Having a strong goal scoring forward is absolutely crucial for both PL managers and FPL managers and that is exactly why strikers come at a premium pricing. Owning a striker who can score week in week out is very essential if you want to have a successful FPL season. Premier league clubs have once again splashed the cash to import some of the best talents from the top leagues across the globe. So now let’s look into some of the exciting new strikers signed by Premier league clubs.
NEW STRIKER SIGNINGS:
- MOISE KEAN 7 MIL
- Sébastien Haller 7.5 MIL
- CUTRONE 6 MIL
- JOELINTON 6 MIL
- CHE ADAMS 6 MIL
- NEAL MAUPAY 6 MIL
1.MOISE KEAN EVERTON 7 MIL:
The young and talented Italian was bought by Everton for a transfer fee of £27.5m from Juventus. Kean was eager to join a club that would guarantee a spot in the first team and provide valuable minutes as the lead striker.Last season at Juventus, Kean was only able to appear in 13 matches in Serie A, but managed to score 6 goals and add 1 assist in 533 mins of actually field time.A very impressive start to the young mans career has garnished him some positive words from critics and once things became clear that Juventus were ready to move on from Kean, Everton decided to take a chance.
AllABOUTFPL VERDICT:
Priced at £7.0m in FPL is enticing for managers however, his lack of pre-season at Juventus will be off-putting. He will unlikely to be thrown in from the very start whilst he settles into his new club and builds up his fitness. Working around certain budgets in FPL is difficult and many managers will look for bargain forwards to fill out the main squad, while also trying to balance the remainder of the squad, so Kean would fit into this. I truly think, should Silva give him game time from the start, Moise Kean could break out and be a fantastic option at his price given Everton’s opening 10 fixtures.
Everton have a great run of fixtures to start the season with Man City being the toughest challenge in GW7. From GW1-GW6 we will have a good idea of what the formation will look like and at what point Kean is to get that striker spot for himself. There is no better situation for him to take control of the striker position than what lies in front of him to start the season and at £7.0m, he could certainly be that 2nd striker for our FPL squads.
2. Sebastian Haller WHU 7.5 MIL:
The former EINTRA FRANKFURT forward amazed a career high 15 goals and 9 assists last season and in the process created a deadly combination with Jovic to take Frankfurt to the semi finals of the Europa league where they lost to eventual champions Chelsea. The signing of Haller is certain to improve the attacking potential of the side, combined with the creativity around him, is sure to make West Ham a team to look out for.
Haller has been slotted into the Forwards category and priced at 7.5 million pounds, quite the average price for any striker playing outside the top 6, but provided he makes a good start in the league with the Hammers, that ownership rate alongside his name is sure to shoot up and is also sure to propel West Ham higher up the Premier League hierarchy this season. More exciting to note is his partnership with the creative forces of West Ham in Felipe Anderson, Michail Antonio and the aforementioned Fornals – expect this one to be a cracking combination!
ALLABOUTFPL VERDICT:
With his ability, his reasonable price tag and some favourable early fixtures, Haller is certainly one that’s worth a punt from the get-go.
3.PATRICK CUTRONE WOLVES 7 MIL:
Another young Italian striker who has arrived at Wolves to play in the Premier league. As much as Cutrone could pose an FPL threat to Jota and Jiménez, it is fair to say that he’s unlikely to get immediate starts in the Premier League. It would probably take a serious injury to one of Wolves’ current first-choice pair for Cutrone to get thrown into the deep end straight away. Furthermore, Morgan Gibbs-White (£5.0m) has enjoyed most of pre-season in the centre-forward role alongside Jota in light of Jiménez’s commitments with Mexico and is probably in better shape to start there in Gameweek 1 if needed.
ALLABOUTFPL VERDICT:
In my estimation, Cutrone is definitely one to watch but he would need to do amazingly well, or get lucky with injuries to break into the Premier League side straight away. For now, he could be the ideal super-sub which would, of course, render him a little ineffective as an FPL option at first.
4.JOELINTON NEWCASTLE UTD 6 MIL:
Another Bundesliga striker who has made the switch to the Premier League, Joelinton scored 7 goals and assisted further five goals at Hoffenheim.Compared with brazilian counterpart Roberto Firmino who also played for Hoffenheim before moving to Liverpool where he has went to establish himself as one of the best strikers in the world. Joelinton is versatile and strong forward, likes to drop back to receives pass to open space for teammates or he burst himself to exploit the space with his creative dribbling skills. It will be interesting to watch how he can be right replacement for Rondon at Newcastle.
ALLABOUTFPL VERDICT:
With newcastle in transition having replaced Rafa Benitez with Steve bruce and with a tough set of fixtures to begin with it is better to have a look at his performances before picking him up.However it would be exciting to see how he combines with Miguel Almiron and fellow new signing Saint-maximin. If the three can combine well enough then there is a good value for money player in JOELINTON.
5.CHE ADAMS SOU 6MIL:
With pace and power in abundance, Che adams arrives in the Premier league stage having scored 22-goal for Birmingham in what was his best season of his career to date which saw him nominated for the EFL Player of the Year Award, as well as scooping Players’ Player of the Season and Supporters’ Player of the Season awards in May. He arrives on the south coast with an insatiable work ethic to improve and make the step up to the Premier League as seamless as the ones before on his remarkable rise. With manager Ralph Hasenhüttl making no secret that a player of his profile is perfect for his Saints side, he has all the attributes to do just that.
ALLABOUTFPL VERDICT:
Having scored three goals in preseason as well, it is easy to say adams has settled in comfortably and is looking solid, with Ralph Hasenhüttl playing attacking brand of football Adams could well be the differential striker we all have been desperately looking for! At a price of 6 million and some pretty decent fixtures adams is the best striker available in the 6 MIL bracket.
NEAL MAUPAY BHA 6 MIL:
Another championship forward who was absolutely relentless in front of the goal for Brentford having scored 25 goals and assisting another 8 goals as well it is safe to say if Brighton have got a proven goal scorer and a long term replacement for the aging Glen Murray.
ALLABOUTFPL VERDICT:
Having priced at 6 MIL Maupay is another risk free investment and could slot in to take the third striker role, but having arrived late and with no pre season games under his belt it is unlikely that he will start immedietly for Brighton, it is safe to not to jump on him directly but maupay is defiently one to look for in the longer run.
If you’re looking for a Brighton attacker then we would advise you to pick Tossard the belgium winger has had a great pre season as well and looks to be a great differential pick!
Ones to avoid at the beginning of the season:
Watford have just announced the signing of Danny Welbeck who is to be reunited with Man Utd teammates craig cathcart and Tom cleverley, but with Deulofeu and Deeney looking comfortable up front it is better to see how welbeck slots into the watford front line.
Tammy Abraham is essentially a new signing for chelsea, but with Giroud, Batshuayi competing as well for the forward position it is better to wait and watch who Lampard puts his trust upon to lead the front line.
