We’re halfway through the Group Stage with three Matchdays to go before the Knockouts! It’s time to aim for some green arrows before a long break when we all get unlimited transfers. In this UCL Fantasy MD4 article, I will cover the key points needed to attack the remaining fixtures in the Group Stage: meta discussion, chip strategy, Matchday 1-3 review, teams and players to target, and Limitless Matchday 4 drafts.

UCL Fantasy MD4-6 Meta Discussion
In terms of meta strategy, there’s one main thing to talk about. This regards group position: as we get closer to the end of the Group Stage, teams will rotate depending on the results they need. This is not so important for Matchday 4, but once we get to Matchday 5 and 6, there will be some teams that have clinched their group, others who are in a fight to qualify for the Group Stage, and some who are already disqualified. To accommodate for this information, consider using your transfers in Matchday 5 and 6 to target nailed players in good teams that still have something to play for. As well, use the deadline of UCL Fantasy to your benefit and hold your transfers until as late as possible. Look at early lineups and target assets that you know are starting.
In short, here are the key points regarding fixtures:
- Teams with early lineups on Tuesday in Matchday 4: Copenhagen, Maccabi Haifa, Manchester City, Juventus
- Teams with early lineups on Tuesday in Matchday 5: Copenhagen, Chelsea, Salzburg, Sevilla
- Teams with early lineups on Tuesday in Matchday 6: Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Club Brugge, Porto
- Teams with 9/9 points so far: Bayern Munich, Club Brugge, Manchester City, Napoli, Real Madrid
- Teams with 0/9 points so far: Maccabi Haifa, Rangers, Viktoria Plzen
- Good teams fighting for qualification: AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Liverpool, RB Leipzig, Tottenham
UCL Fantasy MD4 to MD6 Chip Strategy
The second most important thing to consider, in my opinion, is chip strategy. It is generally best to use both Wildcard and Limitless during the Group Stage. Wildcard is pretty useless in the Knockouts, unless there are several big upsets. Limitless has an argument to be used in the Knockouts, as there are likely many big teams with expensive players remaining, however the fixtures are not as favorable to chase big scores. If you have any chips remaining, I’d aim to use them in the final three Matchdays of the Group Stage.
Many have already used their two chips – Wildcard and Limitless – in Matchdays 2 and 3. If you’ve used both of your chips already, I hope they served you well, but you’ll have to plan how to navigate the next three Matchdays with only free transfers.
If you only have your Limitless chip remaining, I would use it in UCL Fantasy Matchday 4. The big teams have favorable fixtures, every team is still chasing three points, and Manchester City have an early game on Tuesday. Man City are notably a team that rotates a lot, and with 9 points and an easy fixture against Copenhagen, we can likely expect the same this week. With Limitless, you can guarantee three Man City starters and load up your team with assets from other big teams. I will include several Limitless drafts later on in the article.
If you only have your Wildcard chip remaining, I would use it sometime in the Group Stage. There’s an argument for each of Matchday 4, 5, and 6, but I would certainly use it before the Knockouts. In Matchday 4, you could use the Man City lineup to your benefit and build a solid, well-rounded team, but you might be a bit shorted by the potential rotation in Matchday 5 and 6. In Matchday 5, you could target good teams that are still fighting for Knockout qualification. In Matchday 6, you could use the Wildcard as a “Free Hit” and target the teams who are still fighting for Knockout qualification with the best fixtures. I don’t see a huge benefit to any choice over the others, so pick at your own discretion.
If you have both Limitless and Wildcard remaining, I would use Limitless in Matchday 4 and Wildcard in Matchday 5 or 6. All the reasons above apply – target the City lineup in Matchday 4 then target good teams with something to play for in Matchday 5 or 6.
UCL Fantasy Matchday 1-3 Review
In case you are unaware, the fixtures in the Group Stage are mirrored – so every team faces the same three teams from Matchdays 1-3 in reverse order in Matchdays 4-6. Due to this, looking back on Matchday 1-3 stats is even more valuable than looking at stats generally is. So, let’s see who performed the best and the worst:
Highest Team xG (Attacks to Buy):
- Napoli (11.1)
- Manchester City (9.2)
- Real Madrid (7.5)
- Bayern Munich (6.1)
- Dortmund (6.0)
- Liverpool (6.0)
Lowest Team xG (Attacks to Target Against):
- Copenhagen (1.4)
- Viktoria Plzen (1.5)
- Dinamo Zagreb (1.6)
- Rangers (1.7)
- Maccabi Haifa (2.0)
Lowest Team xGA (Defenses to Buy):
- Chelsea (1.4)
- Manchester City (1.5)
- Benfica (1.8)
- Tottenham (1.9)
- AC Milan (2.5)
- Bayer Leverkusen (2.5)
- Real Madrid (2.5)
Highest Team xGA (Defenses to Target Against):
- Rangers (8.2)
- Copenhagen (7.7)
- Sevilla (7.0)
- Shakhtar (6.7)
- Ajax (6.2)

UCL Fantasy MD4 Limitless Drafts
In this section, I will go position-by-position and talk about all the picks I would consider. I am on Limitless this week myself, so I have been thinking quite a bit about the choices here. Aside from specific picks, there are two things to note on Limitless this week. First, assuming you can access the app right before Tuesday’s kickoff, everyone on Limitless should have three Man City players who are in the starting lineup. This is the main benefit of Limitless Matchday 4, in my opinion, as I expect City to heavily rotate this week. Secondly, given the fixture split, I would have 10-11 starters who play on Tuesday with a bench of 4 Wednesday players (three Bayern picks included). There are so many good picks on Tuesday that this strategy is viable. In doing so, you can optimize using your subs for your lowest point scorers.
Best GKs (Limitless Matchday 4):
- Tuesday – Courtouis (if fit) or Szczesny
- Wednesday – Alisson, Lloris, or Neuer
Best DEFs (Limitless Matchday 4):
- Tuesday – Alaba, Cancelo (if starts), Carvajal, Sergio Gomez (if starts), Guerreiro, Kostic, and James
- Wednesday – Pavard, Perisic, Tsimikas, and Upamecano
Best MIDs (Limitless Matchday 4):
- Tuesday – whichever City MIDs start, Bellingham, Modric, Nkunku, Okafor, Sterling, and Vinicius Jr.
- Wednesday – Goncalves, Kvaratskhelia, Mane, Salah, Sane, and Son
Best FWDs (Limitless Matchday 4):
- Tuesday – whichever City FWD(s) start, Benzema, Mbappe, Neymar, and Vlahovic
- Wednesday – Nunez, Kane, and Lewandowski
