The second double Gameweek of the season is here. FPL GW24 sees Fulham, Everton, Burnley and Manchester City all play twice. The general consensus is to hand your captain’s armband to player who has two fixtures. However, there are good single Gameweek options to consider for captaincy as well. Let us take a look at all the best captaincy picks for FPL GW24.
FPL GW24 Captaincy Picks
Raheem Sterling vs Spurs(H), Everton(A)
It is always challenging to pick the right player from Manchester City for captaincy. But Raheem Sterling is the standout option, even ahead of Ilkay Gundogan. Sterling has an xG of 2.89 in the last 4 matches, which is the highest among City players. He was extremely unlucky to come away with just one goal from the Liverpool game.
There is a suggestion that Ilkay Gundogan, who is likely to be the most popular option for captaincy in FPL GW24, might play slightly deeper role due to potential absence of Rodri and Fernandinho. If this the case then Sterling’s ceiling is far greater than any other city attacking asset.
Raheem Sterling has a good record against Spurs. He has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 14 matches against the North London side. Only against West Ham, Southampton and Arsenal has he scored more goals against, from among teams currently in the league.

Ruben Dias vs Spurs(H), Everton(A)
Manchester City’s defense has been ever reliable this season. They have conceded just 14 goals this season, at least 8 fewer than the next best tally.
On paper, Spurs and Everton sounds like a tricky proposition in terms of clean sheets. But in fact it is anything but. Spurs in the last 4 matches have an xG of 3.99, only West Brom, Burnley, Palace and Sheffield United have a worse tally. As for Everton, they could be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and that definitely increases the chances of a clean sheet for CIty.
The prospects for the Manchester City defense is high. But why Ruben Dias? It is plain and straight. He is probably the only defender who is guaranteed to start both games.
Note: Dias missed the FA cup tie due to illness. Watch out for Pep Guardiola’s press conference and if he says that Dias is fit, he definitely is a very good option for captain in FPL GW24

Ilkay Gundogan vs Spurs(H), Everton(A)
It goes without saying that Ilkay Gundogan is the most in form player in the league right now. Indeed he has 9 goals and an assist in his last 11 matches.
But there are a couple of caveats FPL managers have to consider heading into FPL GW24. One, is the fact that Gundogan may no longer be on penalties. Two, more critically, as stated earlier, he may have to fill in as a defensive midfielder if indeed both Rodri and Fernandinho are ruled out.
Pro Tip: Find out from Pep’s presser about the fitness of the aforementioned duo, and if they are deemed fit then Gundogan is still a prime captaincy option as 8 of his goals have come from open play, and not penalties. However, if both of them are unfit then it is even worth considering to move him on, let alone not captain him.

Nick Pope vs Crystal Palace(A), Fulham(H)
Can there ever be a better double gameweek fixture for a potential double clean sheet? We certainly think not. Goalkeepers always tend to do well in DGWs but this one seems too good not to pass.
For starters, Crystal Palace are going to be without their talisman Zaha. Without him, the Eagles have lost 17 of their last 19 league games, failing to score in 15 of those matches.
As for their second opponent in FPL GW24, Fulham, they have scored just 17 goals all season, only three other teams have scored fewer. Pope is all set out on a double clean sheet haul.
Burnley themselves, have a phenomenal record against other teams in the bottom 8 of the league. They have conceded just 0.71 goals per match in these games, only Manchester City have conceded fewer.
Burnley have scored the fewest amount of goals this season. Why is that important? Because it means that their games are usually low scoring. This increases the chances of Nick Pope earning bonus points. This is illustrated by the fact that Pope has highest amount of bonus points for a keeper(17), despite only keeping 7 clean sheets.

FPL GW24 Single fixture captaincy picks
Bruno Fernandes vs West Brom(A)
If you are not convinced by any of the double gameweek options, then Bruno Fernandes is your go to player for captain. It goes without saying that the Baggies are the whipping boys this season. No team has conceded more goals and more big chances than Sam Allardyce’s men this campaign.
Bruno scored the only goal of the reverse fixture at Old Trafford and also secured maximum bonus points. Crucially for FPL managers, Bruno only played 45 minutes out of the 120 in the FA cup tie against West Ham, he is therefore fresher than some of the other Manchester United attackers.

Timo Werner vs Newcastle(H)
It has been a while since Timo Werner made our captaincy list. But the German’s form under Tuchel has suggested that a potential big haul is on the way. It may well happen against an injury hit Newcastle side in FPL GW24. The Magpies could be without Lascelles, Schar, Manquillo and Fernandez for the visit to Stamford Bridge.
Werner since the arrival of the new manager has had 3 assists in 3 appearances. He has had an xG of 1.65, 3 big chances and 5 shots in the box in that time. Finally it could be Timo time !
