Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW30:

Pros of GW30 Wildcard:

  • You can attack Triple Palace- Mateta, Eze, Sarr, Munoz, Henderson(3 among them) for the Southampton fixture and Double/Triple City- Marmoush, Gvardiol, Haaland(if fit) to attack the Leicester City fixture in GW30. Newcastle and Palace Double in GW32 as well. Palace, City, Villa and Arsenal are likely to Double in GW33. If you don’t have many assets from these teams you can Wildcard in GW30 and load up on them heavily.
  • If you bought Haaland in GW28/GW29- You can transfer him out, spread out the funds and use the Wildcard to get DGW players to target DGW33.
  • If you still have Free Hit chip left, WC30/31 with Bench Boost GW33 and Free Hit GW34 is a solid Chip Strategy. FH34 will help you navigate the Blank Gameweek 34.

Haaland Injury update:

Haaland was injured in the FA Cup win over Bournemouth and was substituted. He is ruled out for GW30 and is likely to be back only close to end of the season based on the statement below.

Manchester City Statement on Haaland Injury:

Manchester City FC can confirm that Erling Haaland has suffered an injury to his left ankle. The Norwegian striker sustained the injury during Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final victory away at AFC Bournemouth. Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury. Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

Cons of GW30 Wildcard:

  • No confirmed news or announcements about the GW33 Doubles yet.
  • Less Clarity on Saka’s minutes(due to return from injury).
  • GW31 might be a better Wildcard window with more clarity on the above situations.

GW30 vs GW31 Wildcard:

Pros of GW30 Wildcard over GW31 WildcardPros of GW31 Wildcard over GW30 Wildcard
Target the Palace(vs SOU) and Manchester City(vs LEI) assets for GW30 fixtures. You are anyway likely to get City and Palace assets for the Doubles in GW32 and GW33. So this enables you to get a week early to attack the easier fixture. We may get more “Confirmed” news and announcement about the Double Gameweek 33 before the GW31 deadline which will help in planning.
Can help you fix your team immediately if your team is filled with injury concerns like Haaland, Wood, TAA, etc. More clarity about the Saka injury situation.

As mentioned above, there are advantages of going either ways- GW30/GW31 Wildcard. It totally depends on your team composition and risk you are willing to take.

FPL GW30 Wildcard Drafts

All the Drafts/Team Screenshots are from FPL Team. Do check out their website for Planning the Upcoming Double and Blank Gameweeks.

We have not included Haaland in both the Drafts due to the injury concern.

FPL GW30 Wildcard Draft 1:

(Plan to Bench Boost in GW33)

  • 6 Double Gameweek players for GW32– Mateta, Sarr/Eze, Munoz, Isak, Murphy, Burn
  • Kluivert is a doubt for the Ispwich game. So we have removed him from this draft(He was there earlier).
  • Triple Palace vs SOU and Double City vs LEI in GW30. Palace are the one team likely to DOUBLE in both GW32 and GW33.

The form of Palace assets are also great.

  • Mateta(£7.5m): 8 goals & an assist in the last 8 games
  • Munoz(£5.1m): Goal, 3 assists, 5 clean sheets in the last 8 games, 0 blanks
  • Sarr(£5.6m): 3 goals in the last two games, 3.87 xGI
  • Eze(£6.7m): Goal & assist in the FA Cup QFs vs Fulham
  • Tripe Newcastle of Isak, Murphy and Burn– Newcastle have a confirmed home Double GW32 vs MUN(H), CRY(H). They also have the tempting LEI(A) fixture in GW31 which makes them a great option on Wildcard.
  • City Double up of Marmoush and Gvardiol with the potential DGW33(vs EVE, AVL) in mind. Marmoush should lead the line as Haaland is ruled out. Up against a Leicester side who have lost 13 of their last 14 games and conceded plenty of goals, the in-form Marmoush should fancy his chances. Gvardiol is one of the most nailed and most attacking City Defender, so he does not require much justification.
  • Double Arsenal Defense of Raya and Gabriel– Arsenal have the conceded the 2nd least xGC, Least Big Chances and Least Goals in the league this season. So a Double up on the league’s best defense with a likely DGW33(vs IPS, BOU) is an excellent option. Triple Arsenal Defense is also not a bad shout and can be a great differential.
  • Saka vs Foden is a 50-50 call you want to take based on Saka’s fitness and minutes prediction. Foden is also a good alternative as Haaland’s injury pushes Marmoush’s minutes which in turn improves Foden’s minutes behind the striker. If you are going for Foden over Saka, you can triple up on Arsenal defense as well.
  • Back-up keeper of Areola to target the SOU(H) in GW33 Bench boost. He is also really cheap at just £4.2m and West Ham defense have really improved since Potter took over.

Projection and Plan for GW33 Bench Boost:

  • GW33 Bench Boost with 12 DGW players+ Salah(vs LEI), Areola(vs SOU) and Isak(vs AVL).
  • Planned Transfers made in GW33(2 Free Transfers used from GW31-GW33):
    • Burn OUT, Khusanov/City DEF IN
    • Murphy OUT, Asensio/Rashford IN
  • Using just 2 free transfers over this period(GW31-GW33) helps you to save Free Transfers for the upcoming Double and Blank Gameweeks- BGW34, DGW36, BGW37.
  • There might be second thoughts with Double City DEF considering their form this season but there are good chances that City Double in GW36(vs SOU, BOU) as well if they reach the FA Cup final. So it might not be a bad idea at all. If Foden/KDB are getting good minutes and have form by then, you can even get them in over Saka.

FPL GW30 Wildcard Draft 2

(Plan to Bench Boost in GW33)

  • 6 Double Gameweek players for GW32– Mateta, Sarr, Eze, Isak, Murphy, Burn. This Draft is affordable only if your team value is good.
  • In this Draft we have gone with a Triple Arsenal Defense over Saka. The reason being that Arsenal might not risk playing Saka as he is just back from injury and it will result in reduced minutes across DGW33. Arsenal are likely to get the second spot(difficult to challenge for title and also difficult to go out of Top 4) in Premier league. So they might focus on UCL games(High chance to Rest Saka in PL) and the DGW33 games right after the Real Madrid game also doesn’t help things.
  • Triple Palace Attack- Eze, Sarr, Mateta in this Draft for Munoz as the DGW32 and DGW33 are good for attackers over Defenders.
  • There is Palmer in this draft who is a good pick for many reasons:
    • Jackson, Madueke back should improve Chelsea attack as a whole and Palmer’s form too.
    • Easier route(funds wise) to Saka/Haaland in DGW33 as we will have more information about their fitness.
    • Good fixtures in GW30-GW32 for Palmer and Chelsea. You can hold till GW32 for the Ipswich game and then move out for DGW assets like Saka/Haaland if needed.
Chelsea fixtures from GW30-GW32
  • You can also pick Foden/Saka over Palmer in this draft(instead of going Palmer and then moving to them in GW33) with the latest injury update that Haaland will not be back anytime soon. Haaland’s injury not only improves Marmoush’s minutes but also improves Foden’s minutes and involvement.

Projection and Plan for GW33 Bench Boost:

  • GW33 Bench Boost with 12 DGW players and Salah.
  • Planned Transfers made in GW33(3 Transfers saved till GW33):
    • Ruben Dias IN, Burn OUT
    • Rogers IN, Palmer OUT
    • Asension IN, Murphy OUT
  • Palmer to Saka/Foden directly is also an option to consider.

FPL GW30 Wildcard Draft 3

  • Draft with Triple Palace+ Triple City+ Triple NEW+ Salah+Saka+ Foden
  • You can afford this draft only if your team value is really high.
  • GW33 Bench Boost plan would be to get in Watkins+ Rogers/Asensio/Rashford for Isak+Murphy to get the maximum of 12 DGW players.
