World Cup Fantasy- Scout Picks Matchday 2
World Cup Fantasy Matchday 2 Goalkeepers
Dahmen(Tunisia) vs Australia, $4 million
Dahmen kept a clean sheet against a quality team like Denmark in Matchday 1. He made 5 saves which helped Tunisia finish the game at 0-0. Up against Australia in Matchday 2 who have less attacking potential compared to Denmark, there is likely to be another clean sheet for Tunisia.

Gonda(Japan) vs Costa Rica, $4 million
Costa Rica had a terrible start to the tournament losing 7-0 to Spain while Japan had the best possible start to the tournament upsetting Germany. Costa Rica had no clue on how to take the attack forward with 0 big chances and 0 shots in Matchday 1. If things continue the same way, there should be a clean sheet for Japan in Matchday 2.

World Cup Fantasy Scout Picks- Defenders
Dumfries(Netherlands) vs Ecuador, $6 million
If you have played Euro Fantasy, you would know how attacking Dumfries is as he got 2 goals, 1 assist from 3 group stage games in Euro 2020. Over the last 20 games for Netherlands, Dumfries has 5 goals, 4 assists. He is up against a Ecuador side who has just scored 3 goals from their last 7 matches before winning against Qatar in the World Cup opener. A clean sheet along with an attacking return might be in store for Dumfries!
Luke Shaw(England) vs USA, $5 million
Luke Shaw got an assist in the thumping 6-2 win over Iran. But for a manager like Southgate, he would be more happy had he got the clean sheet and would look to focus on the defensive security. USA looked ordinary vs Wales in the 1-1 draw and were not clinical. So expect a clean sheet from England in Matchday 2. Shaw also has great attacking threat- In his last 5 matches for England in major competitions(Euros and World Cup), Shaw has 4 assists and 1 goal.
Trippier at 5.0 million is another good option who will also be on some set pieces and corners. But we have gone with Shaw, as Trippier is a slight injury doubt for Matchday 2.

Youssouf Sabaly(Senegal) vs Qatar, $4 million
In the opening game of the World Cup, Qatar looked clueless and lost 2-0 to Ecuador. On the other hand, Senegal also lost 2-0 to Netherlands but put in an impressive display. There could be a clean sheet coming Senegal’s way in Matchday 2. One player who caught our eye is Senegal’s right back Sabaly, who looked really impressive taking up some interesting positions and had really good underlying numbers- 2 shots on goal, 3 chances created(2nd highest in the game), 33 touches in the final third(most among all Senegal players). At just 4.0 million, he is one of the best budget picks for Matchday 2.

Alex Sandro(Brazil) vs Switzerland, $5 million
Brazil managed a clean sheet in the opening fixture vs Serbia in Matchday in a convincing 2-0 win. They looked solid in defense and also got the clean sheet. Alex Sandro looked good and was unlucky not to be on the scoresheet after hitting the woodwork with a long range effort.
Borna Sosa(Croatia) vs Canada, $3.5 million
Sosa is one of the best budget enablers in the game coming in at just 3.5 million. Croatia conceded just 4 goals from 10 games in Group H of World Cup Qualifying and also kept a clean sheet in Matchday 1 vs Morocco.
In Matchday 1, Sosa had 2 penalty box touches, 10 touches in the final third and also created one big chance. Domestically also he has been in brilliant attacking form- 8 assists from 13 games combined in Bundesliga and DFB Pokal for VfB Stuttgart this season.

Other Budget Defender option to consider
Abdi Ali(Tunisia) vs Australia, $4million
Probably the most ultra-differential pick among defenders at just 0.1% ownership. Ali plays as a LWB for Tunisia. Tunisia defended really well and get a clean sheet against a good team like Denmark in Matchday 1. Abdi Ali had 1 key pass, 14 touches in the final third and created one chance vs Denmark in MD1. These numbers are not great, but this matchup stat should interest you.

Key stat- Abdi Ali
Apart from conceding the most big chances(7) in Matchday 1, Australia have also conceded the most chances from right flank(9), most crosses from the right flank(19) in Matchday 1. This is where Abdi Ali operates where there maybe a potential attacking return from your 4.0 defender.
World Cup Fantasy Scout Picks- Midfielders
Bukayo Saka(England) vs USA, $8 million
With +7 points for a midfielder goal as per the latest rules, it is wise to go for a midfielder who can get in those goals. Saka scored 2 goals and finished Matchday 1 with most points(15). He has nailed down the RW slot in this team with that performance. In that 6-2 win over Iran, Saka registered the most shots(3) for England despite playing just 70 minutes.
Saka’s MD2 opponent USA looked shaky in defense and were ordinary overall vs Wales in Matchday 1. USA conceded 3 big chances and conceded all of their 5 chances from left flank or center. This is where Saka generally operates and as seen is below maps, Saka(#17) takes up similar attacking positions as Kane(#9) and Sterling(#10) who are both expensive than Saka and failed to match Saka in MD1.
Kevin De Bruyne(Belgium) vs Morocco, $11 million
Belgium scraped through a lucky 1-0 win vs Canada in Matchday 1. They were clueless both in attack and also in terms of tactics. Hazard and Lukaku both are also fighting issues. For a team like this they would often require magic from their star player to turn things around. De Bruyne has been the savior for this team often with 25 goals, 46 assists from 95 games for Belgium. With most set pieces also on De Bruyne, he is our Premium pick in midfield.

Steven Bergwijn(Netherlands) vs Ecuador, $7 million
Bergwijn is arguably the best Out of Position(OOP) midfielders in the World Cup Fantasy game as he plays like a second striker along with Depay. Now that we have +7 points for a midfielder goal, he is really a solid pick. With Depay also likely to be back in starting 11, expect Netherlands to be much better on attacks and more returns for the likes of Bergwijn. In his last 7 starts for Netherlands, he has 5 goals and 1 assist which also involved goals against quality teams like Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Poland.

Dusan Tadic(Serbia) vs Cameroon, $8 milllion
Tadic had a blank in MD1 vs Brazil, but should make up for it in Matchday 2 in a relatively easy game vs Cameroon. Cameroon conceded 3 big chances vs Switzerland which was the joint 4th highest among all teams in Matchday 1. In his last 7 games for Serbia, Tadic has 7 attacking returns(5 assists and 2 goals). Tadic is also on direct free kicks. Tadic also took all the 4 corners that came Serbia’s way in Matchday 1 which improves his assist potential.
Kamada(Japan) vs Costa Rica, $5.5 million
Japan vs Costa Rica is one of the Fixtures to Target in Matchday 2 after the contrasting results they got in Matchday 1. Kamada did not get any attacking return in the 2-1 win, but had a really good time playing as No.10 just behind the striker. With Japan likely to have more possession vs Costa Rica, he will mbe more involved. Kamada was one of the key players in Qualifiers with 3 goals, 2 assists from 8 games. Kamada is nailed to be on corner duty as he took all the 6 corners in MD1 vs Germany.
Other Budget Midfielder option to consider
Mohammed Kudus(Ghana) vs Korea Republic, $6 million
Kudus is the final pick in midfield after putting in an impressive show against Portugal. He did not get an attacking return but took up some interesting spaces in attack and should fancy himself against Korea.
World Cup Fantasy Scout Picks- Forwards
Lionel Messi(Argentina) vs Mexico, $10.5 million
Argentina suffered a shock 2-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia in Matchday 1 and find themselves in a must win situation. They will turn to their main man Messi who scored a penalty in the loss to bail them out of this situation.
Messi has 92 goals, 52 assists from 166 matches for Argentina. His recent form also looks good- 12 goals, 3 assists from 8 last games for country. Messi will also be on all set pieces(Free kicks, Corners) and penalties. With this likely to be his last World Cup, he will be giving in everything to fulfil his dream.

Richarlison(Brazil) vs Switzerland, $7.5 million
Richarlison kicked off Brazil’s World Cup in style scoring both the goals in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia which earned him 11 Fantasy points. He offers a cheap route into Brazil attack with Neymar and Vini Junior both expensive and not returning in Matchday 1. There could be a possible double-digit haul for Richarlison vs Switzerland in MD2, who looked shaky against Cameroon in the first half.

Harry Kane(England) vs USA, $11 million
Harry Kane had an impressive outing in Matchday 1 vs Iran getting 2 assists before being taken off due to an injury scare. Kane also created 2 big chances when he was on the pitch. He will also be on penalty duty when he is on the pitch. Pickford confirmed in an interview that Kane is likely to be fit and start vs USA. Pickford told- “I think he’s(Kane) good, probably been a little bit sore but he’s been out on the grass today with us. He’s fine.”
With transfers available during the Matchday for unlocked players, you can transfer out Harry Kane if he doesn’t start. Lewandowski vs Saudi Arabia, and Mbappe vs Denmark are good direct replacements.
Budget Forward options-
If you are looking for a budget forward for Matchday 2, Ismailla Sarr(6.5) vs Qatar and Depay(8.5) vs Ecuador should be your top picks.
- Depay didn’t start the first game due to fitness issues, but only came on as a sub. He should start in Matchday 2. Netherlands scored a whopping 33 goals from 10 games during the World Cup Qualifying with Memphis Depay topping the list with 12 goals. Depay in fact was the joint top scorer along with Harry Kane among European teams during the Qualifying. On top of this, Depay also had 6 assists which was the second highest among all teams involved. Depay is also on penalties as he scored 4 penalties(Highest) during the Qualifiers.
- Sarr vs Qatar is a tempting budget forward pick. In the Senegal vs Netherlands game, Sarr had the most penalty area touches(8), most shots(3), joint most shots inside the box(2), most chances created(4) among all the players.
