Leicester vs Arsenal FPL GW10 Review

xGOT | 1.68 | 1.12 |

Next 4 | lee-CHE-WAT-sou | WAT-liv-NEW-mun |
Style of Play | 3-4-1-2 | 4-4-1-1 |
Talking Points | Not sure how LEI didn’t score. Nacho and Maddison hit the woodwork. Vardy with 1 Big Chance. | Saka with 4 chances created + 1 Assist ESR (xG 0.08) and Gabriel (xG: 0.16 from a corner) were the goal scorers. Ramsdale the messiah with 8 saves and a couple of astonishing ones keeping LEI at bay. |
FPL Notes:
This performance will give Arsenal a world of confidence.
The backline looks more settled now which evidently has given the team morale a big boost.
ESR now, 49 pts, is the highest FPL pts provider from Arsenal. Leicester’s defence can’t seem to catch a break this season. 12th best in terms of xGC (13.93) with just 1 clean sheet (vs Wolves, 14th Aug)
Liverpool vs Brighton FPL GW10 Review

Talking Points | Salah & Mane had a disallowed goal eachFirmino missed a BC (xG: 0.37)Disappointing 2nd half showingKeita injured (20’)Defence looked shaky when BHA pressed hard in 2H | Potter rested Maupay and started with Trossard upfrontTrossard, with the highest xG of the game (xG: 0.57), and Mwepu (xG: 0.35) were the goal scorers Lamptey (66’ sub) assisted Trossard for a disallowed goal4th draw in last 5 PL games |
FPL Notes:
A bit of a jolt for Liverpool’s title chances especially when MCI were trounced at the Etihad simultaneously.
1H was vintage Liverpool with fast breaks and were already cruising along. 2H they were found wanting in the mid-field.
Brighton has impressed this season so far and the credit has to go to Potter who started this game upfront with Trossard rather than Maupay.
Man City vs Crystal Palace FPL GW10 Review

Talking Points | Red Card (Laporte) at the stroke of HT; dubious callFoden assist to a Jesus disallowed goal (60’)KDB looked below-par, again! Subbed at 59’ for StonesGrealish the most creative (5) | Gallagher robbed Laporte in City’s half and assisted Zaha for 1st goal (xG: 0.22). Top Finish!Gallagher scored the 2nd (xG: 0.10) with a classic counter-attack; assisted by Olise Gallagher’s 2nd double-digit haul of the season CRY on a 5-game unbeaten run now |
Upset of the week!
Crystal Palace got all the luck in their favour which they were denied of in the last 2 or 3 weeks. Laporte’s red card just before HT was a big bone of contention.
But credit where it’s due. Gallagher was the man of the match for Palace who was instrumental in both the goals. They could go on a good run now looking at their next 4 fixtures.

FPL Notes:
GK Raya’s injury before the weekend has come as a huge blow for Brentford. However, their defence lapses in this game were glaring and the same were not down to the new GK (Fernandez).
The inclusion of Maxwell Cornet this season has provided Burnley with the zing in their attack. The Ivorian now has 4 goals to his name in a mere 277 minutes. Burnley’s next 2 fixtures against NOR and NEW look much yummier than 2 weeks ago.
Newcastle vs Chelsea FPL GW10 Review
Scoreline | 0 | 3 |

FPL Notes:
FPL managers with double CHE defence felt exasperated for the first 64 minutes where NEW held their attacking prowess at bay.
In the next 12 minutes, Reece James’ owners were on cloud ten (if there is anything above cloud 9). 2 jaw-dropping strikes by the RWB ,with a minimal cumulative xG, were magnificent. It opened the game and Chelsea comfortably in the end finished it 3-0.
CHE DEFENDERS’ OWNERSHIP:
- Reece James 9.9%
- Ben Chilwell 17.2%
- Antonio Rudiger 17.6%
Anyone thinking Reece-Ben going forward?
Watford vs Southampton FPL GW10 Review

Next 4 | ars-MUN-lei-CHE | AVL-nor-liv-LEI |
Style of Play | 4-4-2 | 4-4-2 |
Talking Points | Sarr had a chance cleared off the goal line by Walker-Peters Defence still looks shakyAshley Fletcher with the highest xG of 0.331W & 2L under Ranieri now | A. Armstrong could have given Broja run for his money only for him to miss the chances he was presented withPlayed more advanced than Che Adams; had the highest xG of 0.74 with total 6 shots and 2 big chancesProvided an assist to Che who managed to generate a curling shot in the limited space he had (xG: 0.05)Same # of losses as MU & ARS (3) |
FPL Notes:
Home team was disappointing after what was a fantastic away win last week against Everton. Southampton dominated the game in heaps.
Broja (injured) made way for Adam Armstrong who had the best of chances to seal his place in the team but to no avail. Southampton now has 4 clean sheets from 1st 10 games (2H and 2A).
KWP gave a man-of-the-match performance and seems to have cemented his place in spite of Livramento’s rise.
Spurs vs Man United FPL GW10 Review
Scoreline | 0 | 3 |
xG(1H/2H) | 0.88(0.75/0.13) | 1.19(0.40/0.78) |
xGOT | 0 | 2.43 |

Next 4 | eve-LEE-bur-BRE | MCI-wat-che-ARS |
Style of Play | 4-2-3-1 | 3-4-1-2 |
Talking Points | Yet another quiet game for Kane. Looked a bit frustrated Spurs were ordinary & passive. Haphazard pressingSon missed a big chanceRomero had a goal disallowed (offside) | Looked way more hungry than SpursOle played 3 at-the-back with Shaw and AWB (had a good game) bombing forwardsCR7 from a tight angle with a finish for the ages (xG: 0.05). Superb execution!Cavani did most of the running around and was rewarded with a goal (xG: 0.45) with an assist by CR7Varane’s presence does make a diff |
FPL Notes:
Not sure if MU fans should rejoice with this performance or take it with a pinch of salt as Spurs were horrible at times. Things United did display were grit and cohesiveness after the Liverpool mauling at OT last Sunday.
Having said that, not sure if other top teams will provide the space that Spurs did and the mediocrity at times with their attacking play.
Still keen to look at Spurs assets before their fixtures turn in GW 12? Tread with caution.
