World Cup Fantasy MD5 Wildcard Drafts
How to use the Wildcard chip in World cup fantasy?
- Once matchday 4 ends and before matchday 5 begins activate your wildcard and set your best team for matchday 5.
- Once matchday 5 begins look for team news and line-ups, actively make transfers between two unlocked players(players who haven’t played yet) based on lineups, and maximize your points for matchday 3. For ex: You have Rashford in your MD5 wildcard and when England playing 11 comes out you see he’s not starting then you can swap him out for another England attacker(Kane) or other players who have not played yet in MD5 and get their points for MD5
- Secondly, once your player has played their status becomes locked. Now you can use the unlimited transfers to bring in players for MD6(Semi-finals). This way you can build your team for MD6 as well using unlimited transfers. For ex: You have Kane for MD5, and once England finishes playing in MD5 his points will be locked in your MD5 team, you can then remove him for another player using the unlimited transfers. The new player will be part of your MD6 team and earn points in M6.
- By following the above steps, you can utilize the wildcard to build a team for MD5 and MD6.
- Remember if you transfer out a player already locked, you’ll still have his points for that matchday and the player you bring in will score you points only on the next matchday.

World Cup Fantasy MD5 Wildcard Draft 1:
MD5 Wildcard Goalkeepers:
Alisson is the first option as goalkeeper in the MD5 wildcard draft. Croatia generally don’t score a lot and there’s high chance of a clean sheet for Brazil as they look to go into the semifinals.
Emi Martinez has conceded only 3 goals and kept 2 clean sheets in the world cup so far. The Argentinian defence has conceded only 1 big chance so far at the world cup, the least amongst all teams.
MD5 Wildcard Defenders:
Defenders are a bit tricky to pick especially at this stage of the tournament when clean sheets are rare. Going by their attacking potential will enable us to get potential attacking returns even if the clean sheet is gone.
Guerreiro at 5 Million is a great option, he was one of the changes for Portugal against Switzerland in their 6-1 victory. He picked up a goal and assist registering an xG of 0.32 against Switzerland. He created two chances and had two attempts on goal including one big chance which resulted in a goal and assist. It’s safe to say he’ll be guaranteed to start after his outstanding performance.
Theo Hernandez, Marquinhos, Shaw, and Blind make up the rest of the defence. Hernandez, Blind, and Shaw all have good choices for attacking returns even if the clean sheet might be not possible.

MD5 Wildcard Midfielders:
Lucas Paqueta was brilliant in the round of 16 game against South Korea showing both goal threat and assist potential. At just 7 million he’s a great option to consider. He created three chances including one big chance plus two shots on goal, two shots on target, one big chance, and one goal vs South Korea.
Bruno Fernandes has two goals and three assists in just three games at the World cup making him an essential to consider for matchday 5.
Saka, Foden, and De Paul make up the rest of the midfield. The English duo of Saka and Foden have been brilliant so far with Saka scoring three goals and Foden bagging three assists and a goal. With a lot of forward options, Kane might be tricky to bring in, especially at his price. Instead, a double on Saka and Foden is an interesting option, especially on a wildcard.
Rodrigo De Paul at 5 million is an enabler who might also return decent points.
MD5 Wildcard Forwards:
Mbappe is one of the first names you should have on your team, he’s clear of any other player in this world cup having scored five goals already in just four games. He’s had 6 big chances, 46 penalty box touches, 21 shots on goal, 16 shots inside the box and 10 shots on target. Messi is the only other player(Seen in the stats below) to somewhat come close to Mbappe’s monster numbers.
Messi, well you don’t need to say more. One of the greatest ever to play football and he’s been in scintillating form for Argentina taking them to the quarterfinals.
Richarlison has been clinical for Brazil and at just 7.5 Million is a bargain option to consider. Brazil have had 15 big chances at the World cup, the second highest amongst all teams and the highest amongst all teams still at the world cup which shows he’ll get quality chances.

World Cup Fantasy MD5 Wildcard Draft 2:
Goncalo Ramos had a stellar game for Portugal scoring a hattrick against Switzerland in the round of 16 as Portugal scored 6 goals. He had 6 attempts on goal, 5 attempts inside the box, 3 big chances, 2 big chances scored, and 3 goals against a Swiss defence who couldn’t keep him quiet. The other option in the above draft is pretty much alternate options that are self-explanatory.
