The 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League season brings renewed focus on goalkeepers, especially after recent tweaks to the Bonus Points System (BPS). Under the updated rules, goalkeepers now earn 2 BPS for any save, with an additional 1 BPS for a save made from inside the box, significantly boosting the appeal of high-volume shot stoppers. This rewards keepers like Flekken (104 saves in the box), Sels (92), and Leno (83), who thrived in these scenarios last season.
Clean sheets also saw a rebound – with 178 clean sheets across the league in 2024/25, up from 157 in 2023/24, though still short of the 207 in 2022/23. While goalkeepers typically score within a narrow range, the top 7 keepers were separated by just 38 points – the devil lies in the details. For instance, Pickford scored 158 points while Onana, despite a tough season for United, managed 120, barely a point per game less. With such tight margins, price points and fixtures become even more crucial in determining the best picks. Let’s break down the goalkeeper pool across price brackets.

5.5M FPL Goalkeepers – Premium Picks with Proven Output

Jordan Pickford:

Last season’s top-scoring goalkeeper, Pickford not only outscored all other GKs but also outperformed every defender in total points. A consistent bonus magnet due to his shot-stopping ability (and now helped by the new BPS system), he is a tempting pick again this year. He had 15 bonus points last season – highest across all GKs. Everton open the season with 2.7 expected clean sheets (xCS) in the first 10 Gameweeks, and they’ll be moving to a new stadium — a potential psychological boost. Under David Moyes, the Toffees closed last season well with 4 wins, 2 draws, and 3 clean sheets in the final 8.
One caveat: Pickford picked up the most yellow cards of any goalkeeper last season.

David Raya

Tied for the Golden Glove with 13 clean sheets, Raya finished third among goalkeepers in FPL points. At 5.5M, he offers a budget-friendly route into Arsenal’s defence, especially with Gabriel and Saliba both priced at 6.0M. While Kepa lurks as backup, Raya is expected to retain the No.1 spot. That said, Arsenal’s opening fixtures are tricky — they face MUN, LIV, MCI, and NEW in the first 7 Gameweeks.

Alisson Becker

Another 5.5M option, Alisson presents a solid pathway into Liverpool’s defence, especially with VVD priced at 6M. While not as bonus-friendly as others due to Liverpool’s high line and possession style, he remains a reliable pick.
Ederson
Ederson rounds up the 5.5m goal keepers. However, he is not a very attractive pick given City’s strong defenders. Ederson had the lowest SOTA and saves among the premium keepers last season. He is also competing with Trafford (5m) this season for a spot in the starting XI.

5.0M FPL Goalkeepers – The Value Sweet Spot

Matz Sels
The second-highest scoring goalkeeper last season, Sels delivered 13 clean sheets and 119 saves, with an impressive 74% save rate. At 5.0M, he’s priced 0.5M below the top-tier keepers while offering very similar upside. Forest retained their defensive core and could improve further this season. Also worth noting: Forest and Bournemouth rotate well for the first 8 GWs, which could be ideal for those looking to play fixtures.

Dean Henderson

With 11 clean sheets and over 100 saves, Henderson quietly finished 4th among goalkeepers last season. He played a pivotal role in Palace’s FA Cup win, which has earned them a spot in Europe this season. While this could stretch their squad thin, Henderson remains a reliable pick assuming Marc Guehi stays. If Guehi leaves, their defensive stability might take a hit.
Robert Sánchez

Fifth in the GK points chart last season, Sánchez had a standout performance at the Club World Cup, where he kept a clean sheet against PSG and was named Goalkeeper of the tournament. Chelsea’s early fixtures are promising – only one top-half opponent in the first five. Also none of the Chelsea defenders offers great CBIT value, making Sánchez a viable pick in the Chelsea defense.
Sanchez also rotates well with Petrovic:
- GW1 CRY (H)
- GW2 WOL (H)
- GW3 FUL (H)
- GW4 BHA (H)
- GW5 MUN (A)
- GW6 BHA (H)
- GW7 FUL (H)
- GW8 CRY (A)
- GW9 SUN (H)
- GW10 TOT (A)
- GW11 WOL (H)
- GW12 BUR (A)
8 Home fixtures. Brighton the only top half side.

James Trafford
At 5.0M, Trafford is an intriguing pick if he becomes Man City’s No.1, following Ederson’s injury-hit season. Coming off a Championship campaign where Burnley conceded just 16 goals in 46 matches, Trafford could be a set-and-forget option if he starts. Given the uncertainty of Pep Roulette with City defenders, having a nailed keeper could be gold.
🧤 4.5M FPL Goalkeepers – Budget Enablers with Potential

Đorđe Petrović

Bournemouth’s £25m signing is expected to start, having featured in pre-season friendlies against Everton and Manchester United. He impressed at Strasbourg with 10 clean sheets and could benefit from Bournemouth’s 3 xCS in first 10 fixtures. A rotation with Kelleher or even Sanchez (as mentioned earlier) could be an effective strategy.
Lucas Perri
Likely to start ahead of Darlow and Meslier, Perri enters the season as the first-choice keeper for a side with mid-table defensive potential. While not explosive, he offers safe minutes at a reasonable price. Do note he hasn’t featured in pre season yet and has been carrying a small injury, no doubts that he’s the new number one but there is a chance he might not start in GW1.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Kelleher is currently the most-owned goalkeeper at 32%, thanks to his expected role at Brentford following Flekken’s move to Leverkusen. However, Brentford’s fixtures are poor — just 2.3 xCS in the first 10 — and the club is undergoing structural change with Thomas Frank leaving for Spurs. While Brentford have historically adapted well, Frank was a constant, and his absence could impact defensive output. Nonetheless, Kelleher rotates well with Petrović, especially over the first 8–10 Gameweeks.

Note: Kelleher was left out for the pre-season friendly vs Borussia Monchengladbach(On august 8th) as a “precautionary” after sustaining a knock in the build-up. He’ll be monitored in the upcoming days. Watchout for the latest updates.
José Sá
Despite rumours of a possible departure, Sá is worth monitoring. Wolves showed improved defensive form late last season under their new manager, going 6W 1D 3L with 3 clean sheets in their final 10. They also face all three promoted sides between GW5–GW9, making Sá a great short-term play.
4.0M FPL Goalkeepers – Pure Bench Fillers (or Hidden Gems?)

There are 39 goalkeepers priced at 4.0M, but very few offer a real chance of minutes. That said, two names could emerge:
Martin Dubravka

Burnley have signed Dubravka from Newcastle which means we are very very likely to get a starting 4.0 million Goalkeeper. Burnley also play Sunderland at home in GW2 which means GW2 Bench Boost is a good option to consider. Do note there is no confirmation yet that he’ll be the first-choice keeper, so it’s one to watch. Current Keeper Weiss(4.5) saved a penalty in the pre-season game vs Lazio, Dubravka wasn’t part of the squad.
Others to have an eye on:
- Antonin Kinsky: Kinsky could suit Thomas Frank’s shot-stopping-focused philosophy better than Vicario. If he breaks into the first team, he could become FPL gold.
- Karl Darlow: Expected to play backup to Perri, but if that situation changes, he may be a short-term enabler.

Conclusion: Navigating the Keeper Conundrum
This season, goalkeepers offer a wide range of viable options across every price point. The updated BPS rules favour high-volume shot-stoppers, and with clean sheets on the rise again, the decision-making isn’t as straightforward as “spend the least.” While Pickford, Sels, and Sánchez provide strong value based on last season’s performances, promising rotations among 4.5M combos like Petrović–Kelleher could unlock points and funds elsewhere.
Ultimately, given the tight points distribution among top GKs, pairing smart price point decisions with favorable fixture rotations could be the key to getting ahead early in the season.
To conclude top picks for each price point are:
- £5.5 Million- Pickford
- £5.0 Million- Sanchez
- £4.5 Million- Petrovic
- £4.0 Million- Dubravka
