The FPL world was dealt a double blow when Antonio was shown a second yellow against the Saints and Calvert-Lewin was not passed fit to start the Burnley game.
As a result, Antonio faces one match ban and will miss Hammer’s home game against Manchester United. As for DCL, here is what Rafa Benitez had to say
He has broken his toe. He was training with problems and playing with pain. He had an injury the other day to his quadriceps and we have to wait two-to-three weeks, maybe more
Its not encouraging to hear this as a DCL owner and its best to move on from him for now. Antonio is still not a big problem as he will back after missing one game (more on that in the upcoming Buy, Hold and Sell article!)
In this FPL Gameweek 5 Forwards Analysis article, FPL Insights looks at a few options you can replace one or both with!
Before going further, do vote in this week’s FPL GW5 allaboutfpl captaincy poll. The same will be available in the captaincy analysis and metrics blog written by @AK_FPL1. The metrics has been delivering consistently with a 100% record this year. Last week the metric predicted Salah as the best captaincy candidate and he returned once again in GW4. Stay tuned for the GW5 Captaincy metric to see who tops it. Link to all our FPL Gameweek 5 blogs.

The results and the captaincy metric blog will be published soon based on the votes.
FPL Gameweek 5 Forwards Analysis – Antonio/DCL Replacements
(Player prices, ownership percentages, and transfer INs/OUTs change live. The quoted numbers may differ with the actuals when you read the article)
Raúl Jiménez | 7.4m | TSB – 4%
Jiménez has been under the radar of FPL managers due to lack of his FPL outputs. He has not returned in any of matches so far.
To be fair to him, Wolves as a team have been disappointing in terms of attacking returns despite playing eye catching football! Wolves did not score a single goal until the last match, where the first goal quite ironically, was an own goal.
Here are some quick numbers that suggest Wolves should have had goals in the first three matches and probably more goals against Watford too!
Jiménez had a BC against Watford and also created one for his teammate. Being the front man for Wolves and with great fixtures ahead, he is definitely one to look at!
And by the way, he is still just owned by just 4% managers!
Gabriel Jesus | 8.6m | TSB – 7%
Gabriel Jesus has found new life in the Manchester City attack as a winger. He has scored a goal and assisted 3 in the 3 starts he got since GW2.
To put it into FPL perspective, he has accumulated 26 points so far which is the second most among forwards. He blanked against Leicester, but in all three games he had excellent underlying stats to justify his returns. What’s also interesting is that he is putting up numbers in both goal threat and creativity
Manchester City’s fixtures are not the best, but regardless of fixture, Manchester City’s goal threat will not dry up. He could be a good option to cover one of the most attacking teams in the league!
Patrick Bamford | 7.9m | TSB – 13%
One of the most obvious replacements right now who slots in well without any notable difference in your budget or team structure!
Bamford has accumulated 16 points so far with 1 goal and assist. Below are attacking stats for him in the first 4 matches, where he played MUN (A), EVE (H), BUR (A) and LIV (H).
The upcoming fixtures for Leeds are much better than what they have faced so far and are ideal for Bamford, who loves bottom half oppositions. It’s not past him to pick up from where DCL left!
Temmu Pukki | 5.9m | TSB – 5%
Similar to Bamford, Pukki has had a quiet start. He has returned in only one of his last 4 games, where Norwich played tough opponents in – LIV (H), MCI (A), LEI (H) and ARS (A). Despite the difficult fixtures, Pukki had decent underlying stats
While he is shooting less (6 shots in total), he is getting quality service (3 BCs) and almost half of Norwich’s attack flows through him (48% IT)
With a marked difference between his previous four fixtures and the fixtures to come, it wouldn’t be long before the Pukki Party begins!
Everton might be a tough fixture for Norwich as a whole, but their inability to keep clean sheets may help Pukki. Despite playing SOU, LEE, BHA and BUR, Everton could manage only 1 clean sheet which is in line with their xCS of 1.3
