Leicester City FPL Assets to consider from FPL BGW 30 and Onwards

Leicester City are one of the few teams that have a game in blank gameweek 30 and double in gameweek 33. In this blog @aditya-kumar, will look at a few Leicester City assets you could consider for the upcoming gameweeks.

Before going further, Do vote in this week’s FPL BGW30 allaboutfpl captaincy poll. The same will be available in the captaincy analysis and metrics blog written by@AK_FPL1. Leicester City Assests

Harvey Barnes

We start off with probably the most exciting Leicester City asset. The 6.5 million priced English winger is owned only by 3.3% of fpl players. The reason why he is an exciting option is that he is currently in brilliant form. In his last seven appearances, Barnes has blanked only twice. Since game week 22, he has contributed 4 assists and 1 goal.

In the last six games, he ranks highest in terms of xGi, Penalty area touches and Big Chance involvements for Leicester City. He also had eighteen goal attempts in this same period.

Playing on the left flank against Brentford in gameweek 30, he will be a big threat. The left flank is from where Brentford concede most of their chances and Barnes can be the differential for the upcoming game week and beyond. For me, he is a must-have!

James Maddison

Priced at 6.7 million, James Maddison can be a player worth looking at. He is currently owned by 8.3% and is on free-kicks and corners. The ex-Norwich man has an xGi of 1.3 in the last six games and averages an xGi of 0.3 from set-pieces in the same period of time. He has had 93 touches in the penalty area in this period.

However, if I had to pick one Leicester midfielder, my choice would be Harvey Barnes.

Let’s look at a comparison between the two in the last six games:

Barnes vs Maddison Stats in the last six games

xG: 1.68 vs 0.91

xA: 0.97 vs 0.39

xGi: 2.65 vs 1.30

Touches in the final third: 137 vs 93

Penalty area touches: 33 vs 10

Goal Attempts: 18 vs 12

Goal Attempts in the box: 14 vs 5

Big Chances Created: 2 vs 0

We can clearly see that Barnes is the better option among the two.

Let’s also take a look at their heat maps:

Heatmaps from FFScout

As you can see Barnes features more in the opponent’s half compared to James Maddison. Maddison, on the other, tends to drop back a lot in his own half.

However, with Maddison being on set pieces he could potentially get some points, especially if Jamie Vardy, Jonny Evans and Yannick Vestergaard are playing.

Jamie Vardy

Priced at 10.3 million, Jamie Vardy’s purchase could lead to the selling of other premium assets. Vardy has scored 10 goals in eighteen appearances this season and has only recently come back from injury. He also has two assists.

He also has an xGi involvement of 7.06 in the same period. Vardy is also very clinical, finishing 6 of the 11 big chances he has gotten this season.

However, it is important to note that Vardy has overperformed his xG of 6.19 by a huge amount, hence making him a risky buy. And despite scoring all his goals from inside the box, he has only 80 touches in the box, lesser than Harvey Barnes, who has 101.

For 10.3 million, however, Jamie Vardy is a risky buy and is set to miss out on the blank gameweek due to an injury.

Kasper Schmeichel

If I had to pick one player from the awful Leicester defence, it would be Kasper. He makes a decent number of saves per game and could be a potential bonus point magnet.

Notable shoutouts: Amartey (3.9), Luke Thomas (4.3) and Youri Tielemans (6.4).

These are some players from Leicester City you could potentially target for the upcoming games.
