The penultimate gameweek of the season is upon us. The popular captaincy options this week include Watkins, Salah, Mbeumo, KDB, and the legend Jamie Vardy. Let’s see who tops the captaincy metrics!

Watkins tops the captaincy poll without any surprise with 36% of the votes, and Mbeumo is 2nd in the captaincy poll with 16% of the votes. Salah, who was literally on the beach a few days ago, is 3rd with 15% of the votes. Leicester legend Vardy, who will be playing his last match for the Foxes, is 4th in the captaincy poll. The top five is completed by Man City legend Kevin De Bruyne.

We are edging closer to the end of the season, and the numbers are beginning to dip!

The Egyptian King is back in the captaincy poll this week, and he tops the table with an xG of 1.92 in the last six games, including 6 big chances, which is the highest amongst the five players. He’s also had 13 goal attempts in the box and created 16 chances, both are the highest amongst the five players.

De Bruyne is 2nd in the table with an xG of 1.56 in the last six games and has had 4 big chances. He’s also created 14 chances in the last six games for his teammates.

Vardy is 3rd with an xG of 1.49 and has had 6 goal attempts in the box and 2 big chances in the last six games.

Watkins is only fourth with an xG of 1.29 and has had five big chances. He’s also had 9 goal attempts in the box over the last six games.

Mbeumo is last with an xG of 1.17 over the last six games and has had only one big chance in the last six games. He’s created a healthy 14 chances for his teammates, the same as KDB and only two less than Salah.

Aston Villa take the first spot with an xG of 12.00 in the last six games and have had 62 shots inside the box and 25 big chances during the period.

Liverpool are 2nd with 11.57 xG over the last six games, they have also had 80 goal attempts in the box and 24 big chances.

Man City are 3rd with an xG of 10.21, and they have had 20 big chances and 57 goal attempts in the box in the last six games.

Brentford are 4th with an xG of 9.10, and the Bees have had 20 big chances and 56 goal attempts in the box in the last six games.

The Foxes are expectedly last with an xG of only 5.85 in the last six games and have had only 9 big chances during the period.

In the Third Phase of the Article, we look at the Fixture Difficulty of our 5 Candidates. 

We will use DraftHound’s odds for a Team scoring at least one goal in the Gameweek and the Odds of Scoring more than 2.0 goals in the Gameweek as a whole.

Aston Villa are first with a 86% odds of at least 1 goal and 52% odds of scoring 2+ goals in FPL GW37 vs Spurs(H)

Man City are 2nd with a 83% odds of scoring at least one goal and 40% odds of scoring odds of scoring 2+ goals in FPL GW37 vs Bournemouth(H).

Liverpool and Brentford are joint 3rd with the champions having a 80% odds of scoring at least one goal and 27% odds of scoring odds of scoring 2+ goals in FPL GW37 vs Brighton(A). The Bees have a 73% odds of scoring one goal and 29% odds of scoring 2+ goals.

Leicester are last with a 67% odds of scoring one goal and a 23% odds of scoring 2+ goals.

In the fourth phase of the article, I used the Anytime Returns and Projected Points tools available at Fantasy Football Hub. With the help of the Anytime Returns Tool, I have derived the Safety Rank, which helps in determining the Safest Captaincy Option of the week, while I have used the Projected Points Tool to determine the Explosion Rank, which helps in determining the Most Explosive Option of the week. 

Watkins is first for projections this week with 58% anytime returns & a 5.9 points projection in FPL GW37 vs Spurs(H)

Salah is second this week with 57% anytime returns & a 6.1 points projection in FPL GW37 vs Brighton(A). KDB is also 2nd with 58% anytime returns and 6.1 points projection in GW37 vs Bournemouth(H).

Mbeumo, meanwhile, is 4th and has a 50% anytime returns & a 5.3 points projection in GW37 against Fulham.

Vardy is 5th and has a 46% anytime returns and a points prediction of 4.7 in his last game for the Foxes and will be up against Ipswich.

In the Fifth and Final Phase of the article, I have aggregated the Ranks derived above to pull out the Cumulative Rank Factor (CRF). According to our captaincy metrics, the candidate with the lowest cumulative rank factor is the ideal captaincy option. 

Watkins tops the captaincy metrics with a CRF of 7, Salah is 2nd with a CRF of 8. KDB, meanwhile, is 3rd with a CRF, only a CRF of 2 splits the top three. Mbeumo is 4th with a CRF of 14, and Vardy is 5th with a CRF of 18.
