We are now nearing the business end of the tournament and it’s getting more difficult to set your teams for Euro Fantasy than ever. To make things clear, let us clarify the rules. You will have 5 free transfers for semi finals and another 5 free transfers for the finals. -4 points will be deducted for every transfer after those 5 free transfers and you cannot carry forward more than one free transfer going into the finals.
So, we will give some basic tips and strategy which you may forget before selecting your team. And also few differential picks who will help you increase your rank!
Strategy and Tips for Euro Fantasy Semi finals:
Hits:
Don’t take unnecessary hits if you are already able to field eleven players. Hits are costly at this stage of the tournament and -4 points would mean a huge deficit even before things begin and that would definitely be a hinderance for your green arrow.
Goal Keepers:
It would not be a wise move to remove any of your goal keepers who are playing in semi-finals- Donnarumma, Schmeichel, Pickford and Simon. You could use your transfer elsewhere to upgrade your team.
Team Combinations:
- Safe to have at least one defender/keeper from all the 4 teams in semi-finals so that you don’t miss out if they keep a cleansheet.
- Managers can have a maximum of 6 players from a single team for semi-finals. But it might be a risky move to own 6 players and would backfire if they don’t qualify for the finals.
- Optimal to have a minimum of 3 players from England, Spain and Italy(even if you think one may not qualify for finals) and one from Denmark(read: Maehle)
- Make sure you will be able to get 10/11 players for the finals with the help of 5 free transfers irrespective of the semifinals results and build your team accordingly.
Differential Picks for Euro Fantasy Semi finals(<10% TSB):
It’s not easy to pick differential players with just few teams left in the competition. But here are a couple of players who you should consider bringing into your team for the semi finals.
Azpilicueta vs Italy- 8% TSB:
Alba has been the more attacking fullback from Spain in the Euros with 4 big chances created, 2 assists from just 4 games. But with arguably the player of the tournament in Spinazolla ruled out, it should open up attacks from the right against Emerson who started just 2 games in the league this season. Ferran Torres and Azpilicueta should fancy their chances on the right side of the pitch. Azpilicueta has 1 goal, 3 shot on target, 1 big chance, 3 key passes from so far from just 3 games.
Dani Olmo vs Italy- 2% TSB:
If Sarabia is ruled out due to injury and Olmo starts, Olmo should be a great differential pick for the semifinals. We will get to know the lineups before the deadline so it is worth waiting and taking a punt on Olmo. Olmo has all the numbers to him back up and a goal should be coming soon and is definitely worth a punt if he starts. He showed glimpses of what he can produce after coming as a substitute after 70 minutes vs Croatia- 2 big chances created and 2 assists to win the game for Spain.
Key stat:
Olmo has 2 assists, 0.70 assists per 90, xG-2.2(2nd highest among midfielders), 17 shots(highest in the tournament), 6 shots on target(3rd most), 4 crosses into the penalty area despite playing just 268 minutes.
