It was all fun last season when Palmer became such a good enabler scoring 244 pts having started the season at just 5.0 Million. This season however all the cheaper mids from last time like Gordon, Palmer, Eze, and Garnacho are all priced up after a good last season, even the likes of Saka and Foden have gone up too making it hard to easily get your dream FPL midfielder setup. The 4.5 midfielder slot is the one managers fill up as their 5th midfielder in their FPL team enabling them to spend big on the other four midfield slots. This time around there are 57 midfielders in this price point and in this blog, we take a look at the potential £4.5 Million FPL Midfielders for the 2024/25 season based on Transfer news and pre-season info.
Note: Blog will be periodically updated during pre-season based on friendlies/transfers

2024/25 FPL Season – £4.5 Million FPL Midfielders
Harry Winks
Harry Winks is the most reliable and safe £4.5 Million FPL Midfielder option to consider and this can be seen in his current ownership of 10.4%. He’s the only 4.5 Midfielder at the time of writing to have more than 3% ownership.
Pros:
- Nailed starter – Guaranteed 2 points every game
- He’ll play 90 minutes in all games – Last season he played 90 minutes in all 45 championship games he started(He missed only one championship game entirely all season)
- You’re most likely not going to waste a Leicester FPL slot by getting Winks
Cons:
- His high ownership could result in a price drop early in the season
- Little goal threat – Plays majorly as DM/CM and scored only 2 goals in 45 games in the championship last season
Lucas Bergvall
Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall is not leaving on loan and is firmly in the plans of Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou. He’s a CM/Number 8 and is strong in creating chances, Bergvall picked up an assist in their 1st pre-season game vs Hearts assisting another Spurs wonderkid Mikey Moore. He’s however not expected to start right away and could be an impact sub initially. One more potential problem is that he might block a Spurs spot.
Note: He was subbed off after 25 minutes with an injury concern in their 2nd pre-season game but has since been spotted. in training indicating that the injury is not serious.

Ibrahim Sangare
Sangare had a tough first season at Nottingham Forest and also missed out in the 2nd half due to his AFCON involvement. He’s been sharp in pre-season so far and is expected to start as the 1st choice CDM/Number 6 according to NFFC fans.
Although there are fewer chances for attacking returns due to him playing deep he still offers a decent aerial threat from corners and set pieces. Sangare also picked up a goal in their 1st pre-season game(Header goal from a Hudson Odoi cross)!
His ownership is not as high as Winks which potentially prevents any price drops, but the cons with picking him is that he’s still 100% guaranteed to start and has a little potential to get attacking returns.
Started in the last pre-season game vs Olympiacos & featured consistently in pre-season.

Amario Cozier-Duberry
Former Arsenal academy player Amario Cozier-Duberry has moved to Brighton and is another 4.5 Mil midfielder who could emerge as an option this season. Amario Cozier-Duberry is a right winger and was compared to Saka during his time at Arsenal.
In his first game for Brighton, he picked up 2 goals in just 45 minutes including a saka-esque goal. Competition is high for a starting place in Brighton’s attack with Minteh(5.0 Million Mid), Amario Cozier-Duberry, Adingra, and Solly March(Expected back in Oct) all RW attackers.
Brighton Manager Fabian Hurzeler on Amario Cozier-Duberry: BHAFC “He has this attitude and character inside him that when he’s coming to training, every time he’s listening, he’s trying to develop, he’s trying to improve individual things. I’m very satisfied with him.”

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi
Crystal Palace youngster Rak-Sakyi is expected to leave on loan this season and if he goes to a PL team he could come into the FPL scheme of things. Saints are apparently interested in securing him, so far this pre-season he has picked up a goal assisted by Palace’s new signing Kamada(Goal video)
Another option to monitor during pre-season!
Update: Linked with a move to Sheffield United in the championship.

Romeo Lavia
A strong pre-season for Lavia, he was Chelsea’s best player in the pre-season tour to the US. Lavia has already played under Maresca for Man City U21s & his style of play suits him. Chelsea have a plethora of midfield options but the early indicator is that Lavia will start the season in midfield for the Blues. The potential con to picking Lavia in FPL is that he plays a deeper role & also utilizes a Chelsea spot when you have got Nkunku, and Palmer to choose from as well.
Lavia picked up two assists in pre-season!

Tim Iroegbunam
Iroegbunam moved from Aston Villa to Everton & is likely to be the Onana replacement for Everton. He’s had a strong pre-season for the toffees & he’s expected to start in midfield for the Merseyside team.Little/No attacking threat is the biggest con when it comes to picking him in FPL.
Dyche about the progress of Iroegbunam: “[I’m] very pleased. I mentioned to him when he came in that Premier League fitness is a jump up from when he was on loan in the Championship. We’ve spoken to him about that, so it’ll have done him ever so good to get two 90s in a week.
