Points scoring for Goalkeepers in Euro Fantasy
Fortunately for us Euro Fantasy Managers, goalkeepers score points in exactly the same way as they do in the normal Fantasy Premier League, so the aim is to have a goalkeeper who keeps as many clean sheets as possible.
If you want more information on how points are scored in Euro Fantasy 2024, check out this post:
EURO Fantasy Best Goalkeepers to Target
Euro 2024 Predicted goals against of all teams during the group stage.
Goalkeepers from the teams with the lowest number of predicted goals against should be your ideal Euro Fantasy goalkeepers as they have the highest clean sheet potential(Ex: GKs from Portugal, Belgium, France, England, and Spain)

Pickford, Price: 5m, TSB: 23%
Fixtures:
Despite grumblings from the Media and Pundits, there has never been any doubt that Pickford remains England’s Number 1. With arguably the easiest group and an exceptional defensive record at major tournaments under Southgate, Pickford is the number 1 pick. The only downside to selecting him is that it then limits you to two outfield England players, which may put some managers off. He is however a nailed, 90-minute man, which cannot be said for England’s other defensive options.
Pickford in Euro 2020:
- Played every single minute
- 5 clean sheets in 7 matches
- 2 goals conceded (semi-final and final)
Fanteam Euro Fantasy Game:
Diogo Costa, 5m, TSB: 8%
Fixtures:
The only other nation with a solid defense and an ‘easy’ group is Portugal, due to this, their assets should be prioritized for the group stage. A similar problem arises with Costa, as with Pickford, in that selecting means managers can only have two outfield players from Portugal, which could be limiting, when taking into account the plethora of attacking options available to Martinez. Despite their not-great defensive record in recent major competitions, they have the best-predicted goals against of any team for the group stage, predicted to concede only 1.21 goals over the 3 games, and Costa is therefore one of the Goalkeepers to target.
Portugal Stats:
- Best Predicted Goals Against
- 5 goals conceded at WC 2022
- 9/10 clean sheets in 2023
- EURO Winners in 2016

Verbruggen, 4.5m, TSB: 3%
Fixtures:
Brighton’s number 1 has had a mixed season, but his starting spot for the Netherlands is confirmed by Koeman for Euro 2024.
The Netherlands are notorious for their excellent defense, almost always lining up with a back 3, consisting of 3 world class centre-backs with the likes of Ake, De Ligt, Timber, De Vrij and of course Van Dijk protecting the Oranje goal. While their group is not the easiest, (France are generally quite good), one would expect them to progress, and I expect their progression to be down to some solid defensive performances.
The Netherlands at WC 2022:
- 2/3 clean sheets in the Group Stage
- Knocked Out by future winners (Argentina) on penalties
- 1 GA in the Group Stage
- 2nd Best Predicted Goals Against

Casteels, 5m, TSB: 1%
Fixtures:
With Courtois omitted from the Belgium squad, Casteels is set to start in net on the 17th June against Slovakia. At currently only 1% TSB he could be an excellent pick for the group stage, with Belgium predicted the 2nd best Goals Against of any team for the first 3 games, only marginally behind the aforementioned Portugal. Their fixtures look kind on paper, although Ukraine and Serbia could cause some issues, and as the Golden Generation fades away, perhaps the new crop of Red Devils can set out their stall for the first time at EURO 2024.
Belgium Stats:
- 2/3 Clean Sheets at WC 2022
- 3/5 Clean Sheets at EURO 2020
- 2 GA at EURO 2020

Alternative Goalkeepers to Target:
- Neuer, 6m, TSB: 14% – The hosts have been in great form recently, and will of course be buoyed by home support. Nagelsmann confirmed that Neuer is his N.1, but the combination of a not-so-easy group, along with their recent record at major tournaments (and Neuer’s price tag), means that the Bayern legend is not among the top picks.
- Donnarumma, 6m, TSB: 16% – A hefty price tag, and arguably the group of death means that the Italian doesn’t make the shortlist. Furthermore, Spalletti’s attacking style could leave Italy open at the back, a notion backed up by a Predicted Goals Against of 4.9 for the group stage.
- Livakovic, 5m, TSB: 4% – Perennial dark horses Croatia only conceded one goal in the group stage of the WC in 2022, before conceding in every knockout game up to and including their 3-0 loss to Argentina, which sent them home from the competition. Group of death and better alternatives means that Livakovic is not a priority target.
- Andriy Lunin, 4.5M, TSB: 17%: Ukrainian first-choice GK, Lunin has had a good season at Real Madrid having featured in 31 games across all competitions conceding only 32 goals and keeping 10 clean sheets.

4.0 Million Euro Fantasy Goalkeepers to Consider
- Etrit Berisha/Thomas Strakosha, 4M: Both the Albanian GKs are priced at 4.0 Million with Thomas Strakosha the likely first choice having taken over from Berisha in the later stage of the Euro 2024 qualifier campaign and the last set of friendlies Albania played. Ahead of the Euros Albania had two friendlies and both the GKs played a game each.
- Horațiu Moldovan, 4M: Romanian first-choice Goalkeeper who played an important role in their Euro qualifiers campaign. Great choice if you’re on limitless matchday 3 chip strategy as they play Slovenia.
- Gulasci started ahead of Dibusz in Hungary’s last friendly before Euro ending the hopes of Dibusz starting during the Euros
