FPL GW17 Tips & Preview
Is Amad Diallo the Best Budget Enabler?
Amad has been a breath of fresh air since the departure of the previous manager Erik Ten Hag.
The winger rarely started and was only seen in glimpses off the bench under Ten Hag which baffled and frustrated many Manchester United fans.
Whether he has been in the RW or RWB position, Diallo has taken up great positions on the pitch and has 6 attacking returns in the 5 fixtures since Amorim took over, including a substitute appearance against Arsenal.
Some of his returns have been slightly fortunate and he has definitely been overperforming his underlying stats in this period (2.1 expected goal involvements) but his overall play has been promising.
United’s fixtures turn in Gameweek 21 with a home fixture against Southampton followed by a home fixture against Brighton. If you are a bit skeptical, you can keep an eye on Amad in the next few gameweeks and pencil in this time to transfer him in.

What about Enzo Fernandez as an FPL Asset?
Enzo has been a surprising beneficiary of Chelsea’s new attacking system under Enzo Maresca.
Similar to Amad, he has 7 attacking returns in his last 6 fixtures from 2.7 expected goal involvement. Overperforming by a fair margin but an attacking return every week from a budget midfielder shouldn’t be expected.
Fernandez has been playing a holding midfield role and making runs into the penalty area from deep, similar to what Gundogan used to do very successfully in City’s title-winning seasons.
Chelsea’s upcoming extended run of fixtures is a great opportunity for attacking returns and even though I don’t expect him to return at the same rate, he offers value for money at his price point.
As the captain of Chelsea, expect Enzo to start the majority of fixtures.

Thoughts on Arsenal Defence Going into FPL GW17
After injury issues and red cards to key starters in the October period, Arsenal now have their defensive and midfield spine fit and available and their defensive numbers are representative of this.
5 of Arsenal’s last 7 fixtures have seen them concede less than 0.5 expected goals and lead to 3 clean sheets in this period, which is slightly unlucky.
Arsenal have shown in previous seasons that their defensive record against top teams is just as good as the rest of the league as they change their play style for maximum control and give as few opportunities to score as possible to the opposition.
Timber provides excellent value at the moment as Ben White is out for another 6+ weeks after undergoing surgery. Timber has two attacking returns in the league this season as well as a marginally offside goal and a great assist in the Champions League.
As the cheapest and one of the more attacking Arsenal defensive options, he is a great choice for your team.

FPL GW17 Key Fixture Analysis
Tottenham v Liverpool
This fixture will be a great watch and could potentially see 2+ goals from either team. Definitely a fixture for attacking returns rather than clean sheets.
Their recent results include 4-2 Liverpool, 2-1 Tottenham, 4-3 Liverpool and 2-1 Liverpool.
As Slot’s Liverpool look to consolidate their lead at the top of the Premier League, Ange’s injury-ridden Spurs look to bounce back from some poor recent results and score a big scalp.
Liverpool’s counter-attacking prowess should shine here and expect to see Salah in the points. He is my choice for captaincy this week.

Everton v Chelsea
Everton will provide a stern test for Chelsea at Goodison Park after they kept Arsenal scoreless at The Emirates last gameweek.
Chelsea have struggled to score as freely against strong defensive teams this season. Manchester City kept them goalless in Gameweek 1 and only scoring a single goal against Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Arsenal shows that they can have a tough time breaking down a solid block.
Everton come into the game on the back of their best form of the season.
4 clean sheets in their last 5 fixtures including 3 in 4 at home sees them primed and ready to take on the 2nd placed Chelsea team.
I would avoid captaining Chelsea assets this week as their ceiling for points is lower than other premium assets.
