There are currently 23 Forwards classified under this Category and hopping on and off them based on their form and fixtures could be the key to gaining a lot of points for your FPL teams. Read on to find out who are the viable options below.

The Only 8 Million Option:
We have only Kai Havertz who belongs to this Category. Let’s have a look at King Kai’s Potential for the upcoming season.
Kai Havertz (Arsenal)
Fixtures:
Pros:
Kai Havertz Stats Last Season:
- Played: 37 Games (7 Subs) and 2639 Minutes
- Goals: 13 from an xG of 12.36
- Assists: 10 from an xA of 3.88
- FPL Points: 180
Perhaps the Standout Fantasy Player in the 2nd half of the FPL Season. The first 2/3rd of the season was spent in Central Midfield alongside Odegaard but a change to a Central Striker against Newcastle in Gameweek 26 immediately paid off with a brace and he never looked back since then.
Havertz went on to grab 15 Attacking returns in the final 13 Gameweeks and became Arteta’s preferred striker. Expect that to continue at the beginning of the season. Got Double Digits for both Goals and Assists last season, expect that to continue this season too. Created 1.56 Chances per 90 minutes (the highest among Forwards). Suggested read for more on Havertz: Talisman Theory – 2023/24 Report | Who Got The Assist(WGTA)
His all-round play helps in the BPS system too and being reclassified as a Forward will help him get even more BPS in games. With Saka getting a price bump up to 10, Havertz could be the more affordable pick for most FPL managers.
Cons:
Slight rotation with Gabriel Jesus if he stays at Arsenal this season. Also, a possibility that Arteta drops Havertz to the Central Midfield role to accommodate both players in the Starting 11.
Pre-Season Form:
Havertz – ⚽⚽A A
- In the game vs Bayer Leverkusen, Havertz played the 1st half in midfield & picked up 2 assists. He played up top in the 2nd half & scored!
- Havertz started up top in their last friendly vs Lyon in what was a strong Arsenal lineup. Gabriel Jesus was on the bench. (Further Read: Pre-Season Summary of All 20 Premier League Teams)
BEST 7.5 Million FPL Mid-Priced Forwards
We have 6 Players who are priced at 7.5 million. There are some exciting options in this Category with some caveats for each of them. Let’s have a look at each of them below.
Dominic Solanke (Spurs)
Fixtures:
Pros:
19 Goals for a Mid-Table Team, Solanke is finally living up to the hype of his Liverpool days & has earned his move to Spurs. Good Goal Threat (1 Shot on Target per 90) and Chance creation stats (1.06 per 90).
Leicester have lost all three of their last pre-season games and look shaky in defence, Spurs & Solanke could have a strong to the season come gameweek one.
Cons
Spurs fixtures get tricky post-GW2 with Newcastle, Arsenal and Man United between GW3-6
Solanke Stats from Last Season:
- Played: 38 Games (1 Sub) and 3331 Minutes
- Goals: 19 from an xG of 19.64
- Assists: 3 from an xA of 2.11
- FPL Points: 175
Pre-Season form:
- Solanke did not play any pre-season minutes for Spurs as the signing was completed only one week before GW1.
- Solanke played 2 pre-season games for Bournemouth though before moving to Spurs playing 24 minutes and 64 minutes respectively.

Jean Phillipe Mateta (Crystal Palace) –
Crystal Palace Fixtures
Pros:
Mateta Stats Last Season:
- Played – 35 Games (10 Subs) and 2283 Minutes
- Goals – 16 from an xG of 10.84
- Assists – 7 from an xA of 1.3
- FPL Points – 165
What an end to the season Mateta had, especially after Oliver Glasner took over Palace. Mateta had only scored 3 Goals before Glasner took charge. However, since Gameweek 26, Mateta went on to plunder 13 Goals (more than any other player in that period). He averaged a shot every 38.1 minutes and was involved in 58 percent of Palace’s goals under Glasner. Got 7 Assists too and did really well for Bonus (22 Bonus). Some good to fixtures to begin the season. What a Transformation!!
Cons:
Participation in the Paris Olympics (which ends a week before the Premier League season starts) could cast some doubt over his minutes in Gameweek 1. Another thing to keep an eye out is Mateta had a Goal Conversion rate of 34.8 percent (something which is not sustainable). Eze’s popularity as a Midfielder for 7 million (0.5 million cheaper) could also be a factor as an alternative FPL asset.
Pre-Season form:
- Mateta did not have a pre-season with Crystal Palace as he was involved with France in the Paris Olympics. This means he is highly unlikely to start GW1
- He did have a excellent pre-season on his own with 6 goals from 6 games vs France in the Olympics helping France to win a Silver medal.

The Boys up top from Merseyside (Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo) –
Darwin Nunez:
Liverpool Fixtures
Pros:
Very few can match Erling Haaland for xG stats and Darwin Nunez is one of them. Nunez established himself in Liverpool’s 1st team last season and got Double Digits for both Goals and Assists (11 each). Liverpool’s amazing start to the season could benefit whoever gets more gametime as the Center Forward under Slot. They are top of the Fixture Ticker from an attacking perspective in the 1st 6 Gameweeks.
Cons:
No ones misses big chances for fun like Darwin Nunez. He had 34 big chances last season and only scored from a 3rd of them. That shows in his xG underperformance (11 Goals from 16.23 xG). With Slot’s new playstyle, no one is quite sure whether it will be Darwin or Gakpo as the Central striker. Gakpo had a great Euros and may have the slight advantage of starting the Season as the No. 9 for Liverpool. Very bad for Bonus as expected, since he misses so many Big chances.
Darwin Nunez Stats from Last Season:
- Played – 36 Games (14 Subs) and 2046 Minutes
- Goals – 11 from an xG of 16.23
- Assists – 11 from an xA of 4.37
- FPL Points – 132
Pre-Season Update:
- Darwin started the final game pre-season game in Liverpool vs Las Palmas and played 67 minutes. However this was a second string Liverpool side as the other first team players were involved in the friendly vs Sevilla earlier in the day. That was the only pre-season minutes for Darwin which suggests that he is very likely not going to start GW1. (Further Read: Pre-Season Summary of All 20 Premier League Teams)

Cody Gakpo:
Pros:
After having a great Euros and Slot being a Dutch manager, and Gakpo starting the last few games of last season as the Center Forward, my money is on Gakpo starting the Season as Liverpool’s No. 9. A Much more Balanced player compared to Darwin’s chaos, Gakpo had 1.24 Shots on Target per 90 and created 1.29 Chances per 90 last season. Good for Bonus because of his multi-dimensional ability on the Football pitch.
Cons:
The rotation risk with Darwin and perhaps early subs with so many other Liverpool attackers on the bench. Pre-season minutes will tell us who Slot favors between these 2 and going for them could be a risk worth the reward with those early fixtures.
Gakpo Stats from Last Season:
- Played: 35 Games (18 Subs) and 1645 Minutes
- Goal: 8 from an xG of 9.07
- Assists: 5 from an xG of 2.71
- FPL Points: 106
Pre-Season Update:
Gakpo started the final game pre-season game in Liverpool vs Las Palmas and played 67 minutes. However this was a second string Liverpool side as the other first team players were involved in the friendly vs Sevilla earlier in the day. That was the only pre-season minutes for Darwin which suggests that he is very likely not going to start GW1.
Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea)
Chelsea Fixtures
Pros:
Chelsea’s amazing fixtures from Gameweeks 2-7 where they do not face any of last season’s Top 8. Despite being labelled in the same category as Darwin Nunez, Jackson still got 14 Goals and 6 Assists in his Debut Premier League season. A Decent route to the Chelsea attack if you cannot afford Palmer or do not have enough Midfield spots to get Nkunku. He has got amazing stats but the question is can he convert those stats to points on a regular basis?
Cons:
Chelsea are looking at bringing in another Big Name striker to add competition to Jackson (could be Osimhen). If not, we could also see Nkunku leading the line in some matches. Jackson is not known for getting too many bonus (as he missed more than half of his big chances last season). Has not taken part in Pre-season because of a niggling injury. Upcoming pre-season friendlies and Chelsea’s Transfer deals will tell us more.
N Jackson Stats from Last Season:
- Played: 35 Games (4 Subs) and 2804 minutes
- Goals: 14 from an xG of 18.14
- Assists: 6 from and xA of 3
- FPL Points: 142
Pre-Season Update:
Jackson got his first and only pre-season minutes in the final game vs Inter Milan and played 34 minutes. This suggests that he is very likely not going to start GW1.

Ivan Toney (Brentford)
Brentford Fixtures
Pros:
When fit & firing, Toney is an exciting Forward who no Defender wants to face. He hit the 20-goal mark in 2022-23 and if not for his ban for most of last season, he would have got close to that number as well. Brilliant at penalties, a great finisher with great set piece threat, a physical presence up top with an all round playing style for his team, Toney is an all-around player. If he does end up staying at Brentford, he will be the Talisman once more and will be a major Transfer target when Brentford’s fixtures ease from Gameweek 6. Always has good xG and xA stats as well and is very good for bonus.
Cons:
He is a Major Transfer Target for many clubs this summer, which could lead to an uncertain pre-season and under-prepared start to the Campaign. Somewhat of a Yellow card magnet and a Hothead. Even if he stays at Brentford, he may have to win his place back in the team after a poor end to the campaign last season. Brentford also do not have the best start to the season facing Liverpool, Man City, and Spurs in the 1st 6 Gameweeks.
Toney Stats from Last Season:
- Played: 17 Games (1 Sub) and 1449 minutes
- Goals: 4 from an xG of 5.72
- Assists: 3 from and xA of 1.51
- FPL Points: 57
Pre-Season update:
Brentford played a Wolfsburg 11 on the 10th of August, completely different teams from the 4-4 draw vs Wolfsburg a day before. Toney played 45 minutes in the second game. That was his only pre-season minutes.
My Top 2 Ranking in the 7 to 8 FPL Mid Priced Forward Category for GW1:
- Kai Havertz
- Dominic Solanke
