Going into the ‘business end’ of the 2022/23 FPL season, there has been many a discussion on the best Arsenal assets to own. With DGW in 23 & 25, it is fair to say that owning 3 x ARS assets is “essential”. In this article, I shall look at 3 treble combinations that FPL managers should consider for DGW23 and beyond. I will also note the positives and negatives for each Trio.

Arsenal FPL Analysis Ahead of FPL Double Gameweek 23
What do we do with Martinelli Ahead of FPL DGW23?
For many FPL managers, owning Martinelli has created an unwanted stress when considering the Brazilians minutes moving forward.
Without completing 90 mins in each of the last three appearances, coupled with the purchase of Trossard, I believe Martinelli will be benched in at least one of the next five matches (3GWs). Therefore, I advocate removing the winger (even for a hit) to get an ARS asset that seems ‘safer’ to start such as Saka or Odegaard.
With BGWs on the horizon, we will need to rely on our squad to cover the blanks, and Martinelli is a selection risk going forward.

1. Saka, Odegaard & Nketiah
I would say this is the most exciting Arsenal trio to own. It is very much an ‘All Out Attack’ strategy and a reliance on ARS to haul offensively. With Saka and Odegaard “nailed”, the curiosity is around Nketiah. The Forward has performed excellently during the absence of Jesus.
With 4 goals in 6 appearances since the restart, Eddie has integrated seamlessly into the side, whilst playing every single minute during that time.
Pros
- “All Out Attack” strategy for the short-term
- Each asset seems set to start and likely finish each game
- Statistics favour attacking returns during DGW23-25
Cons
- Jesus is training and will be a threat to Nketiah’s minutes from DGW25
- ARS defenders have been performing well and are affordable
- Effective Ownership (EO) is high with ARS defenders – missing out could have significant effects on rank
Gabriel Jesus Latest update:
2. Gabriel, Odegaard & Saka
I would call this the more ‘Balanced’ trio. With the potential risks of White starting the coming fixtures, I would select Gabriel as the DEF asset.
With his attacking threat from set-pieces (DEF top scoring defender from last season) and no risk of missing the next matches, Gabriel would be my choice of defender from Arsenal.
Pros
- Balanced and the safest trio in my opinion
- Get defensive points and the added attacking threat of Gabriel
- Trio could be classified as “nailed” in the ARS side
Cons
- Missing out on Triple ARS attack
- Going with one DEF may limit the haul potential with the quick DGWs
3. Odegaard, Nketiah & Gabriel
This is the more ‘Budget’ trio if FPL Managers want to use funds elsewhere.
If you are more inclined to stick with the ‘Threemium’ or go expensive in attack, this trio costs 20.0m (team value dependent).
Going with the budget trio allows a more straightforward spread to transfer in ‘big-hitters’ such as Salah, Kane & Haaland. Whilst being able to purchase Mahrez and keep a strong balance in the squad.
Pros
- Cheap trio that still have haul potential
- Allows significant upgrades in squad
Cons
- Jesus a threat to Nketiah’s minutes by DGW25
- Moving to Saka will present some challenges

Which Arsenal Trio do I prefer?
Despite all of the options being viable for FPL Managers, my selection is based on the matchup of Gabriel vs Nketiah.
Odegaard and Saka are players I would highly advise as not only are their minutes quite assured, but they’re integral to the ARS offensive positions. Adding to that, each asset has been returning consistently since the FPL restart in GW17.
The ‘Gabriel’ draft:
This draft allows going heavy in attack, especially in the Forward positions.
The ‘Nketiah’ draft:
Selecting Nketiah would sacrifice having Kane or Darwin in the side. However, with such savings compared to the aforementioned, FPL Managers can upgrade Mahrez to KDB (for example).
Conclusion
The trio I prefer is Saka, Odegaard & Gabriel. I am keen to have the balance of a DEF asset, combined with ‘safer’ minutes. This is a thought FPL Managers must consider when blanks are imminent and more reliance is put on the squad.
