FPL GW2 Tips – Key Tips & Questions Answered
1. Should I make a transfer or try to save it?
In 95% of cases, the answer to this question will be to not make a transfer. Trust the research and decision-making efforts you put into creating your GW1 squad and give them more than 90 minutes to prove themselves.
Realistically, we would like at least 15 – 20 gameweeks to make the most informed decisions for FPL, but we aren’t afforded that luxury at the start of the season. What we can do though is give our assets at least a few weeks to show what they are made of.
Give your team a chance to play both a home & away fixture to understand how their game plan differentiates. Also allowing your players to face multiple opponents will give further key knowledge that will help in decision making. You will have double the amount of information after GW2 than you have right now!
For example, Chelsea’s lineup on the weekend was built specifically to face Manchester City so there shouldn’t be too many insights taken from that one match alone. Liverpool facing Ipswich in GW1 also could have been flattering for their assets in comparison to the rest of the season.
Hold your knees.
2. Quansah Dilemma
We mentioned earlier that in 95% of cases you will want to roll your transfer. The other 5% could include owners with Quansah in their lineup. After being substituted at half time in GW1 due to losing too many physical duels, Quansah could see the bench again as Liverpool face Brentford in what should be a physical contest.
To avoid being priced out of a 4.5m -> 4.5m defender move, you could transfer Quansah to Robinson as Fulham embark on their green fixture run and before Quansah’s price drops to 4.4m.
If you have great bench coverage, you could choose to simply bench Quansah and eat the 0.1 loss which will have less importance as prices change over the coming weeks.

3. Haaland vs Ipswich
Haaland opened his account with a sharp finish at Stamford Bridge which is a positive sign for owners. He now faces Ipswich at Home where he is the clear captaincy choice of the week.
Haaland has faced promoted teams nine times in the last two seasons and has returned points in eight of those matches. This includes one hattrick and one brace. Half of these matches were only single goal returns though so it might not be a ‘hide behind your couch while the game is on’ scenario.
If you don’t own Haaland, we wouldn’t recommend tearing up your team or taking hits to get him in. Stick to your original decision and hope for the best.
If you do own Haaland, you should have high confidence of a points return in GW2.

4. Salah & Liverpool assets
If you watched the Liverpool fixture over the weekend and are desperate to bring in a Liverpool asset or add additional Liverpool assets to your lineup, you should wait a week or two to gain as much knowledge as possible.
For example, Salah was heavily involved on the weekend as Ipswich playing at home left space in behind for balls to be fired over the top of the defensive line to Salah. Brentford travelling to Anfield this Gameweek are very unlikely to employ the same tactics as they sit back and soak pressure. By watching Liverpool play a more conservative team, we will see which of their assets flourish in these matchups. We can then use that information and their upcoming fixture list to choose who to transfer in for the medium-term fixtures. It could be TAA, Salah, Szoboszlai or Jota that benefit from Arne Slot’s tactics in these types of fixtures. Only time will tell.
