FPL GW4 Wildcard Guide
Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW4:
Pros:
- Chance to get back to Salah + Haaland Premium combination if you missed it at the start of the season. Both players are currently joint top for FPL Points(41 points) after the first 3 games justifying their Premium price tag.
- Easily get premium assets like Palmer, Trent, etc in your team.
- Sell underperforming assets like Hall, Murphy, Quansah, Bailey(if ruled out), Nkunku, etc
- Target teams with good fixtures in the upcoming games- Aston Villa, Brighton, Brentford(from GW6), etc
- Avoid your team value to decrease a lot early in the season by catching up with Price changes.
Cons:
- Three Gameweeks is still a small sample space to arrive at conclusions
- If you don’t have a lot of injury issues/Assets with low xMins then you can use your FTs and then wildcard later.
- There is a decision to be made if you want to Wildcard now or GW6(Another good fixture swing) or GW8 or later. With 5 Free Transfers to roll this season and Rolled Transfers continuing even after Wildcard, it is totally team-dependent if you want to Wildcard now or manage with Free Transfers and Wildcard later.

FPL GW4 Wildcard Drafts
FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 1- Salah+ Haaland+ Palmer+ TAA
This is one of the Drafts where it has 4 Premiums- Haaland, Salah, Trent, and Palmer.
Strategy and Potential Transfer Plans around GW6:
- Robertson to Arsenal Defender
- Palmer to Saka
- Eze to Mbeumo
- Minteh to Semenyo
The above 4 transfer moves are explained below:
The plan is to avoid Arsenal players in GW4 and GW5- Spurs(A) and Manchester City(A) and Target them for their amazing fixtures from GW6-GW8 when they play two promoted sides at home. If you are not confident and want to play it very safely, you can directly go to Saka and Saliba instead of Palmer and Robertson.
Mbeumo is coming on the back of a 14-point haul vs Southampton. With Toney leaving for Saudi, he is the Talisman for Brentford. However, the next 2 fixtures are difficult- Man City(A) and Tottenham(A). So we have suggested bringing him in GW6 for their amazing fixture run. They have a great run of fixtures till GW13 and with Mbeumo on penalties and set pieces, he will be an easy long-term hold.
Semenyo has had a stellar start to the season returning in all three games so far with 2 goals, and 1 assist for 19 points. With Solanke leaving, he has become the Talisman for Bournemouth. His underlying numbers are also excellent with 17 Shots(Highest in the league), 11 Shots inside the Box(Joint 1st), 2.5 xGI(3rd Highest).
Like Mbeumo, the immediate 2 fixtures are not very great for Semenyo. But in GW6-GW7, he plays in 2 Promoted sides which have the potential for Double-digit hauls. So we have suggested bringing him in GW6 in this draft.
Goalkeepers:
- Henderson takes the gloves in this team despite keeping no clean sheets for Palace. He managed two save points versus Chelsea in GW3 and had a good game. With a good run of fixtures, he is a good option. Flekken, Verbruggen, and Areola(He was injured in GW3, watch out for the latest updates) are all good budget 4.5 Goalkeeper options on FPL GW4 Wildcard.
- Fabianski is the bench fodder- Can become a starter if Areola is ruled out for a while.
Defenders:
- We have a defensive Liverpool double-up of Trent and Robertson. Liverpool have kept 3 clean sheets from 3 games and the Best xGC(2.19) in the league so far. Trent Alexander Arnold has been very attacking so far and was unlucky not to get an attacking till now as highlighted below.
- Dunk is the 4.5 million Defender in this Draft. There is chance creation from the center backs in the Hurzeler system. Dunk created 3 chances vs Arsenal in GW3- Highest among Defenders in GW3. With decent fixtures, he should be a good option going forward.
- Greaves(4.0) and Faes(4.1) are the Safe bench defenders and have played every single minute so far. Both Leicester and Ipswich also have better fixtures coming up!
Midfielders:
- Salah is a no-brainer with a sensational start to the season and good fixtures
- Palmer is a good pick long-term but can also be used short-term as a placeholder to cover for Saka in GW4 and GW5. Saka has tough away games in GW4 and GW5 but after that has good fixtures from GW6.
- The latest news is that Palmer has withdrawn from the England due to a knock. Have an eye on the latest news if he is ruled out for GW4, you can directly go with Saka!
- Eze is the Mid-priced Midfield pick in this draft. After blanking the first 2 games he rewarded his owners with a goal and 10 point haul. The fixtures still look for Palace and his underlying numbers are also one of the best in the league.
Eze Stats so far:
- Shots– 15(2nd)
- Shots inside inside the box– 7
- Shots on Target– 5
- Big Chances -1
- Chances created– 5
- xGI– 1.35

- Minteh(5.5) and Rogers(5.0) round up the Midfield as Budget Picks. Minteh is a place-holder to get in Semenyo in GW6. Over the next 2 games, Minteh has Ipswich(H) and Forest(H). Minteh has 2 assists from 3 games so far and has threatening on the right wing.
- Rogers has not returned yet but looks good on the eye test and has amazing fixtures to say the least. Onana and Soucek are also good options to consider for this position!
Forwards:
- Haaland is a no-brainer with 7 goals from 3 matches and good fixtures to follow. There is a case to drop him on the Wildcard in GW4, avoid him from GW4-GW6, and then get him back in GW7 for easier fixtures. However, we feel there is too much risk involved in the strategy and it is simply not worth it on Willdcard.
- Joao Pedro(5.7) rounds up this team as the enabler attacker. Pedro has been the pick of the Budget Forwards so far with 2 goals from the last 2 games and has also played 90 minutes in the last 2 games. He is also on penalties which works out well from FPL point of view. Brighton also have 2 good home fixtures up next vs Ipswich(H) and Forest(H).
The latest news is that Pedro has been called up to the Brazil squad as a replacement. Watchout for the latest updates after the internationals before getting him in. If there are any injuries or concerns, Welbeck/Delap/Wissa are all options with good fixtures.
Cons of this draft/Alternate Ideas:
- Weak bench. Downgrading Robertson to Konate can help to upgrade one of the 4.0 DEFs to 4.5 Million Defender thereby increasing the bench strength. The other 0.5 million can be kept in the bank for upcoming weeks. Another alternate move that can be done is to upgrade your 4.5 Bench Forward to a Welbeck/Delap with the Robertson to Konate money.
- Rogers as the 7th attacker is risky if there are any injuries to your team.

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 2
- This is a slight modification of the first draft but Trent has been sacrificed to Mykolenko. The TAA money has been used to upgrade the defense- One of the 4.0 Defenders to Leif Davis/Konsa.
- Even though Everton have been horrendous, They have excellent fixtures and the defenders might start to get points soon. Mykolenko(4.4) has dropped in price and can be a decent punt for this run.
- Leif Davis(4.5) is on all set pieces for Ipswich and is a very attacking full-back. He also got an assist in GW3. Davis got 2 goals and 21 assists from 43 games in Championship last season- Shows how attacking he can be. In fact, in FPL terms he will be a more dangerous version than Alfie Doughty of last season.
- Konsa(4.5) is a nailed and safe pick from Villa’s defense with excellent fixtures.
FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 3
- This is a draft without the Third attacker Premium- Palmer/Saka. The money is used to upgrade 4.5 Striker to Isak. There have been plenty of managers selling Isak but with two good fixtures vs Wolves and Fulham up next, he is still a great option. He can also serve as a placeholder to move to Havertz easily in GW6. Salah to Saka and Robertson to Arsenal DEF are also planned moves for GW6.
- Liverpool Double defense of Robertson and Konate saving money on TAA.
- This Draft enables you to have 15 good players with an overall good coverage. If you have already rolled 2-3 Free Transfers and Wildcarding this week, it is a good draft.
- Semenyo is also there in this draft returning in all three 3 games so far. In fact, only 8 players have returned in all the 3 matches so far.
- This draft also accommodates two playing 4.5 Million Goal Keepers who rotate brilliantly as seen below- Verbruggen and Flekken
Verbruggen(£4.5) and Flekken(£4.5) GK Rotation from GW4:
If you rotate them correctly till GW18, you will have-
- 0/15 games vs Last season’s Top 6
- 3/15 games vs Last Season’s 7th-10th placed teams
- 12/15 games vs Last Season 11th-17th placed & Promoted Teams
Here is how the Rotation will be:

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 4
- Last but not the least – This is one of our favorite FPL GW4 Wildcard Drafts. This draft almost covers all the bases and looks more solid.
- This draft directly gets to Havertz instead of a placeholder move. Havertz already has 3 returns – 2 goals, and 1 assist from 3 games and looks to be the first-choice center forward even with Jesus fit.
- Mitoma can also be downgraded to Semenyo/Minteh so that there is an easy route to Arsenal defense in GW6. Pedro to Wissa is also an option to consider in GW6.
