FPL GW33 Double Gameweek:
When will we know the exact Doubles for GW33?
Before the GW30 deadline or even before that(Only after GW25)
Teams that blank in GW29(Carabao Cup finals) are likely to double in GW33. For example, If Liverpool do not reach the Carabao Cup final, they are very unlikely to double in GW33.
Other than this, If Manchester United and Tottenham reach the FA Cup semis and are still involved in other Cup competitions, they are likely to double in GW33. Anywhere between 4-8 teams are likely to Double in GW33. Note that Below is just a Prediction/Projection based on the assumption of some of the Cup results that 6 teams will double in GW33.
Projected Doubles for GW33:
Aston Villa | Vs NEW(H), LIV(H) |
Bournemouth | Vs CRY(A), MUN(H) |
Crystal Palace | Vs BOU(H), NEW(A) |
Liverpool | Vs LEI(A), AVL(A) |
Manchester United | Vs WOL(H), BOU(A) |
Newcastle United | Vs AVL(A), CRY(H) |
FPL GW34 Blank Gameweek:
When will know the exact blanks for GW34?
Before the GW30 deadline
Teams that reach the FA Cup semis will blank in GW34. At the moment it is difficult to predict the exact blanks as we are only in the 4th round of the FA Cup. But before the GW30 deadline, we should know the exact list of teams blanking in GW34. For that matter before the GW28 deadline(when we have the FA Cup QF draw), we can almost predict the results and also the potential blanks in GW34.
FA Cup Round | Schedule based on FPL Calendar |
4th Round | Between GW24-GW25 |
5th Round | Between GW27-GW28 |
Quarter Finals | Between GW29-GW30 |
Semi-Finals | Clashes with GW34 |
If there are more Premier League Teams playing against each other in the upcoming rounds and eventually getting knocked out, more teams will be confirmed to have a fixture in GW34.
FA Cup 4th Round Draw:
- Manchester United vs Leicester City
- Leeds United vs Millwall
- Brighton vs Chelsea
- Preston North End vs Wycombe Wanderers
- Exeter City vs Nottingham Forest
- Coventry City vs Ipswich Town
- Blackburn Rovers vs Wolves
- Wigan vs Fulham
- Birmingham City vs Newcastle United
- Plymouth Argyle vs Liverpool
- Everton vs Bournemouth
- Aston Villa vs Tottenham
- Southampton vs Burnley
- Leyton Orient vs Manchester City
- Doncaster Rovers vs Crystal Palace
- Stoke City vs Cardiff City
GW34 Fixtures:
For example, if Brighton lose to Chelsea in FA Cup Round 4, Brighton vs West Ham will be a confirmed fixture in GW34 as West Ham are already knocked out of the FA Cup. Likewise, we will have more confirmation as and when more rounds of the FA Cup happen and more Premier League clubs play each other.
Projected/Predicted Teams to Blank in GW34:
- Aston Villa
- Bournemouth
- Chelsea
- Everton
- Liverpool
- Manchester City
- Manchester United
- Tottenham
This is just a prediction right now and it could easily change based on the FA cup draw and results in the upcoming rounds.
FPL GW36 Double Gameweek:
When will know the exact Doubles for GW36?
Anytime between GW30 to GW34. Likely to be announced before the GW34 deadline.
Teams that blank in GW34 are likely to double in GW36. For Example, If both Liverpool and Spurs do not reach the FA Cup semis, They are unlikely to double in GW36.
Anywhere between 4-8 teams are likely to Double in GW36. Note that the below table is just a Prediction/Projection based on the assumption of some of the Cup results that 6 teams will double in GW36.
Projected Doubles for GW36:
Aston Villa | Vs BOU(A), MCI(A) |
Chelsea | Vs NEW(A), EVE(H) |
Everton | Vs FUL(A), CHE(A) |
Liverpool | Vs ARS(H), TOT(H) |
Manchester City | Vs SOU(A), AVL(H) |
Tottenham | Vs CRY(H), LIV(A) |
At this moment, we don’t know which will be a bigger Double Gameweek- DGW33 or GW36. In both these DGWs, Anywhere between 4-8 Teams are likely to double. It could be 6 teams doubling in both GW33 and GW36. It could be 4 Teams Doubling in GW33, 8 Teams doubling in GW36, or the other way around too.
FPL Chip Strategy – When to use your FPL Chips?
Wildcard
GW25 Wildcard:
By GW25, we will know the exact blanks for GW29 and the potential Doubles in GW33- You can pick a team that covers the GW29 blank. But this strategy would leave you short later on with DGW33, BGW34, and DGW36 and everything needs to be covered with a Free hit which is difficult. So it is not advisable to Wildcard in GW25.
GW30/GW31 Wildcard:
At this moment, this looks to be the most ideal window to Wildcard mainly because:
- Before the GW30 deadline, FA Cup Quarter Finals would have concluded and the draw for FA Cup Semis would have been made. So we will know the full and exact picture of Teams Blanking in GW34 and Teams Doubling in GW33 and GW36.
- This will help you navigate DGW33 with a possible bench boost(15 Double Gameweek players) as we are likely to know the GW33 Doubles before the GW30 deadline.
- Allows the flexibility to plan to plan either Free Hit in GW29 or GW34 based on team structure.
Wildcard 35:
Wildcarding in GW35 helps you to plan and use the Bench Boost in GW36 with 15 Double Gameweek players. This can be a good strategy if GW36 becomes a bigger Double Gameweek than GW33. If 8 teams double in GW36 and only 4 Teams double in GW33, this strategy comes into play.
Pros of GW35 Wildcard:
- You can bring in players from teams who have everything to play for – Teams involved in the title race, European places, and Relegation fight. Can avoid “Beach Team players”- Who have nothing to play for in the final 4 GWs.
- You can bring in Differential players with high upside like Haaland, and Foden who are likely to be less owned and have the potential to go big if City have something to play for.
Manchester City Fixtures from GW35-GW38:
- GW35- Wolves(H)
- GW36- Southampton(A), Aston Villa(H)* [Projected Likely Double]
- GW37- Bournemouth(H)
- GW38- Fulham(A)
Cons of GW35 Wildcard:
- The Wildcarded team is available only for 3 weeks thereby not maximizing one of the most powerful chips in the game.
- If you are planning to Wildcard in GW35 and Bench Boost in GW36 it locks you out of using Assistant Manager chip in anywhere between GW34-GW38.
Bench Boost
GW33 Bench Boost:
4-8 Teams are likely to double. If there are 8 Teams doubling in GW33, this makes it a great window to Bench Boost. This looks to be a slightly better window at the moment with Teams like Newcastle, and Palace projected to Double. These teams have great budget options available which makes a good chance to get 15 DGW players.
GW36 Bench Boost:
4-8 Teams are likely to Double. This becomes a good strategy if 6-8 Teams double in GW36. At this moment we don’t know which amongst DGW33/DGW36 will be the bigger DGW. If Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Villa double in GW36 (Based on FA Cup results)as projected above, it is definitely an option to consider.
However, Bench Boost in GW36 locks you out of using the Assistant Manager chip anywhere between GW34-GW36 or GW36-GW38.
Single Gameweek Bench Boost:
If your team structure allows you to Bench Boost in a Single Gameweek, it is definitely not a bad option to bench boost in a single gameweek this season with 15 good players. Once you are done with the chip, you can focus on 12-13 players and not worry about the bench at all. Triple Captain and Assistant Manager chips can be used in the remaining two Double Gameweeks.
Free Hit
We are not likely to use Free Hit in a Double Gameweek this season mainly because there are only 3 Double Gameweeks for this season- GW24/GW25(Liverpool and Everton Double), GW33, and GW36. The Triple Captain, Bench Boost, and Assistant Manager chips will be used for the 3 Double Gameweeks. So it will be a direct face-off between GW29 Free Hit vs GW34 Free Hit.
GW29 Free Hit:
Teams that reach the Carabao Cup final will blank in GW29. The scenarios for the blank are as it stands.
- If NEW & TOT reach the finals– Newcastle, Palace, Tottenham & Fulham will blank in GW29
- If NEW & LIV reach the finals– Newcastle, Palace, Liverpool & Villa will blank in GW29
- If ARS and TOT reach the finals– Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham & Fulham will blank in GW29
- If ARS and LIV reach the finals– Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool & Villa will blank in GW29
Pros of GW29 Free Hit:
- If Newcastle reach the Carabao Cup final(Currently leading 2-0 vs Arsenal in 1st leg), then Crystal Palace and Newcastle both will surely blank in GW29. It is to be noted that both Palace and Newcastle have good fixtures on either side of the GW29 blank as seen below. Many teams have 5-6 players from these 2 teams- Isak, Gordon, Murphy, Hall, Munoz, Sarr, Eze, Mateta, etc. You can hold these players for the good fixtures on either side of the blank and potentially hold them till their likely GW33 double.
- Bring in Foden, Haaland for only one week, and Captain Haaland in GW29. There are good chances that 2 out of Isak, Palmer, and Salah likely to blank in GW29. You might need points to chase the upside and also need a captaincy option. You can have the City assets for only a week and then move back to your original teams that will have Salah, Isak, etc.
Cons of GW29 Free Hit:
We will know the GW29 blanks before the GW25 deadline. So we can use up free transfers from GW25-GW29 and the ones rolled up before that to set up for the GW29 blank with a decent team. You can use the Free Hit in a potentially bigger blank gameweek- GW34.
GW34 Free Hit:
- From the above fixtures, if any one of the team reach the FA Cup Semis, that fixture is a blank in GW34. If there are 4 Premier League teams in the FA Cup Semifinals, there are very high chances that there are 8 teams blanking in GW34 and only 12 teams playing.
- In that case, it is a bigger blank than GW29 and Free Hit might be useful in GW34. There are also chances that teams like Aston Villa and Liverpool double in both GW33 and GW36, Blank in GW34. So in that case you should not waste transfers removing those players. FH34 will be the savior.
- It is slightly difficult to prepare for GW34 blank with Free Transfers as you would need Free Transfers to set up for the GW33 and GW36 Doubles/Bench Boost. Alternatively, a GW30/GW31 Wildcard coupled with GW34 Free Hit can work out well to navigate this.
Triple Captain
Gameweek | Player & Opposition | Notes |
GW24 | Salah vs Bournemouth(A), Everton(A) | Confirmed DGW |
GW33 | Salah vs Leicester(A),Villa(A) or Salah vs Leicester(A), Spurs(H) | Not confirmed, Based on Predictions and Projections. LEI(A) and AVL(A) looks more likely right now. This should happen only if Liverpool reach the Carabao Cup finals. |
GW33 | Haaland/Foden vs Everton(A), Villa(H) | Projected Double, but less likely to happen. |
GW33 | Palmer vs Fulham(A), Arsenal(A) | Projected double, but less likely to happen. Chances increase only when Arsenal reach Carabao Cup finals(Currently losing 2-0 to Newcastle) |
GW33 | Isak vs Villa(A), Palace(H) | Less likely to happen. Can happen only if Arsenal reach the Carabao cup final(Currently trailing 2-0 in first leg). |
GW33 | Arsenal player vs Ipswich(A), Chelsea(H) | Less likely to happen. Can happen only if Arsenal reach the Carabao Cup final(Currently trailing 2-0 in the first leg). |
GW33 | Arsenal player vs Ipswich(A), Palace(H) | Projected double based on the assumption that United/Bournemouth reach the FA Cup semis. Can move to GW36 as well which would mean WHU(H), BOU(A) |
GW33 | Bruno Fernandes vs Wolves(A), Bournemouth(A) | Projected double based on the assumption that United/Bournemouth reach the FA Cup semis. Can move to GW36 as well which would mean WHU(H), BOU(A) |
GW36 | Salah vs Arsenal(H), Spurs(H) | Projected DGW for Liverpool assuming either of Liverpool/Spurs reach FA Cup semis |
GW36 | Haaland/Foden vs Southampton(A), Villa(H) | Projected Double, City needs to get FA Cup Semis |
GW36 | Palmer vs Newcastle(A), Everton(H) | Projected double, Based on the assumption Chelsea reach the FA Cup semis |
GW36 | Isak vs Chelsea(H), Ipswich(H) | Projected double but less likely to happen. |
Assistant Manager
The Assistant Manager is the new chip that is introduced by FPL this season. It allows you to pick a manager in your team(Prices in the range of 0.5-1.5). You get points based on the results of the teams during that 3-gameweek period. There are points for a win, a draw, goals scored, and a clean sheet. There are also Table Bonus points which allows you to get bonus points if you pick a manager up against a team that is placed 5 places or above in the table. Everything you need to know about the Assistant Manager Chip with the Rules, Scoring, and FAQs is covered in detail in the below blog.
Note: It is difficult to predict when to use the Assistant Manager right now as the Premier League table keeps fluctuating based on results every week. We have listed the best possible windows and the options as well.
Tip: We think that Assistant Manager is one of the most powerful chips in the game right now and it will be a good idea to use Free Transfers within the 3 Gameweek period to get the perfect pick for that Gameweek.
Best Windows to play Assistant Manager Chip:
GW24-GW26
- GW24: Arne Slot vs BOU(A), EVE(A)
- GW25: Silva vs NFO(H) to chase for Table bonus
- GW26: Vitor Pereira vs BOU(A) or Glasner vs FUL(A) to chase for Table bonus
This is one of the approaches where caution is mixed with aggression. Slot is the safer option used in the DGW and then use the remaining Gameweeks to attack for “Table Bonus” points. Using it in GW24-GW26 helps you get done with the chip and pick up close to 25-30 points minimum. You can use Triple Captain/Bench Boost for the remaining two DGWs and need not worry about the 0.5-1.5 million budget to be saved.
David Moyes is also an option to consider in GW24 for the DGW24 vs Leicester(H), and Liverpool(H) if you are chasing points and Everton pick-up form. But right now, it doesn’t look like a good option.
GW31-GW33
- GW31: Emery vs NFO(H)/Potter vs BOU(H) – Both potential Table Bonus
- GW32: Maresca vs IPS(H)/ Emery for SOU(A)- Playing it Safe
- GW33: Glasner vs BOU(H), NEW(A)* – Projected Double and Table Bonus Option in both the games or Amorin vs WOL(H), BOU(A)*- Projected Double and maybe Table Bonus vs Bournemouth
If you don’t want to waste many transfers, Ange in GW31-GW32 vs SOU(H), WOL(A) looks to be a good option before jumping to a manager with a Double Gameweek.
Eddie Howe is also an option to consider for this period with good fixtures- LEI(A), MUN(H) in GW31, GW32 and the potential Double in GW33 vs AVL(A), CRY(H).
GW35-GW37
- GW35: Pep vs WOL(H)
- GW36: Pep vs SOU(A), AVL(H)*
- GW37: Pep vs Bournemouth(H)
This is a good option if Manchester City are in the title race around that period or even in Top 4 race and knocked out of other cup competitions. However if you are chasing points in your mini-leagues and targeting table bonus, you can go for Moyes in GW36 with a Projected Double vs Fulham and Chelsea. If Everton are fighting relegation and Chelsea, Fulham have nothing to play for this could be a punt to consider.
GW36-GW38
- GW36- Pep vs SOU(A), AVL(H)*
- GW37- Amorin vs CHE(A) or Potter vs NFO(A)
- GW38- Amorin vs AVL(H) or a Team who are fighting to save relegation on the final day vs a Team who don’t have anything to play for like Wolves vs BRE(H) or Ipswich vs WHU(H).
We think that GW36-GW38 could be a great window to use the Assistant Manager chip because towards the end of the season there will be teams who have everything to play for- Title Race, European places, Relegation Battle. At the same time, there will be teams who have nothing to play for. Teams in 16th, 17th, 18th playing against teams 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th(Beach teams) could work in favour of Table Bonus Points.
2024/25 FPL Chip Strategy
FPL Chip Strategy 1:
Wildcard | GW30/GW31 |
Bench Boost | GW33 |
Free Hit | GW34 |
Triple Captain | GW24- Salah |
Assistant Manager | GW36- GW38 |
This is one of our favourite Chip Strategies to consider right now. This could be really handy if GW34 Blank due to FA Cup semis is a big blank Gameweek with 8 Teams blanking including Teams like Liverpool, Villa, Chelsea, Man City, Man United, Spurs. You will be left with very few options and it would be difficult to navigate without Free Hit.
Wildcarding in GW30/GW31 will set you up for the GW33 Bench Boost(15 Double Gameweek players) and GW36 Double Gameweek as well. The idea will be to Target Teams that Double in both GW33 and GW36 on Wildcard. In this strategy- For the GW29 blank, you will need to plan with Free Transfers from GW25 to cover for the GW29 Blank Gameweek.
FPL Chip Strategy 2:
Wildcard | GW35 |
Bench Boost | GW36 |
Free Hit | GW29 |
Triple Captain | GW24 |
Assistant Manager | GW31-GW33 or GW32-GW34 |
This strategy will work well if GW34 is a small Blank Gameweek(Only 4 Teams blanking due to upsets in FA Cup). If Newcastle and Liverpool reach the Carabao cup finals– Newcastle, Palace, Liverpool and Villa are likely to blank in GW29. In that case if you are loaded up on Triple Liverpool, Triple Newcastle, Rogers and a couple of Palace assets- This strategy should work out as most of these teams double in GW33 as well.
GW34 should be navigated with Free Transfers and you can even dead-end as there is Wildcard to get the players you want. Wildcard is kept as late as GW35 to target a late flourish with the help of a GW36 Bench boost.
FPL Chip Strategy 3:
Wildcard | GW30/GW31 |
Bench Boost | GW33 |
Free Hit | GW29/GW34 |
Triple Captain | GW36 |
Assistant Manager | GW24- GW26 |
This is one of the Chip Strategy that keeps your options open in terms of Free Hit- GW29/GW34. Using the Assistant Manager early helps you to keep both the Wildcard, Bench Boost and Free Hit options open based on which is the Bigger Double/Blank Gameweek.
GW36 Triple Captain can be a great upside chasing strategy as most managers would have already used it by then.
FPL Chip Strategy 4:
Wildcard | GW30/GW31 |
Bench Boost | GW33 |
Free Hit | GW29 |
Triple Captain | Already used/GW24 |
Assistant Manager | GW36- GW38 |
In this season, you can roll Free Transfers after a Wildcard and Free Hit and this is a good strategy if you have 4-5 saved transfers around GW28. GW29 is navigated with a Free Hit and GW30 should should help you set up for GW33 bench boost. The saved transfers should come in handy for the GW34 Blank Gameweek.
FPL Chip Strategy 5:
Wildcard | GW30/GW31 |
Bench Boost | GW33 |
Free Hit | GW34 |
Triple Captain | GW24 |
Assistant Manager | GW36- GW38 |
This is same as the above strategy but Free Hit is used in GW34 instead of GW29. You can also swap Bench Boost and Asssistant Manager here if you are a fan of not using Bench Boost immediately after the Wildcard and saving it for the Biggest DGW of the season.
Conclusion:
There is no right or wrong strategy in FPL. It is totally Team Dependent. We have come up with these Strategies and information so that it will be helpful in coming up with your own strategy based on your team. More strategies are likely to emerge based on the information we receive about the Upcoming Double and Blank Gameweeks. We will keep updating the article, so don’t forget to Bookmark/Save it.
