Hi everyone. Welcome to our second article for allaboutfpl for the 25/26 season. In case you missed it, please do check our first article where we have analyzed the fixtures from a macro level over the first 10 GWs for 25/26 season along with which teams to target from an attacking and defensive point of view. FPL 2025/26 Team Structure and Planning based on Fixtures
Lets first look at the updated fixture ticker from an attacking and defensive point of view for a 6 GW window. As mentioned earlier, these have been created basis the xG/game and xGA/game values for home and away fixtures for each team. Detailed methodology explained in previous article.
Teams to target for Attacking assets:

- Liverpool: Last year’s Premier league winners are at the top. While they do face Newcastle and Arsenal in GWs 2 and 3, they have 4 other green fixtures and end up with the highest calculated attacking score.
- Chelsea: Next up is Chelsea with green fixtures in the first 4 GWs – CRY (H), WHU (A), FUL (H) and BRE (A). Overall they have 5/6 green fixtures in the first 6 GWs.
- Manchester City: City is up at 3rd place with 4 green fixtures including a promoted side, Burnley, in GW6. Arsenal at Emirates is the only tricky fixture in the first 6 GWs.
- Crystal Palace: Palace is interestingly at 4th place basis the calculated attacking score. 3 green fixtures which include hosting promoted side Sunderland at home.
- Tottenham: Thomas Frank’s Tottenham have a good start to the season from an attacking point of view with 4 green fixtures. They host promoted side, Burnley, at home in GW1 which is immediately followed by a trip to Etihad in GW2.
- Bournemouth: Bournemouth round up the top 6 teams for attacking assets with 3 green fixtures and also a trip away to Leeds.
Teams to Target for Defensive assets:

- Liverpool: Liverpool are at the top here as well. They had 14 clean sheets last season – highest across all clubs. They also had the second lowest GA (41) and xGA (38.6). While they have only 2 green fixtures, they do have the lowest calculated score (best score) from a defensive point of view.
- Nottingham Forest: 4 green fixtures for Forest, which includes 2 promoted sides – Sunderland and Burnley. Forest kept 13 clean sheets last season.
- Arsenal: While they were quite low (8th) basis attacking score, they are 3rd basis the defensive score. However, they do have Liverpool, Man City and Newcastle in the first 6.
- Manchester City: 4 green fixtures in the first 6. City also kept 13 clean sheets last season. 2 clean sheets so far in the Club World Cup as well.
- Everton: They also have 4 green fixtures in the first 6. I am sure Pickford will be a popular pick at the start of the season. He was last season’s top scoring goalkeeper by points (158).
- Brentford: Brentford complete the top 6 basis defensive scores, they have 2 green fixtures.

FPL 2025/26 Team Structure and Planning based on Fixtures:
Now lets move to the team structure. First lets look at goalkeepers and defenders.
Goalkeepers:
I have looked at a longer period for goal keepers (first 10 GWs) as we might use transfers for outfield players but might not be keen to make one for goalkeepers. I have not finalized a wild card strategy yet so that hasn’t been incorporated.

As shown in table 3, Raya/Sels and Raya/Pickford have 10 and 9 green fixtures respectively, which include 4 and 3 promoted sides respectively. However these are the expensive pairs at ~10.5m. All pricing in this article has been taken via the current predicted prices on FPL Team.

My current favorite is the 9.5m combo of Pickford/Sa. Only 7 green fixtures but that does include 5 promoted sides.
Defenders:
The table given here (table 4) has most of the key defenders from our target teams for defensive assets along with a few others – attacking defenders like Munoz, Porro, Cucurella and so on. Basically this is the set of defenders that I am currently considering for GW1. I have also added Frimpong in this list. His stats are from Leverkusen from last season. For all other defenders, the stats have been taken from the Premier League from last season. The top 5 for each metric have been highlighted in green.

Now basis our teams to target, I definitely want one defender each from the top 3 teams – Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Arsenal. Assets to consider:
- Liverpool – Frimpong, Kerkez or VVD
- Forest – Milenkovic, Aina or Nico Williams
- Arsenal – Gabriel or Saliba

I would definitely like one asset from Man City as well but I will not be taking one in GW1, mainly to check Guardiola’s preferred back 4 over the first few GWs. While Gvardiol was the most nailed defender last season, Ait-Nouri could now take up the spot on the left and provide the attacking threat instead.
In the current Club World Cup as well, they have had 2 completely different back 4s in the first 2 games.
– O’Reilly, Ake, Reis and Lewis in the first game
– Ait- Nouri, Gvardiol, Akanji and Khusanov in the second
Guardiola has spoken about rotation (or Pep Roulette as it is more popularly known) as well during the current Club World Cup. He said “Basically, everybody is going to play in this tournament. Everyone has to be involved otherwise it isn’t sustainable for the season, for physicality and for team spirit.”
Next up is Everton. I don’t mind an Everton double up (with Pickford) as they could have good 4.5m options again like Mykolenko and Tarkowski. For the 5th spot I am keen on Munoz, more from an attacking point of view. While Palace are ranked 12th in the defensive difficulty ticker, they are 4th in attacking. Munoz had the highest overall npxG+xAG among defenders last season – 10.5, higher than ever Trent Alexander-Arnold at 9.2

So that’s our defensive structure. One asset each from Liverpool, Arsenal, Forest, Everton and Palace. Lets move on to attackers next.

Midfielders and Forwards:
Similar to the table for defenders, I have included the key attacking assets in this table. The top 5 for each metric have been highlighted again. I have focused on mainly assets from the target teams, which is why players like Mbeumo (who could move to Man United) is not in the table even though he was the second highest scorer by points last season.

Overall basis the attacking fixture difficulty ticker and teams to target, I am keen on at least 2x Liverpool and 2x Chelsea. For Liverpool, Salah is the obvious first choice – 344 points last season. In fact if you see the table, he is among the top 5 for all metrics except shots/90 where he narrowly misses out. 4 green fixtures in the first 6, he is definitely a good captaincy choice for those GWs.
While Wirtz is a good option for the second, I have picked Diaz (2m cheaper) in my current draft. Diaz was the second highest points scorer for Liverpool with 183 points.
For the 2x Chelsea, there are 3 options – Palmer, Enzo and Delap. Enzo scored one, assisted 2 in the current Club World Cup. Similarly, Delap too has a goal and an assist. Palmer has had no returns in the Club World Cup so far but he was the third highest scorer by points (214) last season after Salah and Mbeumo. I have Palmer and Delap in my current draft.

Next, I have gone with 2x Bournemouth. While they do have LIV (A) in the first game week, next 3 are green fixtures with WOL(H), TOT(A) and BHA(H). I don’t mind a Bournemouth double up for this run, their assets should be cheaper as well. Key assets here are Semenyo (165 points last season, though has been linked with other clubs in the current transfer window), Kluivert (158 points) and Evanilson (128 points).

That has completed 6 attacking assets out of the 2 spots. For the final 2, we should definitely have one player each from Spurs and Man City. I currently don’t have Haaland in my current draft, I have had Doku or Marmoush or Foden in my various drafts so far. I haven’t been able to find the right balance in a Salah + Haaland draft yet. Also among Salah, Palmer and Haaland – I am currently more keen on the first 2 – at least for the initial run.
For Spurs, I have gone with Solanke to complete a front 3 of Solanke – Delap – Evanilson. Sharing my current draft basis the proposed team structure here.
