FPL GW25 Tips & Preview- Dilemmas Answered

FPL GW25 Assistant Manager Transfer Strategy

FPL GW25 Assistant Manager Transfer Strategy

If you have your assistant manager chip active currently, this section is helping you decide what to do with your assistant manager chip in DGW25.

As a reminder, your assistant manager can be transferred and these transfers come out of your free transfer pool as an outfield player would. You will need the available funds if the new manager is more expensive as well as staying within the 3 assets per club restriction.

If you have 2 or less Liverpool assets and can afford Arne Slot, I would transfer to Arne Slot. Their double gameweek features two fixtures where they are easily favourites and many goals are on the cards. Wolves are out of form so the clean sheet bonus will also come into play for the additional 2 manager points.

If you have 3 Liverpool outfield assets and have Moyes currently as your assistant manager, I would transfer Moyes to Emery. It is definitely not worth transferring out any Liverpool outfield assets for Slot as this is a waste of a transfer which is valuable in this period of the season. The asset you are transferring out will also have a high ceiling and therefore there is no logical reason to make this move.

Aston Villa face Ipswich at Home followed by Liverpool at Home. Ipswich at Home is a fixture where Aston Villa have a 70%+ probability of victory and they are undefeated in their last 11 home fixtures in the premier league. Multiple goals are scored more often than not and there have been two clean sheets so far for Villa at home.

The Liverpool fixture is an opportunity for table bonus and a good opportunity as Villa’s home form could prove the difference in achieving a result against Liverpool.

Best Liverpool Assets for FPL GW25

Best Liverpool Assets for FPL GW25

I am of the opinion that Salah, TAA & Gakpo remain the ideal triple-up for your Gameweek 25 lineup.

Alisson & Konate rely on clean sheets for the majority of their points output. Wolves at Home is a solid defensive fixture but Aston Villa Away is definitely not. This is followed by Manchester City & Newcastle fixtures which are also unlikely to see clean sheets. For this reason, the only defensive asset I would currently consider is Trent Alexander-Arnold due to his attacking output.

Virgil Van Dijk’s underlying attacking data has dropped off a bit this season. If you were selecting a defender, you may as well choose Konate instead of Van Dijk as his underlying attacking data is similar to the Dutchman’s.

Luis Diaz will continue to see rotation during this period as Darwin and Diogo Jota will get minutes across the congested schedule. Cody Gakpo will also see rotation but his form from the left wing will see him score more starts and also return a greater amount of points due to his direct and strong attacking style.

Alexander-Arnold is back in full training and potentially available for the coming Everton game. Therefore we can extrapolate that he should be fully fit for the next gameweek.

Best Gameweek To Use Free Hit

Best Gameweek To Use Free Hit Chip

The Free Hit chip is one of the most important in the game and should be the key to any strategy you plan to use from now until the end of the season.

Commonly used in Double Gameweeks or Blank Gameweeks, the free hit chip allows you to plan perfectly for the remainder of the season.

Blank gameweek 29 will see Aston Villa, Liverpool, and likely Crystal Palace and Newcastle not have a fixture. These teams have quite good fixtures before and after Gameweek 29 and the majority are likely to have a double gameweek in Gameweek 33. These are high-performing teams that you would prefer not to transfer out their assets over the coming month just for one missed gameweek.

By increasing the number of players you have in these teams, you will get the benefit of their good fixture run while they’re in form, followed by a double gameweek in Gameweek 33. In the meantime, you will want to save some transfers to then use for Blank Gameweek 34 to field a lineup. You can then Wildcard in Gameweek 35 and Bench Boost in gameweek 36 with a fully fit 15-man squad.

Each team is different and your current lineup will influence your strategy. Free Hitting could be a feasible option in Blank Gameweek 29, Double Gameweek 33, Blank Gameweek 34, or Double Gameweek 36 based on your available chips and risk tolerance.

I will touch on alternative strategies in the coming weeks.

Gameweek 25 Key Fixture Analysis

Aston Villa v Liverpool. This fixture was touched on in previous sections but it is a key fixture for many decisions this week. Whether you’re deciding on your assistant manager transfer, outfield player transfer or potentially the use of the triple captain chip, this fixture will affect many key assets.

Liverpool enter the fixture as favourites but with only approximately a 55% chance of winning. Aston Villa have only been defeated by Arsenal at home this season and have scored multiple goals in 7 of their 11 fixtures.

Their underlying defensive data has also been very solid at home, conceding less than 1 expected goal in 8 of the 11 matches. Expect a great showing from both sides and a real test for Liverpool.

Liverpool v Wolves. Wolves have won only 2 of their 12 away fixtures in the league this season and an away trip to Anfield is unlikely to see their fortunes change. Liverpool will enter the match with a 75%+ probability of winning

Although their victory was a good one against Aston Villa last gameweek, Wolves conceded 10 goals in 4 fixtures before that and their underlying data shows that they were poor in these fixtures.

Liverpool are a great chance for a scoreline such as 3-0 where they exploit the defensive frailties of Wolves’s lineup. Wolves will need to be clinical on the counter if they are to wipe Liverpool’s clean sheet and get a result from the game.
