Planning ahead on Liverpool and West Ham Blank Game week 18

December not calls for Christmas, but also for the festive period in the Premier league where Rotation and blank Game weeks are synonymous.
As we all know Liverpool and west ham face a blank in the FPL GW 18, as Liverpool are playing the club world cup. It’s important we know how to avoid the unwanted hits on Liverpool players.

FPL GW18 PLANNING:

The First Wildcard expires on the GW20 deadline. Just before that, as some of you may know, is Blank Gameweek 18 for West Ham and Liverpool.

This is particularly problematic as it lies in a run of fixtures where you would want 3 Liverpool players both before and after the blank.

Now, there’s no easy way to navigate this. You could leave your expensive Liverpool players on the bench and field fodder.

Work on an expensive bench to cope with this. Or go without Liverpool players in the build-up to the blank. Or, opt for several hits to navigate the blank. The point is, it’s difficult to get around.

However, with the Wildcard, as long as you roll 2 FTs into BGW18, you could bench one and sell two of those Liverpool FPL assets and Wildcard all 3 of them back in afterward on GW19

Moreover, there are favorable fixture swings for other teams you can take advantage of on a GW19 Wildcard – West Ham, Bournemouth, Everton, Man City and Spurs being amongst those teams.

Perhaps more importantly… It’s the perfect timing of a Wildcard to cope with the Christmas rotation period. Up until GW19, games are once a week (with a midweek set of fixtures a couple of weeks beforehand). However, the dates of deadlines are as follows:

Festive Period FPL Fixtures :

GW18: 21st Dec (7)

GW19: 26th Dec (5)

GW20: 28th Dec (2)

GW21: 1st Dec Jan (4)

(Whereby the bracketed number is the number of days after the previous deadline)

It is clear that up to and including GW18, rotation is not an issue. However, GW19-21 will be a rotation-heavy period and you could

Wildcard to have a strong bench for this period without carrying it too long prior to that. You can also cherry-pick the players most likely to play over these three GWs.

Wildcard:

A Wildcard at this time seems invaluable – navigate the blank and Christmas period at the same time, whilst also making the most of multiple fixture swings.

It also would mean you don’t have to try and last 30+ weeks without wildcarding at any point. And, it would most likely be refreshing to change up your team at this stage too.

Alternate teams to look for FPL assets

Considering the fixture lists of the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Everton, Bournemouth, Chelsea to name a few, it is definitely viable to avoid an early Wildcard this season.
