Welcome back after the long and uneventful international break! Before diving into FPL Gameweek 4 discussions, let’s take a moment to recap the highlights of the last game week.
In GW3, the heavy hitters made their presence felt, with Haaland and Salah both delivering impressive 17-point hauls.
Additionally, a noteworthy trend emerged: the decreasing frequency of clean sheets.
As we head into GW4, we also encounter the first significant fixture swing for several clubs, which could play a crucial role in shaping your strategic approach for the game.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL Gameweek 4 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy
Consider this your statutory warning: if you don’t have Haaland, make him your top priority over any other player. This week in particular, he’s set to face Brentford at home—a team that’s ranked 16th for expected goals conceded (xGC), despite only facing low-scoring sides like Crystal Palace and Southampton. Now, assuming Haaland is already in your squad, let’s explore some other potential players you could bring in.
Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) – MID, Liverpool – 41.8% TSB
The reigning FPL king has racked up more double-digit hauls than Haaland this season and comes at a bargain of around £2.5m less. Yet, his ownership is only about two-thirds that of the Norwegian and he doesn’t even crack the Top 3 in terms of ownership.
Among MIDs, Salah is ranked
- 1st for FPL points
- 1st for xPts
- 1st for BPS
- 1st for Bonus Points
- 1st for Big Chances
- 1st for Goals Scored
- 1st for Goal Involvements
- 1st for Big Chances Created
- 2nd for Shots on Target
- 2nd for Shots in Box
- 2nd for Assists
Salah is up against Nottingham Forest at home—a fixture where he found the back of the net last season.
But the real challenge is figuring out how to fit both Salah and Haaland into your squad.
João Pedro (£5.7m) – FWD, Brighton – 27.9% TSB
A nailed-on forward priced under £6.0m, who’s on penalties for a team currently in the Top 4 and has already scored against Manchester United and Arsenal, should be an absolute must-have in your FPL teams.
Among FWDs, Pedro is ranked:
- 2nd for Goals Scored
- 3rd for xA
- 3rd for BPS
- 4th for Bonus Points
His upcoming two fixtures are incredibly enticing.
In GW3, Pedro faces Ipswich Town, who ranks:
- 20th for Big Chances Conceded
- 20th for xGC
- 19th for NPxGC
- 18th for xCS
- 18th for Goals Conceded
- 0 Clean Sheets
This makes Pedro a top priority for your transfers.

FPL Gameweek 4 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Hold
Alexander Isak (£8.5m) – FWD, Newcastle – 43.7% TSB
Surprisingly, Isak is the most transferred out player this GW despite scoring a goal and returning 9 points last week.
He faces Wolves in GW4. Newcastle scored a combined 5 goals in the two matches with Wolves last season and Isak scored in the last meeting between the sides. He is red hot form having scored a brace against Azerbaijan on 5th September.
Wolves defence is ranked:
- 17th for Shots Conceded
- 18th for Shots on Target Conceded
- 19th for Shots in Box Conceded
- 19th for Goals Conceded
- 0 Clean Sheets
Among FWDs, Isak is ranked:
- 2nd for Big Chances Created
- 3rd for Shots in Box
- 4th for Shots
Holding on to Isak could be wise, especially considering how he rewarded the patience of his owners last game week.

Eberechi Eze (£6.9m) – MID, Crystal Palace – 24.8% TSB
Another player who experienced a price drop is Eze, but I recommend holding onto him. Despite a slow start, Eze is performing well among midfielders, ranking:
- 2nd for Shots
- 4th for Shots on Target
As Crystal Palace’s key player and set-piece taker, he recently scored 10 points and now faces newly promoted Leicester City at home. Leicester’s defensive stats are notably weak. Leicester is ranked:
- 20th for shots from Set Pieces Conceded
- 20th for shots from headers Conceded
- 18th for Shots in Box Conceded
- 17th for Goals Conceded
- 16th for Shots on Target Conceded
- 15th for Big Chances Conceded
- 0 Clean Sheets
Considering these favourable factors, keeping Eze in your Fantasy Premier League squad is a wise decision.

Arsenal Alchemists
William Saliba (£6.0m) – DEF, Arsenal – 38.3% TSB
Gabriel Magalhães (£6.0m) – DEF, Arsenal – 12.5% TSB
Ben White (£6.5m) – DEF, Arsenal – 9.0% TSB
Unlike last season, the trio of defenders is no longer in the affordable £5.0m-£5.5m range. Given that they aren’t among the Top 5 scoring defenders in the league, you might start to reconsider their value. Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures are particularly daunting, with three away matches in a week, including two in the Premier League:
- North London Derby
- Top-of-the-Table Clash
Considering this challenging schedule, it may be wise to move on from Arsenal defenders, at least in the short term.

Christopher Nkunku (£6.2m) – MID, Chelsea – 6.2% TSB
The French attacking midfielder has experienced three price drops this season, the highest of any player in FPL. It appears he’s being used primarily for cup matches, having started both European games against Servette but not the Premier League fixtures against Wolves and Crystal Palace.
While Enzo Maresca may appreciate his potential, it seems he prefers a setup with Palmer behind the striker, flanked by Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke for crucial league matches.
Given the long season ahead, with inevitable injuries, suspensions, and potential tactical shifts from Maresca, player form and team dynamics will fluctuate. Maresca’s array of attackers, many of whom can play in various positions, suggests we’ll see numerous tactical variations throughout the campaign.
At present, Palmer is being preserved for Premier League action, while Nkunku is being utilized in a secondary role. For owners, this situation isn’t ideal, so it might be wise to consider offloading Nkunku.
