Tick tock, tick tock… the deadline is now just a week away! So, how’s your latest draft looking? Still holding onto that shiny 3-5-2 you swore was the one two days ago? Or did Rodgers’ injury throw a spanner in your midfield? Maybe Ndiaye’s sudden Italy move blew up your perfect £5.0m enabler plan? The FPL gods are testing us already—and we haven’t even kicked off yet.
We’ve already looked at the plug wires (budget mids) and the turbochargers (mid-priced gems) that keep your FPL racing car running smooth. Now it’s time for the big engines—the Premium midfielders (£8.5m and above). These are your high-performance machines, built to dominate the track and leave rivals in the dust.
They don’t come cheap, but when they’re firing, they’re worth every penny. Let’s take a look at the elite options who could power your team to FPL glory.

Top Premium FPL Midfielders to consider for 2025/26 FPL Season:
Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) – MID, Liverpool – 58.6% TSB

📌24/25 vs IPS (A), 14 pts, 1G+1A
📌23/24 vs CHE (A), 5 pts, 1A
📌22/23 vs FUL (A), 12 pts, 1G+1A
📌21/22 vs NOR (A), 17 pts, 1G+2A
📌20/21 vs LEE (H), 20 pts, 3G
📌19/20 vs NOR (H), 12 pts, 1G+1A
📌18/19 vs WHU (H), 8 pts, 1G
📌17/18 vs WAT (A), 10 pts, 1G+1A
- Mo Salah has not failed to deliver in Gameweek 1 for eight consecutive seasons.
- Salah’s GW1 opponents Bournemouth have lost almost their entire backline this window:
- Kerkez – sold to Liverpool for £40M
- Huijsen – sold to Real Madrid for £50M
- Zabarnyi – sold to PSG for £58M
- Kepa – returned to parent club Chelsea and then left for Arsenal for £5M.
Salah surpassed the 200-point mark for the eighth consecutive season, scoring the highest ever FPL points tally in the process.
Season | Pts |
2024/25 | 344 |
2023/24 | 211 |
2022/23 | 239 |
2021/22 | 265 |
2020/21 | 231 |
2019/20 | 233 |
2018/19 | 259 |
2017/18 | 303 |
Hence, Salah should be considered not just as a player in your squad, but also a captaincy candidate for GW1… and even possibly a Triple Captain candidate… and dare I say, even a permanent captaincy candidate.

Cole Palmer (£10.5m) – MID, Chelsea – 54.5% TSB

By his own lofty standards, last season was relatively quiet for Cole Palmer — and yet he still racked up 214 FPL points with 25 attacking returns. His two goals and an assist in the Club World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament (Golden Ball), served as a timely reminder to FPL managers that even with a hefty price tag, he’s more than capable of delivering.
Chelsea’s opening run of fixtures is outstanding, and Palmer is comfortably the most nailed-on attacker in their lineup. Add penalty duties to that, and he’s not just a safe pick — he’s a potential early-season points machine. In fact, he could even be a strong captaincy option in Gameweeks 2 and 3, when Salah faces tricky fixtures against Newcastle and Arsenal.

Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) – MID, Arsenal – 15.4% TSB

Last season, Arsenal’s key playmaker saw his campaign curtailed by injuries but still managed to average 5.1 FPL points per game with an impressive expected goal involvement (xGI) of 0.88 per 90 minutes. In their final pre-season outing, Saka contributed both a goal and an assist against Athletic Bilbao, hinting at his readiness for the new term.
Arsenal finally have a proper number 9 in Gyökeres, which significantly boosts Saka’s potential for assists. With defenders focused on Gyökeres, more space should open up on the right flank, giving Saka increased opportunities for cut-backs and low crosses. On the downside, penalty duties might shift — Arteta has suggested Gyökeres could take over spot-kicks, given Saka’s history of generosity from the penalty spot.
With Arsenal facing a challenging start to the season, it might be wise to hold off on investing in Saka immediately. That said, for those willing to take a gamble, he could be an appealing captaincy pick for Gameweek 2, when Arsenal host Leeds United.
Saka vs Palmer- FPL Predicted Points(First 4 GWs):

Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) – MID, Man Utd – 15.1% TSB

It’s easy to forget that Bruno Fernandes once racked up a staggering 244 FPL points in a single season. While he hasn’t quite matched those heights since, he’s still been a dependable 150+ point scorer every year.
Much like Eberechi Eze, Bruno’s had a strong pre-season — most recently grabbing a goal and an assist against Everton.
Against Fiorentina, his performance wasn’t spectacular, yet in FPL terms it would have been worth 9 points:
- 12 recoveries: 2 pts
- Appearance: 2 pts
- Assist: 3 pts
- Bonus: likely 2 pts
His Gameweek 1 opponents, Arsenal, have looked rusty in pre-season, conceding three against Villarreal. He also scored against them in March in the league. Even in a below-par campaign last year, Bruno finished as the 5th highest-scoring midfielder — and under the new rules, he would have ended on 192 points.
After Arsenal, United face Fulham — a side they beat twice in the league last season. Bruno also scored against them in the FA Cup in March. Then comes a plum home fixture against Burnley, where he’s a genuine captaincy contender.
In short, Bruno is very much worth considering — if not locking in.

Florian Wirtz (£8.5m) – MID, Liverpool – 32.4% TSB

Florian Wirtz is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting FPL options for the new season, backed by impressive attacking stats from his time in Germany. In the 2024–25 Bundesliga campaign, he scored 10 goals and registered 12 assists across 31 appearances. His expected goals (xG) of 9.4 and expected assists (xA) of 7.0 underline his consistent involvement in key attacking moments.
Wirtz’s creativity is reflected in his 148 shot-creating actions and 26 goal-creating actions, along with strong dribbling and progressive carries, making him a dynamic midfielder primed to deliver points. Arne Slot favors attacking football and that should provide even more chances for him to shine in the Premier League.
He has already delivered in preseason with ⚽ 1 goal and 🅰️🅰️ 2 assists, making him an even more enticing option at £8.5m for FPL managers looking for a high-upside midfielder. Cheeky managers can look at the double up with Salah – might be a tasty option.

Omar Marmoush (£8.5m) – MID, Man City – 13.4% TSB

Omar Marmoush had an impressive 2024/25 season across two leagues, scoring a combined 28 goals and providing 17 assists — averaging a goal contribution every 83.8 minutes. Despite leaving Bundesliga mid-season, he earned a spot in the Bundesliga Team of the Season and continued his form at Manchester City, even netting the Premier League Goal of the Season.
His stats for 2024/25 speak volumes:
⚽ 7 goals and 🅰️1 assist in just 16 Premier League appearances
🎯 An outstanding 7.08 non-penalty expected goals (npxG), placing him in the 99th percentile among strikers
💎 A strong 0.53 goals per 90 minutes
📈 Averaging 0.53 goal contributions per 90
Now reclassified as a midfielder in FPL, Marmoush benefits from additional points for goals and clean sheets — a definite plus for his scoring potential.
That said, his impact at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup was limited, with no goals or assists, and his preseason form hasn’t been particularly convincing either. Given this, it’s wise to adopt a wait-and-watch approach before committing to the Egyptian forward-turned-midfielder.
