FPL GW9 Wildcard Guide

Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW9:

Pros:

  • Helps you get rid of not needed Liverpool and Arsenal assets like Luis Diaz, Saka, Saliba who have tougher fixtures for the next 2-3 games. Saka might be ruled out for GW9 as mentioned by Arteta that he is unlikely to feature.
Arteta after the UCL game
  • Remove the likes of TAA if you feel Liverpool won’t be keep much clean sheets going forward and spread the funds across.
  • Move from Mid-priced forwards like Havertz, Isak and Solanke to Budget Forwards like Wood, Cunha, Raul who are much cheaper and proving to be consistent. That money can be used to get another Premium Midfielder.

Cons:

  • Difficult to Pick the right Premium players among Salah, Haaland, Palmer, Son, Foden and Saka at the moment.
  • You might be removing Arsenal and Liverpool assets right now but it might be a short term move with both teams consistent and having good fixtures again from GW12.

  • Sels, Flekken, Pickford

FPL GW9 Wildcard Drafts

FPL GW9 Wildcard Draft 1

Haaland+ Palmer+ Son + 2 Premium Defenders Draft

FPL GW9 Wildcard Draft 1
  • This is a Draft with Three Premium attackers in Haaland, Palmer and Son. It also has two Premium Defender in Gvardiol+ Gabriel.
  • It has two Budget Forwards in Raul Jimenez(Returned in all the last 5 matches) and Cunha who has 3 goals already and good underlying numbers despite the tough fixtures.

Raul Jimenez Stats since his he became starter in GW4(Rank in the league):

  • Shots- 18
  • Shots inside the box- 17(3rd)
  • Big Chances- 7(Joint 2nd)
  • xGI- 3.8(2nd)
  • FPL Points- 36(4th)

  • Cunha and Ait Nouri have good underlying data and have excellent fixtures to make the squad. Ait Nouri has 9 shots, 1.5 xGI and 4 Big Chance Involvements from 8 game which are good numbers for Defender so far. Clean sheets have been hard to come by but it is to be noted that they have had the toughest fixtures among all teams so far- Played Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Villa, Newcastle, Forest already.
  • Mbeumo is a no-brainer considering the form he is in and the fixtures.
  • Johnson is the other mid-priced Midfielder here who has also been in good form. If you want to get on a Manchester United midfield punt before everyone does, Garnacho is a good alternative.
  • Pickford takes the gloves in this Draft with 2 clean sheets from the last 2 games and good fixtures till GW14.

Alternate options/Transfer Plans for the upcoming weeks:

  • Cunha to Wissa / Gvardiol to Lewis / Myko to £4.0/3.9 DEF- Options to consider if your team value is low.
  • Plan would be to bring in Salah for GW12 vs Southampton in place of Son. To make funds for this transfer you can drop Johnson to a Buonanotte/Other 5.0 Midfielder who emerges at that point. You can also think about removing Haaland for the slightly tougher fixtures from GW12 to accommodate Salah+Palmer+Saka in your team.
Manchester City fixtures from GW12
  • You can switch Raul/Cunha based on their performances to Brighton striker(Pedro/Welbeck) from GW12 as Brighton have a good fixture swing.
Brighton fixtures from GW12
  • Gvardiol can be downgraded to Lewis/Cheap Defender after GW12 to free up funds for Salah/other players around GW12.

FPL GW9 Wildcard Draft 2

Haaland+ Palmer+ Son + Foden Draft

FPL GW9 Wildcard Draft 2
  • This is one of the most attractive drafts with Haaland + Palmer + Son + Foden.
  • In this draft we have gone with Chris Wood over Cunha and a non-playing 3rd striker so as to make funds for the Premiums.
  • Sels and Robinson comes into this team as the stable cheap defensive options with both Forest and Fulham having good underlying defensive data.

Forest and Fulam- Defense Rank this season

MetricForestFulham
xGC Rank8th9th
Big Chances Conceded Rank2nd1st
Goals Conceded Rank2nd12th
  • Wood edges out Cunha in this draft. It’s a close call and you can go based for Wood if you favour short term(next 3 weeks) and Cunha if you want someone long term.

Chris Wood vs Cunha Stats Comparison:

  • The main con of this draft is the lack of a starting 8th attacker as we have a 4.5 FWD in this draft. With Rogers playing in UCL and having some tricky games, this could backfire.

FPL GW9 Wildcard Draft 3

Haaland+ Palmer+ Salah Draft

FPL GW9 Wildcard Draft 3
  • This is one of the more Balanced Draft covering the Three Proven Premium attackers- Haaland, Palmer and Salah. You can lock these three premiums for set and forget and rotate the pother budget options based on fixtures.
  • Gvardiol+ Lewis might be a overkill with City not looking good at the back. But we don’t mind it till GW12 as clean sheets are anyways hard to come by and both LIV/ARS have tough games till then. Both capable of attacking returns anyday as well.
  • Wood, Raul and McNeil are the other attackers in this draft with Mbeumo holding his place in all our drafts so far.

Alternate options/Transfer Plans for the upcoming weeks:

  • No Gabriel is a slight risk taken in this draft but there is an good argument to not go for him with three difficult games, Saliba suspended for GW9 and Saka/Odegaard still missing. You can buy Arsenal defender again for their good fixtures from GW12 as seen below. Gvardiol to Gabriel will be a planned transfer in GW12 in this draft.
Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures
  • Wood/Raul(Likely to be Wood) will make way for Brighton attacker in GW12.
