FPL GW18 Scout Picks

FPL GW18 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

Kepa has fully thrown out Mendy as the first choice keeper now. In GW17, he got a clean sheet, made 4 saves, got 2 bonus points to get a 9 point-haul. At just 4.5 million, he is the best value keeper in FPL at the moment. In GW18, Kepa is against a Forest side who have just 5 goals since GW9 which is the lowest in the league. Another clean sheet won’t be a surprise for Chelsea and Kepa.

Kepa in 6 games he has fully played this season:

• FPL Points- 35
• Clean Sheets- 4
• Saves- 25
• Bonus Points- 5

FPL GW18 Scout Picks- Defenders

Trippier vs Leeds(H)

Trippier is a no-brainer in Scout Picks these days and have become a must-own in FPL terms with 108 points(Highest scoring Defender) courtesy 10 clean sheets and 6 attacking returns– 16 returns from 16 games. As expected, his underlying numbers are all also good- He is Top among defenders for Expected Assists, Big chances created, Key Passes and also Bonus Points(20). Newcastle have the most clean sheets(8) and have conceded the least goals(11) this season.

📈🔥Robertson is the Highest Scoring #FPL Defender in a single season with 213 points during the 2018/19 season

During that season, Robertson had 103 points from his first 16 games

Tripper is already on 108 points from the first 16 games. On course to beat that record

Robertson vs Leicester(H)

Even though Liverpool defense is not looking great, Robertson is a good shout from an attacking perspective. Since GW14, Robertson is Top for Chances Created- 14(1st), Big chances created- 4(1st), Successful crosses- 15(1st) among defenders. Leicester have conceded 30 chances from their right flank over the last 6 matches which is the second highest in the league. Robertson would be the one on Leicester’s right flank and has been taking up good attacking spaces off late as seen below.

Shaw vs Wolves(A)

United should have their full strength center back pairing back with Varane and Martinez as center backs. Casimero has looked solid and has shielded the defense really well. Shaw’s next two opponents- Wolves and Bournemouth are ranked 19th and 18th for Open play xG since GW9. There could be another clean sheet for United in GW18.

FPL GW18 Scout Picks- Midfielders

Rashford vs Wolves(A)

Rashford is one of the Best Budget picks and a potential steal at just £6.8. Rashford(10) is only behind Salah(16) among Midfielders in terms of Big chances. Form and fixtures are both on his side. Rashford is also a streak player who gets going when he gets a goal. He had a good outing for England at the World Cup and also returned to score a stunning solo goal in the Carabao Cup vs Burnley , followed by his 14 point haul(1 goal, 1 assist) in GW17 which should boost his confidence.

Salah vs Leicester(H)

Salah should be on Top picks for GW18 after his splendid performance in GW17- 1 goal, 1 assist and 12 points. Even though he hasn’t hit his past season numbers and form, he still 7 goals, 5 assists from 15 games which is a great number. Salah tops all the underlying goal threat numbers among midfielders this season- Big chances(16), Shots inside the box(42), nPxG(7.82).

Almiron vs Leeds(H)

Almiron is the gift that keeps on giving and still 60% of FPL managers find a way to ignore it. Still at just 5.9 million, Almiron has 8 goals, 2 assists from 10 games including 4-double digit FPL hauls. In fact, he is the highest scoring FPL players during this period with 79 FPL points. This is no luck as his underlying numbers have also been good and he has been producing these results over a consistent run.

Key stat

Leeds have conceded the Most Big Chances(19) from last 4 games averaging close to 5 Big chances conceded per game. No wonder they have conceded the most goals(11) during this period too. The man in form Almiron would be licking his lips!

Foden vs Everton(H)

Pep Roulette stuck in GW17 as Foden was benched. This should be largely due to the World Cup fatigue and he should be back in the starting lineup. Everton have conceded 72 chances from the right flank this season which is the highest among all teams. Foden is likely to start as LW where this matchup should get him some chances.

FPL GW18 Scout Picks- Forwards

Haaland vs Everton(H)

Haaland is a no-brainer and also Scout’s Captain pick for FPL GW18. Haaland has 20 goals, 3 assists from 15 games with some amazing underlying numbers. No explanation needed for Haaland at this point.

Havertz vs Forest(A)

Havertz is back in form with a 12-point haul vs Bournemouth in GW17. Forest(A) is a great fixture to target for Havertz as Forest are ranked 2nd for Chances conceded from the center over the last 6 games. He is a great differential pick at just 4.3% TSB and is discussed in detail in our FPL GW18 Differentials article.

Darwin Nunez vs Leicester(H)

Nunez has been a FPL asset who can be described as “So near, yet so far”. He has been in great positions getting those Big chances and accumulating good xG, but hasn’t been able to finish them. In fact he is Top for Big chances/90 minutes in the league with 2.05 Big chances/90 minutes even ahead of Haaland(1.92). He also misses 4 big chances & accumulated 1.15 xG for a return of 2 points in GW17.

We hope that this will be the game where he will turn his fortunes around and give his trusted managers a nice New Year’s present.
