and our choice was really good.”
West Ham
Moyes went with a lineup we’ve become used to from him and everything points to that remaining the case for Brentford in GW18. The only change you could foresee is that of Scamacca coming in for Antonio if fit. Zouma and Cornet still remain out due to injuries
West Ham GW18 Predicted formation
4-2-3-1
West Ham GW18 Predicted lineup:
Fabianski
Coufal – Kehrer – Dawson – Emerson
Rice – Soucek
Benrahma – Paqueta – Bowen
Antonio
West Ham PC/Injury Updates:
“Gianluca(Scamacca) has done a little bit of training, so we’ll see how he is and monitor him,” Moyes told his pre-match press conference. “He is probably lacking a little bit of match fitness, which would be my biggest worry, but he has done a bit of training so hopefully he will be okay.
“Nayef is still coming back from illness, which we are trying to get him over. He’s had a few days training, which is helping him, but he has lost a bit of weight from the World Cup so we’re trying to build him back up.
“If I can get Nayef involved I will, but I’ll make a decision tomorrow. But, if you’re asking me if he’s ready, I don’t believe he’s quite ready yet.
Wolves
The Wolves lineup was full of numerous surprises particularly further up the field. Hodge started in midfield, as did Hwang up front, neither of whom have been first choice this season. Both did go off after an hour so it may mean that the likes of Nunes and Guedes come in.
Hugo Bueno also went off after 59 minutes so there’s ambiguity over that position too. With the quick turn around, it’s quite conceivable that AitNouri plays against Man United.
Wolves GW18 Predicted formation:
4-3-3
Wolves GW18 Predicted lineup:
Sa
Semedo – Kilman – Collins – AitNouri
Neves – Moutinho – Nunes
Guedes – Costa – Podence
PC/Injury Updates:
- B.Traore, Jonny both available. Podence also declared fit.
- Neto, Kalajdzic, Chiquinho continue to be long term absentees.
