FPL GW34 Review- Chelsea vs West Ham
Chelsea players dominated the transfers in as well as captaincy this week due to a DGW against West Ham and Manchester United, two clubs that have been subpar defensively in recent times.
However, despite West Ham having 1 senior centre back to pick from, David Moyes rotated his troops against Chelsea and lined them up in banks of 5 defenders and 4 midfielders which Chelsea struggled to break down all game. It took one big moment late on which led to a Chelsea penalty and sending off for Craig Dawson that swung the game. Even though Jorginho had a tame penalty saved, Chelsea were on the front foot and 11-v-10 for the final minutes and eventually got their breakthrough when substitute Pulisic finished well from an Alonso pull back.
Jorginho (5.7, MID) led the xGI with 0.88 but he had the penalty (worth 0.76 xG) to largely thank for it, with 2 chances created in addition.
Timo Werner (8.7, FWD) looked lively again in this 2 striker set up. A touch unlucky to come away without a return, the German had a game-leading 5 shots from inside the box in addition to 2 chances created for an xG of 0.74 and xA of 0.08. His heat map below shows that while he received the initial pass in the inside left channel most times, he often found himself in good positions around the penalty spot. His expected minutes are possibly a bit hard to predict with Chelsea in a good position to seal a top-4 spot soon and an impending FA Cup final where one might expect him to start.
A comment on Kai Havertz who failed to cross the 0.2 xGI threshold for this game, while his average position above (number 29) shows him as the most advanced Chelsea player, he spent more time than usual drifting out on the right-wing which was possibly due to missing the injured Reece James and the underlapping Ruben Loftus-Cheek playing that right wing-back role. This limited his direct penalty box presence.
Mason Mount (7.7, MID) had 6 shots, 2 from inside the box and 3 chances created for an xA of 0.23 and xG of 0.31. He got the full 90 mins with Chelsea chasing the win.
Marcos Alonso (5.6, DEF) had 3 shots, 2 from inside the box with 2 chances created and 1 big chance created for an xGI of 0.28. An encouraging heat map with penalty-box involvement as shown below.
Yarmolenko (5.1, MID) had 3 shots, all from inside the box including 1 big chance and 1 chance created for an xGI of 0.51 playing out-of-position as the center-forward for the rested Antonio.

FPL GW34 Review- Liverpool vs Everton
Liverpool picked up a 2-0 win in the Merseyside Derby. There was worry about potential rotation for Liverpool as well as fear for how high their major assets may score against a struggling Everton team but unfortunately for FH-ers, Jota failed to return despite a start while Salah scored a respectable 6 pointer.
From the popular assets worth picking (hence currently ignoring Origi), Salah (13.2, MID) had 2 shots, both from inside the box and 2 chances created including 1 big chance for an xGI of 0.63.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (8.4, DEF) had 4 chances created for an xA of 0.34.
Robertson (7.3, DEF) will be talked about as an under-the-radar pick every week and will remain owned by under 50% of the Top 10k every week. Another great outing for the left-back, 2 shots, 1 from inside the box, a big chance, and 1 chance created for an xGI of 0.32.
Luis Diaz (7.9, MID) came on as a sub but still managed an impressive 3 shots from inside the box and a big chance created for an xGI of 0.28.
Another excellent pick from the Liverpool defense, Joel Matip (5.1, DEF) had 2 shots from inside the box for an xG of 0.18 thus adding some set-piece goal threat to his strong bonus point potential. A very viable budget third Liverpool asset if funds are tight.
While Everton failed to have any asset cross the 0.2 xGI threshold, Anthony Gordon (4.7, MID) was their standout performer on the eye test and there’s an argument for him having gotten a penalty for his side.

FPL GW34 Review- Burnley vs Wolves
Post-Sean Dyche Burnley have picked up back-to-back wins and look like they’re playing with the kind of freedom we haven’t seen them play with in.. a very long time.
Wout Weghorst (6.4, FWD) had a strong showing in a relatively more attack-oriented Burnley setup with 5 shots, 4 from inside the box including 1 big chance and 3 chances created for a hugely impressive xGI of 1.18. His heat map below suggests a proper all-action target man display with plenty of penalty-area involvement. One to keep an eye on as an outside gamble for Free Hit 37 but also not a priority sell for owners now, in my opinion.
Dwight McNeil (5.5, MID) had an interesting looking heat map in a new role cutting inside and he notched up 2 shots from inside the box and 2 chances created for a healthy xGI of 0.54.
Matej Vydra (5.2, FWD) took his chance in the team with 2 shots including 1 big chance from inside the box for an xG of 0.54 but his starts remain doubtful.

FPL GW34 Review- Brighton vs Southampton
Southampton fought back from 2 goals down to get a draw against Brighton in a game between 2 sides that don’t boast much fantasy interest.
James Ward-Prowse (6.4, MID) had 5 shots, all from outside the box and 2 chances created on his way to an xGI of 0.66.
Danny Welbeck (5.4, FWD) had 5 shots, 4 from inside the box including a day-high 3 big chances for a massive xG of 1.61.
Trossard (5.8, MID) created 1 big chance worth an xA of 0.55 but had 0 shots.
