FPL GW1 Team Reveal, Strategy and Keynotes

Srini’s FPL GW1 Team Reveal:

  • More reliable and safer way to start the season with Haaland+Salah. The plan is to have the proven picks for captaincy in GW1 and GW2 vs Ispwich. The draft misses the other premiums in Palmer and Saka, but this team has a good structure and you can get them later if needed. For example- Gvardiol to 4.5 Defender, Rogers to 4.5 Mid and Gordon to Saka can be done in GW6 for Arsenal’s fixture swing.

  • Jacob Murphy was in stellar form in pre-season with 8 goal involvements(5 goals and 3 assists), no player had more in pre-season.
  • Bailey is massively going under the radar with an ownership of under 5%, with uncertainty around Watkins xMins for GW1, Bailey is a great option to consider especially now that there is no Diaby in the mix.
  • The midfield is completed by Smith-Rowe, and Nkunku– Both players with good pre-season under their belt. All three players are good players under their price point and helps in shaping up the structure.
  • Wood is the 3rd striker in this draft with the Forest forward being the first choice under Nuno and they have got good fixtures in the beginning of the season.

Pre-Season Summary of these Budget Midfielders:

  • Nkunku – ⚽⚽⚽A
  • Smith Rowe – ⚽⚽⚽(One of the goals was scored when he played for Arsenal)

  • Hall(4.5) offers a cheap route into Newcastle Defense. He has been preferred over Burn at LB in pre-season and has looked good with a goal and 2 assists in pre-season. Even if Newcastle sign Guehi or another CB, it shouldn’t directly affect Hall’s minutes much.
  • Trent finds his way into my draft with Liverpool’s great fixtures it’s hard to look past him.
  • I have also gone for another premium defender in Gvardiol and in the process picked two 4.0 Mil defenders in Faes & Johnson. No Barco since his minutes might be at risk in the long term with Estupinan back in training.
Palace fixtures for the first 6 weeks

  • Henderson takes the gloves as he is one of the Best 4.5 million Goalkeepers with good fixtures to start the season. With Johnstone very likely to leave his minutes look safe.

Surya’s FPL GW1 Team Reveal:

  • Haaland, Solanke, and Isak are the front three with the main difference from Srini’s team is that there is no Salah which helps us to upgrade other fronts.
  • Solanke got 19 goals, and 3 assists last season playing for Bournemouth. Playing for a more attacking Spurs side, Solanke should be having another season where he scores a lot of goals. Even though the transfer was announced just few days back, Ange confirmed that Solanke is match-fit and is likely to start vs Leicester City in GW1.
  • Saka fills in as the Premium Midfielder instead of Salah in this draft and the money is used to get TAA. Nkunku is one of the major misses in this draft as it leaves out a standout option and also does not cover this important price point.
  • Isak and Gordon pick themselves as they are up against a promoted Southampton side in the first game. Their fixtures after that are also not bad either with good fixtures till GW5. Gordon had only one pre-season game to his name and might lack match fitness. Even if he does not start the 1st game, he is a good pick long term. If we plan to switch- Eze is equally a good option that we are considering as he also saves the 0.5 million.
Stats are from Fantasy Football Hub
  • A double-up on Liverpool’s defence might be surprising a lot but Quansah has great opening fixtures and the plan is to move to Konsa from GW4 onwards to target Villa’s fixtures.
  • Jota is the Differential pick in this draft with a tempting GW1 fixture vs IPS(A). He may not cover Salah, but could be a very exciting short-term pick atleast. Jota has also been a clinical finisher over the years. He in fact has a better Goal Involvement per 90 minutes compared to the likes of Haaland, Salah, Palmer, etc. His only issue has always been minutes- But we think he is a good short-term pick as he is very likely to start in GW1.
  • Kamada & Smith Rowe are the budget 5.5 million midfielders in this draft

Potential changes to the Draft:

  • If one of 5.5 Million Midfielders is downgraded to 4.5 million Midfielder and Gordon to Eze- There will be room to switch one of the 4.5 million Defenders to Gvardiol. That’s one of those decisions still to be made.
  • If Solanke to Joao Pedro is done, the 2 million in the bank can be used to upgrade one of the 5.5 million midfielders to Nkunku/Bailey and one of the 4.5 Defenders to Gvardiol. This is one of the moves I like and might make it around GW1.
