FPL GW21 Wildcard Guide

Upcoming Double Gameweeks and Blank Gameweeks:

We do have only one Wildcard till the end of the season and it is important to understand the upcoming Potential Double and Blank Gameweeks till the end of the season.

Teams that are likely to have a double in the upcoming weeks:

  • Manchester City
  • Brentford
  • Liverpool
  • Bournemouth
  • Luton Town

Double Gameweek 25 and Blank Gameweek 26 Scenarios:

Credits to @MikkelTokvam(Do follow) for the double/blank gameweek projections

If there is a projection above 1 for that team in a particular gameweek then there is a chance of a double gameweek for that team(The higher the projection more chances of a double). Likewise, if the projection is less than 1 then there is a chance of a blank gameweek for that team(The lower the projection more chances of a blank).

  • There are good chances that Manchester City and Brentford are likely to Double in GW25(The postponed game due to Club World Cup).
  • Liverpool could double in GW25 if they beat Fulham & reach the Carabao Cup Final + One of Liverpool/Luton reach the FA Cup 5th round
    • Liverpool will face Norwich/Bristol Rovers in FA Cup R4
    • Carabao Cup Semis, FA Cup 4th Round fixture + 5th round draw will all be completed before GW22 deadline.
  • Liverpool will blank in GW26 if they potentially double in GW25

FPL Blank Gameweek 26:

  • Games with a threat of a blank are: Liverpool v Luton, Man Utd v Fulham, Chelsea v Spurs
  • Gameweek 26 fixtures will definitely become a blank if (Liverpool/Fulham/Chelsea) reaches the EFL Cup Final and if one of the clubs from the three above-mentioned fixtures reaches the FA Cup 5th Round, which is in the midweek after the EFL Cup Final.
  • Note: The midweek after GW26 is the FA Cup 5th round. If the midweek is free(Both teams are out of the FA Cup) then the game could move to the midweek and remain in the same gameweek(FPL GW26).
  • Potentially four teams could blank based on Carabao Cup semis & FA Cup results.
  • BGW29: If a team reaches the FA Cup QFs then their GW29 fixture will be a blank. There are five blank fixtures(10 teams) projected to blank

As you could see there are plenty of blanks coming up which will create doubles in GW34/GW37. The 2nd wildcard can be used to target those doubles. GW30/31 could be a good period for Wildcard, you could remove players who are blanking in GW29 and then get them back to target the doubles.

Players to Target on FPL GW21 Wildcard:

  • Goalkeepers: Neto, Raya, Ederson, Flekken
    Enabler: Turner
  • Defenders: Estupinan, Porro, Saliba/Gabriel, Konsa, Walker, Doughty, Burn, Dawson/Kilman, Colwill
Enablers: Bell, Van Hecke, Taylor, Branthwaite, Gusto
  • Midfielders: Saka, Odegaard, Gross, Jota, Richarlison, Foden, Bailey, Palmer, Neto, Douglas Luiz
    Enablers: Garnacho, Elanga, Sarabia
  • Forwards: Solanke, Alvarez, Watkins, Pedro, Darwin, Haaland*
    Enablers: Wood, Adebayo

FPL GW21 Wildcard Drafts

FPL GW21 Wildcard Draft 1

FPL GW21 Wildcard Draft 1
  • 11.2 million in the bank to get back Haaland/Salah/Son/KDB/TAA based on injury news and players coming back from International Duty. We should have more info by GW22 deadline and can get these players one after the other based on those updates. Solanke to Haaland should be one of the planned moves for GW22.
  • You can have one among TAA/Salah/Haaland on your bench if you have too much value tied with any of these players and build the squad around them so that you can save a transfer later.

  • Ederson is a costly GK option and has been a troll but with City almost getting their full squad back and with the possibility of DGW25 for City, this could work out well. Neto is the other keeper who also has a DGW pending. The plan would be move to away from Ederson in GW27 after the double in GW25 to a bench fodder. Neto has great fixtures from GW27 along with a potential DGW.
  • The squad has a Brighton Triple up of Gross, Estupinan and Van Hecke for the amazing fixture run!
  • Estupinan and Pascal Gross are value for money options even in the longer run. Van Hecke slots in as the 5th Defender(Bench option)
  • Doughty has 5 assists and 1 goal this season and is ranked 3rd for Chances created among Defenders only behind TAA and Trippier. He also has a Double Gameweek soon and is discussed in detail in our Differentials article.
  • Dawson/Kilman are also good options as they cover well and have good fixtures for BGW26 and BGW29
  • Porro, Watkins, Gabriel, Saka, Foden, Palmer pick themselves as they are in good form and also have good fixtures
  • Solanke makes the squad as he has can make way for Haaland when he is fit.

FPL GW21 Wildcard Draft 2

FPL GW21 Wildcard Draft 2
  • It’s similar to the previous draft except for the few changes. In this draft you can get Haaland for Solanke this week and bench him this week(Play 3-5-2) so that you can save a transfer in GW22.
  • Pedro comes into this team. He is in form- 4 goals, 1 assist in the last 3 games and is also on penalties.
