Game week 7 turned out to be a normal FPL gameweek with the most captained player for GW7 Mo Salah blanking in the saturday afternoon kickoff against a solid sheffield United defense, Whereas KDB continued his sensational form against everton. So without much further delay let’s look into the Five talking points from the weekend, weekend in numbers, BPS tracker and last but not the least the ALLABOUTFPL Dream team of the week.
FIVE TALKING POINTS FROM GAME WEEK 7:
- Mahrez Magic against Marco Silva’s Everton
- 5 star Leicester blow newcastle way
- West ham continue their impressive run of form
- Auba haul continues away from home
- Pukki party and Barnes train go silent
1.Mahrez Magic against Marco Silva’s Everton:
Mahrez had a marathon season last time finishing it off with a memorable africa cup of nations victory and returning back straight to join city’s pre season showing immense determination to nail a regular spot in the Man city line up and he has done that to perfection having created the most chance and shots on target over the last four game weeks moving into the top four scoring midfielders in this season’s FPL with two goals and five assists in total over his four starts, recording double-digit FPL hauls on three of those occasions. With sane out for while and kdb suffering a minor injury mahrez looks to be a solid ption for GW8 against a wolves side who aren’t impressive as they were last season.
Mahrez in numbers
Starts – 4
Goals – 2
Assists – 5
10+ scores – 3
Shots per start – 3.5
Key passes per start – 4.5

2. 5 star leicester blow newcastle away:
Leicester city under Brendan rodgers are keeping up with the pre season tag of “TOP 6 Contenders this season” , in fact ever since brendan took over as manager back in march only Man city and Liverpool have scored more points which tells you how good this leicester has been.
Newcastle united proved to be no match to the superior leicester side who attacked and defended together as a unit with Ricardo Pereira opening the scoring with a world class strike, the leicester full back who won the player of the year award last season has now scored in back to back premier league games for the first time in his career, with hayden sent off for a nasty tackle, jamie vardy did come to the party indeed scoring a brace in no time taking his tally to an impressive 16 Premier League goals for Leicester City in 2019. Only Sergio Aguero (20) and Sadio Mane (18) have scored more. with newcastle conceding an own goal wilfred ndidi added the 5 th to seal the deal for Leicester.
3.Auba Haul continues away from home:
Aubameyang along with sergio aguero and callum wilson are the only players to have had attacking returns in all 7 game weeks of the season so far with the gabonese forward scoring a 58 th min equalizer against Man utd in old trafford as the north london side settled for a draw against a poor Man utd side on a boring monday night fixture at Old Trafford.
With Arsenal playing three of their next four fixtures at home and don’t face any of the big 6 until GW17 aubameyang seems to have become a must own now.
4.Pukki party and Barnes Train have gone silent:
It has been a season of contrasting fortunes for the burnley forwards with barnes being the main goal scorer in the opening few games but it has been all chris wood over the last few games with Chris Wood accumulating 5 big chances over the past 2 GW’s, Barnes hasn’t recorded a single one over the past 4 Their numbers seem to be heading in different directions, and with so many forwards putting forward a case for selection in our FPL teams, Barnes might be on borrowed time.
Meanwhile canaries forward Temmu pukki to has displayed a slump in form away from home with norwich once again losing to crystal palace on the road, in fact norwich have lost the last last three away games with a similar scoreline 2-0 with pukki’s number going down drastically away from home
Pukki at home vs away comparison:
- points per game at home vs points per game away-13 vs 3.25
- Shots inside the box per game at home vs away-4 vs 1.75
- Big chances per game at home vs away- 1.75 vs 0.5
- Big chances created per game at home vs away- 0.75 vs 0
- Goal involvement per game at home vs away-86 mins vs 274 mins
But with norwich facing Aston Villa at home in GW8 it might be time for another big haul coming up for the finnish striker
5.West ham Continue their impressive run of form:
West ham have really stepped since the 5-0 mauling at the hands of defending champions Manchester city on the opening game week of the season and are on a unbeaten run since then with the west london side winning three and drawing three taking them to the 5th position with 12 points tied with arsenal and one more than celebrated london rivals chelsea and spurs. key to this impressive run of form is that the west ham defense have become solid at the back with three clean sheets in the last six games and Yarmolenko Yarmolenko (£5.9m) leading the scoring charts with 3 goals in 4 GWs bringing home 31 points over those 4 matches, West Ham now look ahead to favourable fixtures for the next 5 GWs making west ham assets a must own
WEEKEND IN NUMBERS:
- Only Three teams have kept three clean sheets this season- Man city, crystal palace and West Ham United, quite impressive from both Palace and WHU this season defensively.
- kevin de bruyne leads the chances created this season with 29 chances so far this season followed by Trent alexander arnold who has created 23 so far this season.
- Jamie Vardy was the *only* outfield Leicester City player that started not to make successful tackle vs. Newcastle. Çağlar Söyüncü and Dennis Praet were the *only* outfield starters that did not create a chance.
- Abraham had 3 big chances against Brighton, but was wasteful in front of goal which means that he has now missed all his last 5 big chances.
- Newcastle’s xG (expected goals scored) of 0.05 in their 5-0 loss vs Leicester was the lowest to be recorded in a single game this season. Newcastle is a prime fixture for FPL managers to target for clean sheets right now, with Newcastle having by far the lowest xG of all teams this season.
- Another team which is showing signs of improvement defensively is Chelsea, who are ranked best for xGc (expected goals conceded) and shots in the box conceded over the past 2 GW’s. Options are a plenty in the Chelsea defence, with Tomori a bargain at £4.6m
- Holebas has ZERO points in FPL despite playing 527 minute in 6 starts. Says a lot about Watford this year.
- MOST FPL POINTS 2019/20: 63 pts – De Bruyne, 59 pts – Aguero, 53 pts – Salah & Pukki
- Yarmolenko (£5.9m) scored again in GW7 to make it 3 goals in 4 GWs With 31 points over those 4 matches, West Ham now look ahead to favourable fixtures for the next 5 GWs.
- Most goal attempts by midfielders in GW7: Willian – 6 Mahrez – 5 Pedro – 5 Barkley – 4 El Ghazi – 4 all of them very unlikely FPL names this season.
