After a hectic round of 16, that saw some big heavyweights going out, with the likes of France, Portugal, Germany, and the Netherlands suffering early exits; a lot of managers’ teams have lost most of their players and are now wondering how to navigate the rest of tournament. In this article I’ll be presenting you with the process I believe you should use in order to help you face this difficult challenge that’s ahead of us in Euro Fantasy MD5.
The first thing you should do, even before opening the fantasy tab on your euro app is looking at the draw and try to predict what nations will go through to the semis and then the final. This should be primarily based on personal opinions and gut feelings. Check other people’s predictions and takes to have a more educated opinion. Another thing you should take into account while trying to predict the outcome of the games is the odds.
Here are the bookie’s favorites to go through to the Euro 2020 Semi Finals
- England 70%
- Spain 58%
- Denmark 48%
- Italy 42%
As you are making your predictions it is natural that you feel more confident about some outcomes than others, so I think you should rank the teams you feel more confident with and let that determine how heavy your investment in that nation is going to be. For example, if I predicted Spain to win but I don’t feel that confident with it, It might be wise to not triple up on them. This process will also help you further down the line in case things go south, minimizing the frustration if some of your predictions come down to be wrong. I am a strong believer that you should always make decisions you feel comfortable with, even when it’s an unpopular view.
Transfers for Euro Fantasy MD5:
A lot of great content has already been published on the top picks and differentials for the next matchdays so I’ll just give you some guidelines on where you should focus your transfer and if you should or should not take hits. Attackers and midfielders have by far higher ceilings, it’s easier to predict their potential attacking returns and, consequently, are better captaincy options. So, in my opinion, you should start restructuring your team with the forward line and the midfield.
Now let’s talk about hits. I think people have a tendency to look at hits like a bad thing to do and avoid, I don’t think this is the case. Don’t get me wrong, you shouldn’t go crazy on 12 and 16 point hits but in such a short tournament you can´t afford to have most of your team eliminated for the last part of it. Make sure you have, at least,11 NAILED ON players, and if need be a hit for a 12th option might be a good idea.
Our Takes on the Euro 2020 MD5 Quarterfinals Fixtures
England vs Ukraine
I’m targeting heavily English players this week. Is it coming home? Well, I certainly think they will go past Ukraine. Shevchenko’s men have made an impressive run to Rome but I think this particular set of English players will not take this game as an easy one. They look focused and determined to win it all and I strongly back them to reach at least the final, especially since the semis and the final are played at Wembley. Also taking into account their impressive defensive record and solidity ( 0 goals conceded) , I think a double or even a triple up is warranted.

Italy vs Belgium
I will not advise bringing in any players from this game. I think whoever wins this game makes it to the final but I
can´t predict with confidence the outcome of this game and as most of us already have some Italian assets and probably one of Lukaku or KDB,I recommend using your precious transfer somewhere else. Just to let you know, I’m edging this to Italy at the moment.

Spain vs Switerzland
There´s something about the Spanish that doesn’t inspire me confidence. Maybe it’s because I’m Portuguese but I have backed them to be knocked out by Croatia and now I’m struggling to choose a winner in this game. Despite this, their improvements are notable and impressive, they have gone from looking flat in attack to a chance creation machine team! Switzerland has obviously been impressive so I think this one will be a close one!

Czech Republic vs Denmark
The Czechs have shocked the world by eliminating the dutch from the competition but I think their fairy tale story ends here. I have backed the Danes, as my dark horses, to reach the semi since the start and I think they’ll do exactly that!
