World Cup Fantasy Matchday 4 (RO16) Top Picks
Netherlands vs USA
Memphis Depay, $8.5 million
Depay has played only 147 minutes of football in this World Cup due to his fitness issues. He made his first start in Matchday 3 after two substitute appearances. He is clearly the best player in the Netherlands team and should start the knockout games. Depay had 18 goal contributions(12 goals, 6 assists) from 10 games during the World Cup Qualifying.
Despite his reduced minutes, Depay has the most goal attempts(6), most shots inside the box(4) for Netherlands in this World Cup. He is a great Differential option owned by just 5.1% of managers.
Cody Gakpo, $7.0 million
Gakpo is having the best time of his career with 3 goals from 3 games leading the race for Golden Boot. At just 7.0 million he should be one of the Top picks ahead of Matchday 4. Gakpo has created the most chances(5) for Netherlands in this World Cup. He also takes almost all the corners for Netherlands, having taken 11/13 corners for the Dutch so far.
Daley Blind, $5.5 million
Blind is the most attacking defender from Netherlands even more than his wing-back compatriot Dumfries as suggested by these below numbers.
Blind vs Dumfries- Attack stats comparison
- Shots inside the box- 3 vs 0
- Penalty Area Touches- 5 vs 8
- Chances created- 1 vs 0
- Crosses- 5(2) vs 5(0)
- Successful passes in the final third- 52 vs 30
- Touches in the final third- 81 vs 75
Christian Pulisic, $8 million
Pulisic is the only stand-out option Fantasy option from the USA. He has the most shots(6), most chances created(5), and most penalty box touches(19) for USA in this World Cup. He literally takes all set pieces for USA having taken all the 14 corners USA got so far when he was in the pitch.
Robinson(4.0) is a good budget option even though the chances of a clean sheet look really slim. He has been defensively solid and has also taken up good attacking positions. In fact, his 76 touches in the final third is the second-highest for USA only behind Pulisic.

England vs Senegal
Luke Shaw, $5.0 million
England are defensively one of the most solid sides this tournament and are expected to keep a clean sheet vs Senegal. Shaw is nailed to start at LB and will also be on some corners. Shaw also has a great attacking threat and a liking for big games- In his last 7 matches for England in major competitions(Euros and World Cup), Shaw has 4 assists and 1 goal.
Shaw is also slightly more attacking compared to Trippier in this world cup. Shaw has 68 final third touches and 42 final third passes whereas Trippier has 51 final third touches and 31 final third passes. Shaw also has 4 pen box touches whereas Tripper has only one pen box touch in the group stages.
Attacking options
Only Kane looks to be the nailed start in the front 3. Kane has become more of a creator having registered 3 assists. However, he has only 4 shots on goals and 5 penalty box touches which aren’t great compared to other England attackers who have played considerably lesser minutes.
Saka, Rashford, and Foden are all good options if they are confirmed to start. Stay tuned for any team leaks/updates.

Argentina vs Australia
Argentina have conceded 0 big chances from 3 games and have 2 clean sheets.
Australia despite qualifying have conceded the most big chances(8), and most shots inside the box(39) in this World Cup so far. More importantly, they are also top for chances conceded from the center(14).
Lionel Messi, $10.5M
Messi was brilliant against Mexico even though he missed a penalty and did not get a goal or assist. So far in this Worldcup, he has the most shots on target(8) amongst all forwards and second most for all key attacking metrics with only Mbappe being above him. He’s up against Australia and could be in for a big haul considering the fact that Australia concedes a lot of chances centrally which is where Messi operates.
Julian Alvarez, $6.5 Million
Alvarez could be a great differential, he started against Poland ahead of Lautaro Martinez and scored a goal, which could mean he potentially keeps his place. He also has better attacking numbers compared to Lautaro Martinez.
Julian Alvarez vs Lautaro Martinez
- Penalty box touches: 11 vs 5
- Goal attempts: 7 vs 4
- Big chances: 2 vs 1
- shots on target: 4 vs 0
- Shots inside the box: 7 vs 4
- Goals: 1 vs 0
- Minutes played: 153 vs 169
Argentina Defenders
Only Otamendi($5.0 million) has played all three games for Argentina with the rest of the defence constantly rotated which is a shame considering they are a strong defence having not conceded a big chance in 3 games.
You could either get Otamendi and change based on the lineup if needed or safely go for Emiliano Martínez in goal who costs $5.5 million.

France vs Poland
Mbappe, $11.5 million
Mbappe is literally the Haaland in World Cup Fantasy- A must-own pick. He has 3 goals from 3 games(2 starts) in this World Cup and would be eying to get the Golden Boot. He literally leads all the underlying numbers by a huge margin- Top for Big Chances(6), Shots(16), Shots inside the box(12), and Penalty box touches(35).
Theo Hernandez, $5.0 million
T. Hernandez tops the list for most chances created among defenders(9) which is also the joint second overall only behind Greizmann who has created 10 chances. This includes creating 2 big chances which is also the highest among defenders.
Wojciech Szczęsny, $5.5 million
Szczęsny has been having a remarkable world cup so far with 2 penalty saves and 2 clean sheets in 3 games. In total, he has made 18 saves and registered 22 points the second highest amongst all players. Although he’s upgainst the France attack he could offer save points and who knows could save another penalty too!
Robert Lewandoski, $10 million
Lewandoski scored his first world cup in matchday 2 against Saudi Arabia and if you have the budget then a punt on the experienced striker who costs 10 million isn’t really bad. He has 14 penalty box touches, 6 goal attempts, and 2 big chances so far in the group stages, not bad numbers.

Japan vs Croatia
Japan defeated both Spain and Germany to reach the round of 16 of the 2022 world cup and will now play Croatia. Japan were clinical in the group stages scoring four goals from three big chances. Overall they created only four big chances.
Asano was the standout pick from the Japanese attack registering 9 penalty box touches, and 8 goal attempts in just 123 minutes. There is also heavy rotation in the Japan attack which makes it tough to predict who’ll start reducing their Fantasy appeal.
Croatia too scored 4 goals in the group stages but overall had 7 big chances in three games with Perisic, Kramaric and Sosa all proving to be good fantasy options during the group stages.
Ivan Perisic $7.5 Million
Perisic has registered the most penalty box touches and has five attempts on goal. He has also created 4 chances and one big chance which has resulted in 2 assists for Perisic. At 7.5 Million he’s a great safe pick to consider.
Andrej Kramaric, $6m
Kramaric is another good option to consider from the Croatia attack. He has scored 2/4 goals for Croatia in the group stages and is only 6 million which makes him a great enabler. Kramaric also has had three big chances out of the total seven big chances Croatia have had in the three games which shows he’ll be getting quality goal-scoring chances.
Borna Sosa, $3.5M
A starting defender from a good defence at 3.5 million who is also an attacking threat is too good to ignore. Croatia have kept two clean sheets in three games and are pretty solid at the back. Sosa could be a defensive enabler going into the knockout stages of the tournament.

Spain vs Morocco
Spain started off brilliantly with a win again Costa Rica in the first game but then drew against Germany and lost against Japan in the group stages. The knockouts are a different ball game and Spain do have some great talent who are also good fantasy options.
Spain overall had 8 big chances which was the 3rd highest amongst all teams, defensively they conceded only 3 big chances as well which shows their defensive strength.
Dani Olmo, $8m
Olmo is one of the best midfield options in World cup fantasy, he has had 18 penalty box touches, 10 goal attempts, 3 big chances, and five chances created. At 8 million only he’s a great mid-priced midfielder to consider.
Jordi Alba, $6m
Alba is one of the key players for Spain and he was rested for the final game against Japan and should go straight back into the team to face Morroco. He’s had decent attacking threat, assisting three goals which is the highest amongst defenders. Overall he has created four chances, and one big chance. He’s also second for touches in the final 3rd amongst defenders registering 83 final 3rd touches. He’s also registered the most passes(65) amongst defenders in the final third.
Morata $8m is also having a great world cup scoring three goals for Spain and has registered 6 chances on goal, 2 big chances, and 10 penalty box touches which aren’t bad.
Morocco topped a group also consisting of Croatia and Belgium with Hakimi, and Ziyech being the star picks.
Hakimi, $5 Million
Hakimi costs only 5 Million and offers good attacking potential. He registered a wonderful assist against Canada and had the joint most touches(5) in the penalty box amongst all Morocco players. Morocco also have conceded only four big chances, one goal, and kept 2 clean sheets in the tournament so far. Hakimi at 5 million offers good value.
Hakim Ziyech, $7 Million
Ziyech returned both in matchday 2 and matchday 3 with an assist and goal respectively. He’s increasingly dangerous for the atlas lions with every passing game and costs only 7 million.
Ziyech has created four chances, had six attempts on goal both the highest amongst all Morocco players making him a viable option to consider.
Bounou($4.5 Million) and Aguerd($4 Million) are cheaper alternatives from the Morocco defence to consider

Brazil vs South Korea
South Korea pulled off a stunning victory over Portugal and qualified for the knock out stages of the World cup. Korea overall scored 4 goals in 3 games and had 6 big chances, they also registered 42 goal attempts which is the 5th best amongst all teams in the group stages which isn’t bad.
Cho Gue Sung scored 2 out of the 4 goals and is the pick of the Korean attackers registering 9 goal attempts, 8 shots in the box and 2 big chances.
Son has been more of a creator and has created 6 chances including one big chance so far in the group stages. He also assisted the winner against Portugal which sent Korea to the round of 16.
Brazil are going to be tough opponents for South Korea which reduces their fantasy appeal for matchday 4 but a punt on Son($8.5M) or Cho Gue Sung($5M) isn’t too bad.
Brazil are safely into the round of 16 although they didn’t score a lot of goals. The lack of goals is mainly attributed to rotation and Neymar missing 2/3 games.
They should however be in full strength in the knockout stages of the tournament which begins with a fixture against South Korea.
Richarlison, $7.5M
Richarlison scored 2 goals in the opening game for Brazil against Serbia including a stunning bicycle goal. He was completely rested in the game against Cameroon and should be back all guns blazing against South Korea. So far in just 150 minutes of action, he has registered 5 attempts on goal, seven penalty box touches, one big chance, and 2 goals. At 7.5 Million only playing for one of the tournament favorites, he’s an essential to consider.
Neymar if he’s fit and ready to start is another no-brainer option to consider. Watch out for team news to see if he’s ready to start vs South Korea.
Brazil Defence/Alex Sandro($5 Million)
Brazil conceded only one goal in the group stages, that too in added time against Cameroon. Brazil also have conceded only two big chances(4th best) in three games which shows how solid they are defensively. Alex Sandro who missed the final group stage game due to an injury problem is an excellent option to consider at only 5 million. He has fitness issues so watch out for news, currently he’s already out training so there are good chances he starts, if he’s out Telles($4.5 Million) is an alternative to consider. Marquinhos($5.5 Miilion) is a safer option too!
Portugal vs Switzerland
Switzerland sent a talented Serbia side parking home and will now face Portugal in the round of 16.
Embolo, $6.5M
Embolo has been the key for Switzerland’s attack recording the most penalty box touches(10) amongst all Swiss players including a whopping 4 big chances, only Mbappe has more big chances(6) in the World cup so far. At 6.5 Million he’s a great bargain.
Bruno Fernandes($9.5 million) has been one of the star performers for Portugal. He has scored 2 goals and assisted 2 more in just two games. He’ll be key for Portugal against Switzerland and offers both goal-scoring and assist potential making him a great option for world cup fantasy matchday 4.
Ronaldo tops the penalty box touches for Portugal and has had 4 big chances(Joint 2nd highest amongst all players). He’s also on penalties, Ronaldo has had a quiet group stage but he’s the man for the big occasion and could be amongst the goals. Quite expensive at 10 Million but a decent differential to consider if you fancy him scoring!
