After a low scoring GW2 lot of managers hit the panic button with close to half a million wildcards being played ahead of GW3, the main reasons where that there were some pretty obvious must owns including the likes of pukki, sterling, salah and barnes to name a few, and also the lack of clean sheets this season that affected managers who decided to go heavy in defense, nevertheless there was loads of goals, upsets and some late drama in GW3, let’s look into the talking points from GW3.
5 talking points from GW3:
- SALAH at it again
- MADDISON Masterclass
- Hallerlujah!
- TAA vs Robertson
- Mount and Pukki show
1.Salah at it again:
Mohammad Salah ,the Egyptian King was at it again for Liverpool this game week against Arsenal. As mentioned in the build-up to this game, Liverpool’s front three have been in terrific form against the Gunners and it is save to say that the winger has proved it yet it again.
Salah was a one of the most transferred out players of the game week after more than 100,000 managers preferred Mane over him, but the 12.5 million worth midfielder scored two and is now back to his best. Salah has now scored 59 goals in the Premier league for Liverpool and has no plans of stopping, he is genuine captain contender for the upcoming game week when Liverpool face Burnley .
Mohamed Salah’s game by numbers vs. Arsenal:
20/30 final third passes
5 shots (2 on target)
4 ball recoveries
3/3 take-ons
2 goals
2. Madisson Masterclass:
James Maddison has been a revelation in the Premier league since he joined Leicester, he has created the most goal scoring chances in the league. The Englishmen delivered a outside foot beauty to help Jamie Vardy begin his party for this season. Coming in at price of 7.0 million he has already secured 14 FPL points this season. It is safe to say that Maddison will be a great pick for a budget friendly midfield for any manager.
Leicester mostly play on the front foot under Brendon Rogers and James Maddison is the player that will benefit the most from this, his 2 goal assist tally is not going to slow down.
James Maddison’s last two games:
A vs. Chelsea
A vs. Sheffield United
3. Hallerlujah!
West Ham payed a huge amount of 45 million for the services of the striker Sebastian Haller in the summer transfer window and after seeing the way he played against Watford this week we believe he could be worth every penny they put in the deal. Haller is outstanding poacher and is displaying tremendous movement both inside the box and also between the defenders, he has set into the London based side very well and will be a good pick priced 7.4 million only.
Haller scored 15 goals and created 9 in the previous season in Germany and has had a good start to life in England. With the creativity of Lanzini and Anderson along side him, it can said with full confidence that he Haller will the main man for West Ham in the upcoming matches.
The premier league has seen many outstanding french forwards in the past, Haller is displaying the potential to become one of them and perfom at their levels.
Sebastien Haller’s game by numbers vs. Watford
71% pass accuracy
5 aerial duels won
4 shots (3 on target)
3 fouls won
2 goals
ALLABOUTFPL VERDICT:
Sebastian Haller has become a real mid priced forward option (7.4m) with his brace against Watford. Had the most shots on target (3) of any forward this GW and had an xG of 1.82 against watford which was the highest for forwards in GW3. West Ham have great fixtures ahead, and he’s a clear differential at 3% ownership.
4.Trent Alexander Arnold VS Andy Robertson:
TAA or robertson was one of the biggest doubts in FPL managers minds ever since the game went live this season, with three games over already the liverpool defense that kept 22 CS last season has failed to keep one this season, putting FPL who trusted the liverpool defense in a spot of bother. looking at the attacking returns Trent has recorded two assists so far earning a bonus point as well against Arsenal, Robertson however has not had an attacking so for this season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold vs. Arsenal:
- Most Touches- 108
- Most passes (71)
- Most passes in the opp. half (60)
- Most crosses (13)
- Most chances created (6) and an assist to go with it.
Robertson vs Arsenal:
- 0.12 Expected goals(xG), 0.58 Expected assists(xA)
- 3 shots
- 3 key passes
- 1 Big chance created
There hasn’t been a more unlucky player than Andrew Robertson this season as he is yet to get a return in spite of being relentless going forward, but we would advice you not to get rid of robertson with some easy fixtures coming up attacking returns are definitely around the corner!
5. The Mount and Pukki show:
Norwich hosted Chelsea this gameweek in which two players shined brightly for their sides they are Mason Mount and Teemu Pukki.
After Lampard has taken over Chelsea, Mason Mount has been integral to the team’s success the youngster has scored 2 goals already, but the most important feature is his pressing. Mason mount runs like the wind when chelsea loose the ball in the final third he is the first to press and wins a lot of second balls for his team. The goal Chelsea scored against Leicester was also created because Mount pushed Ndidi into mistake and scoring eventually.
Teemu Eino Antero Pukki the Finnish centre forward has left where he started with Norwich last season he scored in the all game he has featured this season for the canaries this season. Pukki has already scored more goals against the top six than Romelu Lukaku managed in his two year stint at Manchester United. Coming at a price of 6.9 million it advisable to put him your team before the price rises again.
Pukki has already scored 5 this season out of his 9 shots with a conversion percentage of 56% if is Norwich’s player to watch out if they have any chance of staying up this season.
Weekend in numbers:
- Teemu Pukki has scored more goals this august than any Huddersfield player scored all last seasons.
- Trent alexander arnold created the most chances, more than any one else on the pitch
- Liverpool, Man city and West ham created the most number of big chances in GW3.FOUR BIG CHANCES.
- Wolves created just one big chance against a solid burnley defense.
- Norwich games will provide plenty of goals, as this GW proved. They know how to attack (and counter attack) but looked poor in defence for large periods. Norwich conceded the second most shots (23) of all teams this GW, but had the highest shot accuracy rate (83%).
- Heung-min Son had the highest number of goal attempts (6) and second highest number of penalty touches (10) of all midfielders this GW.
- TYRONE MINGS has the most headed clearances(15) and blocked shots(7) this season earning him a BPS score of 73 and 3 bonus points in three GW’s
- Even after conceding two goals Man Utd’s defensive stats were still good, eg. they conceded the least shots of all teams this GW.
- We can now surely say the weekly European hangover is affecting Wolves and their assets. All 3 PL games have been played 3 days after a Europa league qualifier: 3 games without a win, only two big chances created in 3 games and only 2 goals scored.
- Top 5 players for creativity according to FPL’s metric over the first 3 GWs: De Bruyne – 207.4 , Alexander-Arnold – 146.1 Buendia – 145.1 Maddison – 138.7 Lanzini – 137.7
- Manchester city have created the most number of big chances-14, with wolves being the lowest with only two big chances across the first three weeks.
- Just 5/40 Clean sheets in the past 2 GW’s Everton, Sheffield, Southampton, Aston villa and Newcastle being the ones who kept a CS.
Bonus point system tracker:
Goalkeepers: Pope 66, Patricio 64 and pickford 62
Nick Pope was almost sure of clean sheet against wolves before a 97 th minute injury time penalty from Raul jimenez ruined the party, but his save points across the three games has put on top of the keepers BPS scoring.
Defenders: Dunk 76, Mings and Mina both 73 and pieters 68
Dunk scored a goal against southampton only for VAR to turn it down causing huge dissapoinment amongst Dunk owners, but thanks to his allround ability dunk still leads the BPS for defenders ,TYRONE MINGS has the most headed clearances(15) and blocked shots(7) this season earning him a BPS score of 73 and 3 bonus points in three GW’s surely a one to consider in the upcoming games.
Another interesting point to note is that out of the top 4 defenders in the BPS scoring three of them are CB’s.
Midfielders: Sterling 105 Kdb 103 and Salah 83
Sterling scored against BOU meaning he is the only midfielder to have scored in all three GW’s, teammate KDB was unlucky not to be on the scoresheet against BOU but grabbed an assist meaning he is close behind sterling in the BPS scoring.
Strikers: Pukki 154, Aguero 112 and Barnes 103
Pukki became the first player to cross 100 BPS last week and has already crossed 150 BPS within a GW such has been his impact this season.
Aguero scored two against BOU remaining FPL managers how deadly he could be also with Jesus injured until GW5, Aguero could be in for a lot of action in GW4
