The group stage is almost over, repeat the group stage is almost over! Even though it was only last week that the Euros started, the knockouts are in sight, so it’s time once again to take a look at some differentials for the next round of fixtures (MD3), in the hope of increasing the gap, or making up ground in our mini-leagues solowly increasing our OR rank. In this post we will be discussing the best 2024 Euro Fantasy MD3 Differentials, taking into account fixtures, form, underlying numbers and of course ownership (or TSB).
TSB = Teams Selected By and is usually expressed as a percentage. In this post a differential is any player under 10% TSB at the time of writing, and our ‘super’ differential pick is under 1% TSB at the time of writing.

2024 Euro Fantasy MD3 Differentials <10%
Vitinha, Price: 6m, TSB 4%
While Portugal needed a last gasp winner to beat the Czech Republic in MD1, they created enough chances to finish the job earlier in the game, and central to that chance creation was PSG midfielder Vitinha. The midfield maestro, was awarded player of the match, adding three extra points to his total. While it remains to be seen how he performs in MD2 against a different test in Turkey, Georgia are the weakest team in the tournament and therefore doubling or even tripling up on Portuguese assets is probably a safe bet.
Leao is another option, who I thought played well in MD1, but Vitinha is a bit cheaper, and possibly more nailed, as Leao’s minutes could be under threat from players like Jota and Felix. The only Caveat is that if Portugal get all 3 points against Turkey, then there could be rotation throughout the team, as Martinez’ men will already have secured themselves a spot in the knockout stages – something to keep in mind.

Robertson, Price: 5.5m, TSB 2%
Liverpool’s Andy Robertson should be firmly on our radar for MD3. Despite Scotland’s poor performance in MD1 (against an admittedly exceptional Germany team), they put in an improved showing against Switzerland in MD2, in which, Robertson played a pivatol role. The flying fullback created 3 chances, 1 big chance, and had an xA of 0.45. He is also one of the top players for ball recoveries, averaging just over 5 per game.
Scotland’s final fixture is a must win tie against Hungary, who also need some points to have any hope of progressing to the knockouts. While neither team has shone so far this tournament, Scotland looked like a much improved side against the Swiss, and will be looking to secure their first victory this tournament against a Hungary side who are relatively blunt in attack, and also quite open at the back. It’s a risk, but Robbo has proved time and time again that he is a world class player, and as captain will be determined to drag his team to what would be a historic victory.

Gakpo, Price: 7.5m, TSB 7%
I was very tempted to include Cody Gakpo last week after his eye-catching performance against Poland in MD1, however was put off by The Netherlands’ tricky fixture against France in MD2. Now, with thile most challenging fixture of the group stage out of the way, Gakpo will be looking to lead his side to victory yet again against Austria, who were professionally despatched in MD1 by France. The Liverpool forward created 3 chances, and took 5 shots against Poland, missing 1 big chance, and dispatching a more difficult one!
While Koeman’s side had a number of interesting defensive assets, their attack should not be slept on, and Gakpo is their most attractive option. There are a couple of reasons to be cautious, namely his pricetage. At 7.5m, he is not extortionate, but he’s by no means a budget option, and 7.5m puts him in the same bracket as players like Morata (8.5m) and Havertz (7.5m) – but on form Gakpo is the best, having finished the season well and started the Euros campaign off with a bang, so for me, he should at least be taken into consideration.

Fullkrug, Price: 7m, TSB 3% OR Sané, Price 7m, TSB 4%
Germany are through to the knockouts, and, as long as they don’t lose to Switzerland, will end the group stage top of their group. They proved in both MD1 and MD2 why they are seen as one of the favourites to win the competition, and why we as managers should continue to target their assets, having scored 7 and conceded just 1 in their first two games.
That being said, Nagelsmann is likely to rest a number of key players in MD3, and therefore players like Sané and Fullkrug become really intriguing differential options for our teams this MD. we will know more information prior to the deadline, as Germany play in the first fixture of MD3, so it’s probably best to wait and see which player is more likely to, or is even confirmed to be starting. If both are, (while it slightly depends on the makeup of your team) I prefer Sané, as he is the more versatile and dynamic of the two. While Fullkrug has scored this tournament (Sané has not), he has only taken 2 shots in total, compared to Sané’s 6 shots and 2 chances created, so, if I had to pick – it would be Sané.

Spanish Differential Assets:
Spain could have some decent differentials in MD3 as they’ll be heavily rotated after ensuring the top spot in their group.
Spanish players to consider:
- Oryarzabal, €7.5 Million, Midfielder – He was in great form in the pre-euro friendlies and he’s likely to play the number 9 role and should be on penalties as well
- Former Leicester City midfielder Ayoze Perez at 6.5 million is also a decent option
- Grimaldo at 5.0 Million is also a strong option as he’s a very attacking fullback.
- Ferran Torres could also be a decent shout

Euro Fantasy Super Differential for MD3 <1%
Hojbjerg, Price 5.5m, TSB 1%
Denmark played very well against England, and could’ve come away with all 3 points, as they nullified the three lions’ attack relatively well, only conceding after a lapse in concentration from one of their defenders. Eriksen was mentioned in our MD2 differentials post, and impressed again, but this week it is his midfield partner Hojbjerg who is our ‘super’ differential pick for MD3.
Hojbjerg is a ball recovery boss, managing 8 in MD2 and 5 in MD1, as well as picking up 3 extra points for his player of the match performance against England. He is a steady source of points from a ball recoveries point of view, but could also offer the possibility of big points in a different way. The Tottenham midfielder took 5 shots against England, all from outside the box, totalling 0.36xGOT. Goals from outside the box are worth more points in EURO fantasy than goals from inside the box, so if this is something he is being encouraged to do, as the stats suggest, then it could be only a matter of time until one of these shots finds it’s way into the back of the net, and delivers his (currently) small pool of owners some big points.
