Top FPL GW5 Midfielders to Target from Gameweek 5

Semi Premium/Budget FPL Midfielders

Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth

Semenyo has had an excellent start to the 2025/26 campaign, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists in Bournemouth’s first four fixtures. He remains Bournemouth’s principal attacking threat, and with 36 points under his belt so far this season, Semenyo is second behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (37) among players who have scored the most points this term.

The Cherries face Newcastle United, Leeds United, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest in their next five fixtures. With these teams sat in the middle and bottom half of the Premier League table, and given Bournemouth’s form under Andoni Iraola this season, it seems likely Semenyo will capitalize on an easier run of fixtures and earn some big points between GW5 and GW9.

And at £7.5m, Semenyo offers quite an impressive ROI for his price, making him a prime choice for your team ahead of GW5.

Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United

Mbeumo arrived at Old Trafford earlier this summer as one of the Premier League’s best attackers after bagging 20 goals and 7 assists for Brentford last season. The 70 million-pound signing has scored only one goal in his first four games this campaign, while he was already 3 goals up by this time last season. He has averaged four points a game, with a total of 16 points scored so far this term.

However, this could be attributed to United’s turbulent form under Ruben Amorim, as the stats paint a different picture. Mbeumo has registered an ICT of 37.4, the second highest behind Semenyo among midfielders and the third highest overall in the league this season.

While he has underperformed his xG and xA so far, Mbeumo (£8.1m) remains an attacking threat who could bounce back with more points ahead of Manchester United’s next fixtures – Chelsea (H), Brentford (A), and Sunderland (H).

Eberechi Eze, Arsenal

Eze is one to keep an eye on after his high-profile move to Arsenal this summer, and it remains to be seen whether he can help end the Gunners’ 20+ year wait for a Premier League title.

He has been a consistent point scorer and was a crucial part of Crystal Palace’s attack over the last few seasons. Eze managed to outperform his xGI year on year during his time at Selhurst Park. He scored 148 points last season over 34 games, 136 points during the 2023/24 season, and 159 points in 2022/23.

He bagged an assist along with 6 points in his debut start for Arsenal against Nottingham Forest last weekend as well. Eze’s exploits in the Premier League so far have shown that he is a great pick for team managers, and with title-challengers Arsenal, more points may be up for grabs for Eze.

His next five fixtures include Manchester City, Newcastle, West Ham, Fulham, and Crystal Palace.

Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United

Fernandes has been one of the hottest prospects in FPL since joining Manchester United in 2020. After scoring 244 points in his debut campaign, he has consistently cleared the 150-point tally in each season since.

Like his teammate Mbeumo, Fernandes has also registered the second-highest ICT of 37.4 and scored 16 points in his first four games. He has created the most chances (12) in the league this season as well. Although he is a premium option at £9m, Fernandes is certainly a reliable point-scoring choice, especially being Manchester United’s primary set-piece taker and creator.

WATCHLIST – Phil Foden, Manchester City

Foden is certainly one to watch following his stellar performance in the Manchester Derby last weekend.

After an exceptional 2023-24 campaign with City, helping them win the treble and scoring 230 FPL points, Foden failed to replicate those numbers last season amid fitness issues. While he seemed to have a slow start to the current season, Foden returned with a statement display against Manchester United in GW4, scoring in their 3-0 win and bagging 12 points.

Pep Guardiola’s side are set for a tough match against Arsenal in GW5. However, their subsequent three fixtures include Burnley, Brentford, and Everton, posing the perfect opportunity for Foden (£8m) to bounce back to form and deliver some much-needed points for managers.

With only 1.9% TSB for the England international, Foden represents a premium differential option for non-owners.

WATCHLIST – Kudus/Xavi Simmons, Spurs

Tottenham have 2 very good fixtures in GW6 and GW7 vs WOL(H) and LEE(A) where all of their Midfield options could haul. Xavi Simmons and Kudus look to be the most nailed attacking Midfield options from Spurs right now. Xavi Simmons made his debut in GW4, played 71 minutes and got an assist as well through a corner. Kudus has been blanked 3 games in a row after his 2 assists in GW1 but he could have easily hauled in GW4 as well.

It is difficult to call who might be the better pick right now with a very small space. Watchout for a week or two to see who the better pick from Xavi and Kudus might be.

Budget Midfielders

Moises Caicedo, Chelsea

Caicedo has delivered a consistent and substantial amount of points so far this season. It seems the midfielder has made the most of the new Defensive Contributions points system in this year’s FPL.

He has already scored 29 points in just four games so far, with 6 of those points coming from defensive contributions. He has scored two goals in his first four games as well, showing that he can not only bring points in defensively, but also in attack.

With the new points system and at just £5.5 million, non-owners are missing out on a cheap, dependable, and well-rounded option that could very likely unlock a bunch of untapped points.

Caicedo’s next five fixtures include Manchester United, Brighton, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Sunderland.

Jack Grealish, Everton

Grealish departed Manchester City to join Everton on loan this season, and the Englishman has quickly become a key attacking player for his new club. He has provided four assists already in just four games so far for Everton.

Grealish(£6.8m) has racked up 24 points as well, the highest among players in his price range. His upcoming three-game run includes a shaky West Ham side and ninth-placed Crystal Palace.

Tijjani Reijnders, Manchester City

With Kevin De Bruyne’s departure last season and Ryan Cherki’s injury, Reijnders has stepped up in the middle of the park for Manchester City.

He has provided a goal and an assist so far, exceeding his xGI and scoring 17 points in his first four games. At just £5.7m, Reijnders is another worthy budget option to consider.

CONCLUSION- Best FPL GW5 Midfielders to Target

In conclusion, among the players listed above, Semenyo and Eze seem like the best options, with their £7.5m price tag and high scoring potential, although Foden should not be overlooked either.

Meanwhile, Caicedo by far looks like the best budget midfield option as he seems to guarantee points either offensively or through defcon as an instrumental player for Chelsea.
