FPL GW4 Free Hit Guide – Tips, Players to Target and Best Drafts

Liverpool playing Burnley, Palace playing Sunderland, Forest playing Arsenal and a couple of injuries make GW4 a decent Gameweek for playing the first free hit chip. FPL GW4 Free Hit Guide

FPL GW4 Fixtures

Players to Target in GW4 Free Hit:

• Goal Keepers: Raya, Leno, Allisson
• Defenders: Gabriel, Timber, Van Dijk, Senesi, Munoz, Lacroix, Richards, Andersen, Porro, Cucurella
• Midfielders: Salah, Gakpo, Semenyo, Kudus, Barnes, Estevao(if Palmer is out), Grealish, Dewsbury Hall, King(Enabler)
• Forwards: Gyokeres, Evanilson, Mateta, Pedro, Ekitike, Haaland

Pros of GW4 Free Hit:

• Saka and Sarr are injured and ruled out. Gordon is suspended. Palmer, Larsen, Cunha, Frimpong are all doubts for GW4 as it stands. If you have many players from the above list, Free Hitting in GW4 can come in handy.
• If you are on Nottingham Forest Triple up, GW4 Free Hit can be really helpful. Forest have the tough fixture in GW4 vs Arsenal(A) followed by easier games against Burnley(A) and Sunderland(H).

• If you have invested in Watkins and Rogers at the start of the season and are confused on what to GW4 Free hit could be helpful. Villa have been poor so far but have good fixtures coming up. You could avoid them in GW4 vs EVE(A) and then have them back for SUN(A), FUL(H) and BUR(H) hoping that they come back to form with the good fixtures.

• Go for the Liverpool Triple up vs Burnley(A)- Salah, Van Dijk, Gakpo/Ekitike. If you have only Salah as the Liverpool asset in your main team, Free Hit can come in handy.

Cons of GW4 Free Hit:

• Still early in the season, Can he helpful little later in the season if there are more injuries to your team.
• If you don’t have Haaland in your team, Free Hit can be handy in GW6 with Manchester City up against Burnley(H). You can get him for that fixture.
• There are chances that Palace, Leeds(Palace GW17 opponent) and 2 more teams could blank in GW17. This could happen if Palace beat Millwall (H) in EFL Cup Round 3 and then win their R4 Carabao Cup fixture as well. This is due to Palace involvement in UEFA Conference league that their GW17 fixture could be postponed if they win Round 3 and Round 4 of Conference league. So Free Hit might be useful in GW17.

Other windows to Play Free Hit:

• GW6- Target Haaland vs Burnley(H) and also completely avoid Newcastle and Arsenal as they play each other.
• GW11- Liverpool and Man City play each other. You could avoid them completely.
• GW13- Completely avoid Chelsea and Arsenal as they play each other. You could triple up on Man City vs Leeds and Bournemouth vs Sunderland. Brentford vs Burnley is another fixture to target. Liverpool also have a good game vs West Ham. The main con is that GW13 is also a good Wildcard week as there are fixture swings for many teams.
• GW17- Palace, Leeds and two more teams could blank.
• GW19- The final chance to use your first Free Hit. City are up against Sunderland and Liverpool are up against Leeds.

FPL GW4 Free Hit Drafts

FPL GW4 Free Hit Draft 1

• Formation: 4-3-3
• Substitutes: Dubravka, Dewsbury Hall, King, Rodon
• This draft also has money left in the bank, so you could upgrade Dewsbury Hall if needed(to a 7.0-8.0 Midfielder) and start them ahead of Lacroix.

Goal Keeper:

• Raya takes the gloves in this team. Arsenal are always one of the Best Defenses in the league as seen again this season with 2 clean sheets from 3 games. The only goal they conceded was against Liverpool which was courtesy of a stunning free kick from Szoboszlai.
• Forest too were not good in GW3 as they failed to score vs West Ham in the 0-3 defeat.
• Dubravka is mentioned as the second keeper in the draft who is just a bench fodder in Free Hit. You could also have Leno just for safety as there is enough money in the bank.

Defenders:

• Munoz, Lacroix are up against Sunderland(H) in a defensive double from Palace.

• All the Palace Defenders have been in good form and have been racking up the points in the first 3 Gameweeks. Munoz is the most attacking of these Defenders as suggested by his xGI of 8.6 last season which is the 2nd highest among Defenders. Munoz has an xG of 5.1 which was the Highest among Defenders last year. Munoz is one of the few Defenders in the game who has Attack threat, DEFCON potential and also Clean Sheets. He has returned in all the 3 games so far with an Assist, 2 Clean sheets and hitting the DEFCON threshold once.

• Lacroix also carries good attack set piece threat and is also good for DEFCON with his CBIT scores reading 16, 12, 9 from 3 games so far.

• Andersen is up against Leeds at home and is a solid pick on Free Hit considering his DEFCON potential. He has 29 Defensive Contributions from 3 games almost averaging the 10 DEFCON threshold that is required to get you an additional 2 points.
• Van Dijk is a no-brainer on the GW4 Free Hit with the Burnley(A) fixture. Nailed for 90 minutes, Good threat on set pieces, DEFCON potential, High Clean Sheet chances. He ticks all the boxes that is needed for a Defender.

Midfielders:

• Salah is the easiest choice you could make in Midfield and should also take the Captaincy arm-band vs Burnley(A). Even though his direct goal-threat has reduced this season in a slightly different role from previous season, No doubting the Egyptian. He could have a bad game and still easily get a return. Salah has a goal, assist from the first 2 Gameweeks before blanking vs Arsenal. Truth to be told, Liverpool’s fixtures were difficult as they played Bournemouth(H), Newcastle(A) and Arsenal(H) in the first 3 GWs. He could be well due a big haul in the easier fixture in GW4.

• Semenyo has been on fire this season with 2 Goals, 1 Assists from 3 games so far. His underlying numbers and shot volume is also excellent and he ranks Top among Midfielders for most of the numbers.

Semenyo Stats this season(Rank among Midfielders):

• Shots- 10 (1st)
• Shots on Target- 4 (Joint 2nd)
• Shots inside the box- 9 (1st)
• Big Chances- 5 (1st)
• xG- 1.88 (2nd)
• xGI- 2.0 (Joint 4th)
• Goal Involvements- 3 (2nd)
• FPL Points- 23 (2nd)

• Kudus rounds up the midfield with a fixture against his former team West Ham. Kudus has got 2 assists in the first game and has looked good. The signing of Xavi Simmons and Kolo Muani should further bloster Spurs attack and will be good for Kudus as well.
• Dewsbury Hall and King are the first substitutes in this GW4 Free Hit Draft. Dewsbury Hall has started and played 90 minutes in all 3 games so far and is also on some set pieces. Dewsbury Hall got a goal, assist and 12 point haul in GW3 vs Wolves. With Everton’s attack looking really good, Dewsbury Hall is more than capable to do the job as first sub.
• King has started the last 3 games and is the perfect 4.5 million enabler to fill in as second sub. He was also unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after his goal was ruled out vs Chelsea in GW3.

Forwards:

• Joao Pedro is the fist name among Forwards as he is in excellent form and also plays as the striker now with Delap injured. Pedro has 2 goals, 2 assists from the last 2 games and is a no-brainer with the game vs Brentford(A).
• Ekitike is up against newly promoted Burnley side and he has 2 goals, 1 assist from the first 3 games. Burnley have conceded 6 goals from the first 3 games. Even with the signing of Isak, our prediction is that he won’t be in the starting line up right away and will be only be making a sub appearance to start with.
• Mateta rounds up the team with the fixture vs Sunderland at home. Mateta is also now on penalties with Eze leaving to Arsenal.

FPL GW4 Free Hit Draft 2- Haaland Draft

• Formation: 4-3-3
• Substitutes: Dubravka, King, Rodon, Reinildo
• This draft has Dewsbury Hall in the starting line up. If you are short of funds and don’t have good team value you can downgrade Raya to Leno or Van Dijk to Timber if needed.

The main difference in this Draft is that Haaland is accommodated in it by getting few Budget picks like Richards(over Munoz and Lacroix) and starting Dewsbury Hall. Gakpo also makes the cut for the third Liverpool spot over Ekitike with 1 Goal, 2 assists from the first 3 games.

Haaland has been in excellent form with 3 goals from 3 games fetching 24 points in the process. It could have been easily more than that as suggested by his underlying numbers.

🔹Shots inside the box- 13 vs 4
🔹Big Chances- 6 vs 0
🔹xGI- 4.2 vs 0.7
🔹FPL Points- 24 vs 16

Perhaps this could be the game Haaland converts his chances and goes big.
