In this blog, let us look at the best MD3 wildcard drafts with pros and cons for each draft going into matchday 3 of world cup fantasy. This blog will be helpful for managers who have the wildcard chip active for matchday 3 and also for managers who have a wildcard active for matchday 2 as you can use the unlimited transfers from MD2 and set a team for MD3.

World Cup Fantasy MD3 Wildcard Drafts
How to use the Wildcard chip in World cup fantasy?
- Once matchday 2 ends and before matchday 3 begins activate your wildcard and set your best team for matchday 3.
- Once matchday 3 begins look for team news and line-ups, actively make transfers between two unlocked players(players who haven’t played yet) based on lineups, and maximize your points for matchday 3. For ex: You have Sane in your MD2 wildcard and when Germany playing 11 comes out you see he’s not starting then you can swap him out for another Germany attacker(Musiala/Gnarby/Gundogan) or other players who have not played yet in MD3 and get their points for MD2
- Remember if you transfer out a player already locked, you’ll still have his points for that matchday and the player you bring in will score you points only in the next matchday.
Matchday 3 Fixtures to Target:
- Netherlands vs Qatar – Netherlands drew with Ecuador which means their place in the round of 16 is not sealed yet and they’ll be going all out against a poor Qatar side.
- Costa Rica vs Germany – Germany have to win and will have to win big against Costa Rica which is promising for their attackers.
- Australia vs Denmark – Denmark are a quality team and they’ll look for a win to have any hopes of a round-of-16 spot.
- Saudi Arabia vs Mexico – Saudi Arabia are still in the running for a knockout stages spot and play against a Mexico side who are struggling to score. At the time of writing Mexico are the only team to have played twice without scoring a goal.
- USA vs Iran – A virtual knockout game with a win crucial for both teams to qualify for the RO16. Attackers from both sides look interesting!
- Canada vs Morocco – Canada have been playing attacking football which also means they are allowing a lot of chances. Morocco are high on confidence following a crucial win over Belgium and could be great option to consider both in attack and defence.
- Serbia vs Switzerland – Serbia missed out on a win against Cameroon after blowing a 3-1 lead, Serbia and Switzerland will need a win to progress to the next round which makes Tadic, Mitrovic, Kostic, and Savic all great options to consider from the Serbian attack.
- Ghana vs Uruguay: Another must-win game for both teams with plenty of quality fantasy assets to consider including Kudus, Rochet, and Nunez.
World Cup Fantasy MD3 Wildcard Draft 1:
MD3 Wildcard Goalkeepers:
- Noppert is up against a Qatar side who have scored only once in 2 games and have registered an xG of only 1.27 in two games. Noppert is also good for save points having made seven saves in two games. Al Owais is another good option to consider at only $4 million playing against Mexico who haven’t scored in the tournament yet and have just had an xG of 0.91 from two games.Al Owais has also made six saves in three games which is pretty decent from a 4 Million budget keeper.
MD3 Wildcard Defenders:
- Raum($4.5 Million) is one of the most attacking full-backs in the World cup so far, he’s the second-best for penalty box touches(7) and joint-highest for final third touches(68) amongst defenders. He’s already registered an assist and with Germany looking to score as much as possible against Costa Rica he could be involved in a few goals.
- Mahele and Dumfries are fantasy football essentials over the years in international tournaments. Mahele has had the 4th most final third touches amongst defenders and is always a great option.
- If you’re looking to double up Denmark defender Kristensen is a worthy candidate with the most touches in the final 3rd, he’s also only 4$ Million.
- Trippier and Shaw are always solid picks and the duo are capable of attacking returns as well.
- Aguerd at $4 Million is a great budget option from the atlas lions defence. If you the budget then Hakimi is also a great option to consider, he has 5 penalty box touches, two attempts on goal, and one attempt on target in two games which isn’t too bad.
MD3 Wildcard Midfielders:
- Spain have been brilliant at the World cup and Olmo has been in good form. He’s had 2 big chances, 12 touches in the box, six attempts on goals(2nd best amongst mids) and 4 shots on target.
- Premier League trio of Saka, Eriksen, and Bruno make up the remaining main midfield option. All three of them have everything to play for in MD3 and are solid options to consider.
MD3 Wildcard Forwards:
- Mbappe is once again having a great world cup and his numbers are extraordinary. He’s had double the penalty box touches compared to any other forward and has had 6 big chances. The only concern is that he might be rested considering France have the top spot almost guaranteed. Good thing is that France play in day two and if he’s benched you can go for other players who are yet to play!
- Messi and Richarlison are the two forwards in the draft. Both of them are crucial for their teams and with injury concerns for Neymar and Antony would mean Richarlison would mostly start in MD3 and if in case he doesn’t then Jesus is a straight swap.
World Cup Fantasy MD3 Wildcard Draft 2:
- A draft based on matchday 2 form and the importance of matchday 3 fixtures. Two players who stood out from MD2 were Ziyech and Musiala, both played a key role for their teams with Ziyech assisting to seal a 2-0 win over Belgium whereas Musiala assisted for Germany in their 1-1 draw.
- Ziyech is up against Canada who have the second worst big chance conceded record so far at the World cup.
- Perisic assisted twice for Croatia in their 4-1 win over Canada. Croatia will be facing Belgium for the top spot in Group F and Perisic once again will be crucial for Croatia.
Note: We’ll keep the draft updated based on the final-day performances from Matchday 2 which will give a clear idea of how teams will approach world cup MD3.

- Jordi Alba is in the team with 3 assists, 2 clean sheets from 2 games so far. Great Captaincy option vs Japan
- Kramaric is in the squad after finding his form with 2 goals vs Canada in Matchday 2. Against a Belgium defense that looks shaky, he may score again.
Other good options to consider on your WC Fantasy MD3 Wildcard team:
Kramaric, Enner Valencia(if fit), Pulisic, Robinson(USA), Morata, Coman, Taremi, Joao Felix, Salem Al Dawari, Modric, Shaw, and Gabriel Jesus(if we get news that he starts).
