AllAboutSpurs

Having not made any new addition to the squad and a delay in moving to the new stadium, Spurs had a turbulent start to the season and there weren’t big expectations as well. But once again pochettino and his men let their game do the talking, and finished 3rd above both their london rivals in the Premier league and had a fairytale run in the UEFA champions league which ended in the final where they were defeated by fellow PL rivals Liverpool courtesy of a third minute penalty from Mo Salah. All this without having to be over reliant on their star striker Harry kane, proving they are no longer “Harry Kane Team“.Having moved to their brand new state of the art home ground and with new signings arriving as well, 2019-20 could might be the year where they could win some trophies.

COYS

STYLE OF PLAY:

Pochettino has used different formations at spurs having tried three at the back in the 2017/18 season, spurs reverted back to 4-2-3-1 formation for the most part of 2018/19 with the forward line being shuffled through out the season due to injuries to their main man Kane. Christian eriksen is key to the spurs midfield linking the attack and defense effortlessly through his all round passing ability.

Pre season form:

21 July Juventus 2-3 Spurs
25 July Spurs 1-2 Man Utd ,30 July Real Madrid 0-1 Spurs
31 July Bayern Munich 2-2 Spurs, Spurs win 6-5 on pens
4 August v Inter Milan (H)

Spurs were impressive throughout the pre season having won three and lost one against Manchester United in Singapore and even won the Audi Cup against Bayern Munich, not sure if it’s counted as a professional trophy!

PLAYER IN’S AND OUT’S:

Having gone 18 months without making any new signings Daniel Levy broke the bank to secure the services of highly rated french midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for €62m (£55.45m) plus €10m in add-ons – eclipsing the £42m paid to Ajax for Davinson Sánchez in 2017.

Spurs new record signing

Spurs have also signed highly rated Leeds United player, Jack Clarke from Leeds for around £10m, rising to a possible £11.5m, and have loaned the 18-year-old back to Elland Road for the season.

Kieran Trippier who feel out of favour towards the end of last season has moved to Atletico madrid to play under Diego Simeone, There was huge speculation that Toby Alderweireld would be leaving considering he had a 25 mil release clause as he is entering his final year at spurs, but talks with Roma have broken down and the commanding Belgium center back is looking all set to stay at spurs.

FPL FAN FAVOURITES FROM LAST SEASON:

Harry Kane, Son, Eriksen, Lucas Moura and Dele Alli where the FPL favourites from spurs last season, with just 2 points separating the top three players from Spurs with eriksen finishing with 161 points with Kane and Son closely behind with 160 and 159 points respectively. With Kane out injured for a while during the season, Lucas Moura stepped up for spurs scoring crucial goals for spurs and ended the season with a respectable 131 points. Keep a close eye on Eriksen who has the knack making important passes in the final third combined with his set piece abilities he is a bonus point magnet. Eriksen also topped the BPS points amongst spurs players and has the highest ICT INDEX of 283.

3 absolute must owns this season:

1.HARRY KANE 11 MIL:

Captain Kane😎

No Kane No gain🔥, One amongst the best premier league strikers over the last decade, Kane had a slightly mixed season last year due to injuries. But with 124 PL goals to his name kane is a must own for the upcoming season. Crucially his price has also dropped by 1.5 mil compared to last season which makes him a value for money premium striker option, if you had any doubts regarding his fitness, do not worry he is back fit and firing in all cylinders, in fact he even scored a worldie against juventus from the half way line with former Arsenal goalkeeper, Schezeny completely caught off the line.

2.CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN 9MIL:

Midfield Maestro⚽

The danish midfield mastero is such a pleasure to watch with the ball on his feet, he is exactly the kind of player who gives your FPL team stability throughout the season as you can expect solid returns week in and week out, With the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele as well his attacking numbers is surely on the rise, Pochettino is also known to rotate his squad during the busy christmas period and during crucial Champions league fixture and the entire spurs front line might be shuffled leaving out Eriksen as the only safer option!

3.LUCAS MOURA 7.5 MIL:

Man Like Moura

The former PSG player had a tough to start to life in the Premier League, but quickly became the spurs go to man having scored crucial goals both in the PL and UCL to take them to the finals, Even though slightly a rotation suspect moura provides great value for money option at 7.5 MIL, with Son suspended till august 25 th Moura looks nailed to start at least for the first two game weeks!

DIFFERENTIALS:

Dele Alli

Dele Alli had a quiet season last year and would be hungry to prove his critics wrong, priced at 8.5 Mil dele alli could well be a differential pick if your trying to save 0.5 mil by choosing him instead of Eriksen, with a ownership of just 2.5% alli could be worth a shot!

pieters

With no new replacements arriving for Tripper, Walker Peiters looks set to start at RB with a price tag of 5MIL he could offer a cheaper route to the Spurs defense.

ONES TO AVOID:

With the spurs back line needing reinforcements, it is safe to say investing 6 mil on hugo lorris is not a wise option, if you are looking for a premium keeper then you might as well look into Ederson or Alisson.

ALLABOUTFPL VERDICT:

With 2 games against defending champions, Man city and North london neighbours, Arsenal in the first five Game weeks it is better not to invest on the spurs defense to begin with and also tripling up on spurs on spurs players does not seem to be an wise option, but with the opening game against newly promoted Aston villa at home Harry kane will definitely look to go big, potential Gameweek 1 captain🔥.
