FPL GW13 Differential picks to consider ahead of GW13 Deadline | ALLABOUTFPL

One Gameweek is done, and another one is on its way in a day’s time. Yes, managers, FPL GW13 starts tomorrow and we have got to put a rather disappointing GW12 behind us and set our teams up once more. This is the time of the year differentials could play a bigger role than any other time because of the fixture congestion and potential rotations made my managers.

As usual, our differential article has five players with all of them having less than 10% ownership and have a high chance of returning for that particular GW and beyond. Check out our top differential options for FPL GW13 below!

Note: All player ownership & price are from the data at the time of writing, subject to change as we move close to the FPL GW13 deadline

FPL GW13 Differential picks

Tomas Soucek vs Crystal Palace (H), £5.0 TSB: 6.0%

Soucek FPL GW13 Differential pick
Soucek is in red hot form right now

After being really unfortunate not to score in initial stages of the season, Tomas Soucek has 3 goals in his last 5 games in the league. In FPL GW13 he takes on a Crystal Palace side that has always been susceptible against crosses and set pieces under Roy Hodgson, and that is exactly what the Czech international thrives on.

When managers are making transfers in this time it is better to look at the festive period fixtures. WestHam have some really good fixtures coming up including a double Gameweek in GW19. Not just that, Soucek is one of those players who is unlikely to get rotated in this period and that could be a big factor.

Soucek numbers:

  • 3 big chances(3rd), 3 goals(2nd), 31 points(5th) among midfielders from GW8- GW12.
  • Best big chances/million among midfielders in FPL this season.
  • 3 goals, 31 points from last 5 games averaging 6.2 points per game.

Ademola Lookman vs Brighton (H), £5.0 TSB: 0.9%

Lookman FPL GW13 Differential pick
Lookman has been the shining star for Fulham, he could pile more misery on Brighton

It is safe to say that Fulham have been impressive in the last 4 GWs. They have beaten Leicester and they have got a point against champions Liverpool too. Now they are past their difficult run of games as they head into a relatively easier set of fixtures starting with a home game against Brighton in FPL GW13.

At the forefront of Fulham’s revival has been Ademola Lookman. The youngster has been the best player for the Cottagers. He has 1 goal and 2 assists in the last 4 matches, which for a player for his price point is amazing. Brighton have struggled on the right side of their defense whenever Tariq Lamptey has been absent. Given the fact that he is likely to miss the GW13 fixture, Lookman can have a good time in front of goal.

Lookman and Fulham numbers:

  • Fulham have 12 big chances(2nd highest) from last 4 games compared to 11 big chances from the first 8 games.
  • Best xG/90(0.34) for any player under 5.0 this season(Minimum 500 mins).

Pro Tip: Diogo Jota is going to have a lot of sellers this GW, and one of Lookman or Soucek are the best alternatives for FPL managers, especially if you want to save some money to invest elsewhere.

Mason Mount vs Wolves (A), £6.8 TSB: 5.7%

Mount FPL GW13 Differential pick
Mason Mount is all set for a big haul this midweek

Mason Mount has been one of Chelsea’s best players this season and he has been in very good form of late. The Englishman was really not to score against Everton last time out. He was denied by the woodwork twice at Goodison Park. Prior to that he did create 7 chances against Leeds, only one of which was converted. In FPL GW13 Mount takes on a Wolves side against whom he scored both home and away last season. In all Mount registered 2 goals and an assist in the two matches against the Black country side.

Mount Stats over the last three weeks:

Shots on goal: 6
Shots on target: 1
Hit woodwork: 2
xG:0.38
Assists:1
Key passes:8
Big chances created:2
xA:1.15

It is safe to say that a big haul is on the horizon for Mount, and it may well be this GW.

Benjamin Mendy vs WestBrom (H), £5.9 TSB:2.1%

FPL GW13 Differential pick Benjamin Mendy
Mendy could be the perfect left field choice for this GW

Manchester City players are the most the frustrating players to own during the festive period because of the Pep-Roulette. But we firmly believe that Benjamin Mendy is likely to start in their FPL GW13 fixture against West Brom. The left back has started the last two home games and has even come up with a goal in that time.

Statistically, West Brom have the worst attacking team in the league. They have the worst xG(8.34), least big chances(5), have the worst big chances created(3) in the league this season. It is safe to say with Mendy you are likely to get a bare minimum of 6 points. Now Mendy may not necessarily play all the games, however, City do have a lot of games with clean sheet potential coming up, and with Mendy’s attacking prowess it is worth taking a punt if you have enough options on your bench to use in case he doesn’t play.

Key stat: Manchester City have the best xCS(2.26), Best xGC(0.78), have 3 clean sheets and haven’t conceded a big chance over the last three weeks.

Harry Maguire vs Sheffield United (A) £5.4 TSB: 3.3%

FPL GW13 Differntial pick Harry Maguire
Manchester United’s improved defense and appealing fixtures make Maguire a very good asset

If ever you wanted a nailed on starter at the back with good fixtures coming up it is Harry Maguire. Manchester United have improved defensively in the last 8 Gameweeks. Indeed, United have given away just 6 goals in the last 8 games as opposed to 11 in the first 3 games. In FPL GW13 they visit Bramall Lane to face a winless Sheffield United who have scored the fewest amount of goals this season(5).

To add more fruit to picking Maguire, he takes on 3 opponents back to back who are all vulnerable from set pieces. Maguire is Manchester United’s biggest threat from set plays. In the next three GWs Maguire takes on the Blades followed by Leeds and Leicester, both of whom have worst record for set pieces this season(6 against). Not far behind are Sheffield United, against whom Roman Saiss, Kurt Zouma, Ben Chilwell and Jan Bednarek have had attacking returns from dead ball situations.

Pro Tip: A lot of FPL managers have a Chelsea defender in their team, but they have some difficult games coming up, now is the perfect time to move on. Harry Maguire is one the best possible replacements for them.
