It’s here lads, yet another gameweek and with the table starting to shape up, here are the captain’s pick for this weekend. With Man City facing a struggling Everton and Arsenal facing United we have tried to give you managers the best possible options for captains
1. Raheem Sterling (MCI) 12.1 million
Sterling has been very impressive this season and having not played in City’s battering of Watford, He’s bound to start against an underachieving Everton. The Everton defence has been very inconsistent and Sterling will be the person to spearhead City attack. Aguero has not scored in 7 out of the last 8 city games vs Everton and that is a factor to consider in choosing the best pick for captain. He has a 31.25% shot conversion rate which is a very decent number but he’s converted 5 out of 7 shots on target and can be relied upon. Kevin De bruyne is also a good shout out in that devastating city attack.
2.Tammy Abraham (CHE) 7.5 Million
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have been really good in attack keeping in mind their options and with the potential return of Callum Hudson Odoi, Tammy can once again be a really good option. They were good against Liverpool and unfortunate to lose but they will certainly look to fancy their chances against Brighton who are in 15th place. Tammy has scored 7 in the PL this season and let’s not forget they came in just 3 games so we know he can be explosive. He had 9 shots on target and converted 7 of them which shows his reliability Budget attackers can be hardly relied upon to be a captain but this season may just be the year where this trend will change.
3.Firmino (LIV) 9.6 million
Yes, it’s Bobby and not the more seemingly obvious options of Salah and Mane. This Man has been on red hot form and has seen his expected goals and assists increase a lot from last season and has gotten 7 out of the possible 9 bonus points from the last 3 games. He also averages 3.80 shots per 90 to Salah’s 2.88 and Mane’s 2.50. Go with Salah if you want a safe option but if you’re willing to take a bet on Firmino as he’s a decent differential option with just 13.3% managers owning him.
4. Jamie Vardy (LEI) 8.9 million
Leicester city have seen a rise in form with Rodgers had the helm and are looking very threatening on attack with a really good display to upset Spurs at home. They host Newcastle at home and despite the Magpies being a very defensive side, expect Vardy and co to do some damage against them. Vardy has just 3 goals and 1 assist to his name but Leicester haven’t had very easy fixtures to begin with battling the likes of Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United. His conversion ratio inside the box is just 40% but there is a huge scope for improvement with easier fixtures incoming for the foxes.
5.Haller (WHU) 7.4 million
Though West Ham have been very impressive defensively, they pose a very good attacking threat through their club record signing Sébastien Haller. Bournemouth stand 6th in the premier league standings just below West Ham and both these teams has surprised a lot of big clubs. Bournemouth have been very inconsistent in defence and have 0 CS so far and hence Haller looks like a great choice to captain and is also a good differential option with only 5.5% of managers having him. He has a 50% conversion rate inside the box and can be lethal.
