Welcome to the FPL Gameweek 34 Captain Picks & Metrics blog. A blank gameweek for four teams means the captaincy pool is smaller this wee. The popular captaincy options this week include Salah, Isak, Barnes, Murphy and Cunha. Let’s see who tops the captaincy metrics!

Isak tops the captaincy poll this week with 35% of the votes ahead of facing Ipswich at home. Cunha is 2nd ahead of Salah with the former getting 23% of the votes and will be playing the already relegated Foxes at home, the later has got 21% of the votes and will be playing against Spurs at home. The top five in the captaincy poll is completed is by Isak’s team mates Murphy and Barnes.

The Egyptian king tops the table with an xG of 3.79 in the last six games, including 9 big chances, which is the highest amongst the five players. He’s also created 17 chances for his teammates, close to three chances every game.

Harvey Barnes is 2nd in the table with an xG of 3.14 in the last six games and is 2nd for big chances(4). He’s also had 18 shots inside the box in the last six games, highest amongst the five players.

Cunha is 3rd with an xG of 2.54, 11 goal attempts in the box, 10 chances created, and 3 big chances in the last six games.

Newcastle star Isak is only fourth with an xG of 2.44 and has had seven big chances and 14 goal attempts in the box over he last six games.

Jacob Murphy is last with an xG of 1.77 over the last six games, he’s also created 9 chances for his team mates during the period.

Liverpool take the first spot with an xG of 13.14 in the last six games and have had 88 shots inside the box and 26 big chances during the period.

Newcastle are second with 10.65 xG over the last six games, they have also had 59 goal attempts in the box and 22 big chances.

Wolves are last for xG amongst the five teams, registering 7.66 xG in the six games. They have also had a decent 41 shots inside the box and 12 big chances.

We will use DraftHound’s odds for a Team scoring at least one goal in the Gameweek and the Odds of Scoring more than 2.0 goals in the Gameweek as a whole.

Newcastle are first with a 92% odds of at least 1 goal and 58% odds of scoring 2+ goals in FPL GW34 vs Ipswich(H)

Liverpool are 2nd with a 90% odds of scoring at least one goal and 58% odds of scoring odds of scoring 2+ goals in FPL GW34 vs Spurs(H).

Wolves are last with 83% odds of scoring at least one goal and 33% odds of scoring 2+ goals, which are pretty strong odds as they prepare to face relegated Leicester City at home.

In the fourth phase of the article, I used the Anytime Returns and Projected Points tools available at Fantasy Football Hub. With the help of the Anytime Returns Tool, I have derived the Safety Rank, which helps in determining the Safest Captaincy Option of the week, while I have used the Projected Points Tool to determine the Explosion Rank, which helps in determining the Most Explosive Option of the week. 

Salah is first for projections this week with 71% anytime returns & a 8.1 points projection in FPL BGW34.

Isak is second this week with 71% anytime returns & a 7.1 points projection in FPL BGW34. Salah and Isak have the same return odds but Isak’s xMins is slightly lower than that of Salah reducing his predicted points.

Cunha, meanwhile, is 3rd and has a 57% anytime returns & a 6.3 points projection in GW34 against Leicester City at home.

Barnes is 4th with 55% anytime returns and a points prediction of 5.6. Murphy is last with a 50% anytime returns and a points prediction of 4.8.

In the Fifth and Final Phase of the article, I have aggregated the Ranks derived above to pull out the Cumulative Rank Factor (CRF). According to our captaincy metrics, the candidate with the lowest cumulative rank factor is the ideal captaincy option. 

Salah tops the FPL Gameweek 34 captaincy metrics this week with a CRF of 7. Isak and Barnes are joint 2nd with a CRF of 9, Murphy is 4th with a CRF of 13 and Cunha is last with a CRF of 16.
