In this blog, we will cover the best goalkeepers options for FPL 2021/22 season ranging from Budget options, best rotating combinations, and also Set and Forget Goalkeeper options.
Budget FPL GoalKeepers:
There are many budget goalkeeper options this time around with the likes of Bachmann and Forster, Sanchez and Steele, Krul and Gunn, etc. These keepers allow you to spend the lowest amount of budget on goalkeepers and go big elsewhere. At just 8.5m these might be the most famous options this time around in FPL
With 3rd lowest xGC(expected goals conceded) and 12 cleansheets Brighton defense looked solid. Watford’s defensive record in the Championship last season (46 games) 30 goals conceded (record fewest) 23 clean sheets. Norwich kept 18 cleansheets and conceded just 36 goals in Championship last season, Tim Krul had the highest save % of 77.7%, Brentford conceded just 42 goals and kept 17 cleansheets.
The Benefit of this strategy is that you spend the least amount of budget on keepers and hence it allows you to upgrade elsewhere but at the same time there’s a reason these keepers are low priced, the clean sheets might not come so easily and in many games, you’ll be left relying on save points.

Best Rotating FPL Goalkeepers:
FPL managers can spend 9-9.5m on keepers and take full advantage of good fixtures by rotating their keepers. For example – 2 4.5m keepers like Bachmann and Raya or a 5m and 4.5m keeper like Meslier and Sanchez.
A rotating keeper combination of Meslier and Sanchez can avoid your keepers facing a top 6 side for first 15 Gameweeks. Schmeichel and Bachmann together play a top 6 side just 3 times in first 30 Gameweeks.
This is my favorite strategy and I’ve been using it for the last 2 seasons. Since this strategy allows you to attack the fixtures, you can simply start the keeper with the better fixture and bench the other increases your chances of getting a good amount of points from your keeper most game weeks. The only drawback of this strategy is that in some gameweeks both your keepers might have good fixtures hence creating a benching headache.

Premium Set and Forget FPL GoalKeepers:
The likes of Martinez (5.5m), Ederson (6m), Mendy (6m), and Alisson (6m) come under the premium category of goalkeepers. They are complemented by a 4.0m keeper usually hence taking the budget spent on goalkeepers to 9.5-10m.
These keepers are the ones who have the highest chances of keeping a clean sheet, mainly because they are complemented by excellent defenses.
Ederson has won the golden glove in the previous 2 seasons keeping 17 and 19 clean sheets. Mendy came in last season and managed 16 clean sheets in 31 appearances. Martinez was the highest scoring keeper last season with 186 points courtesy of 15 clean sheets and 142 saves, he was a bonus point machine with 27 bps (7 more than second-highest Pope). Alisson, as we know Liverpool’s defense massively suffered due to injuries to key players and managed just 10 clean sheets, but with the return of players like Van Djik, we can see more clean sheets for Liverpool.
This strategy reduces the headache of who to start and who to bench. These keepers have higher chances of keeping clean sheets, but think of it like you are spending around 10m on keepers when you can divide the budget and get a better defender who’ll have a higher point ceiling, plus the save points potential is less too- All 6M keepers were part of bottom 5 in terms of saves.
